Nice video thanks for sharing and best of luck.
Need to put each DD coil straight up and down so half of the the coil ( 1 D ) is vertical to ( 2 D ) .
Oh Gigmaster you hold all the answers I seek.
Thanks mate.
Need to lower swing speed on that big coil and turn coil right way and you may see a good diff in depth
I like your video's because I learn from them. When you can see the numbers and hear the sounds, that's how you learn the machine when you dig your finds.
Excellent demo, you can't go wrong with any one of those coils. All solid performers.
Thanks for the testing, helped me decide to pick up that 6" coil for sure. Thank you great videos!
That was a very well done and informative video. The key was that you kept the testing consistent through all three coils. Excellent!
Thanks! I have 2 equinox's but did not want to use both because one may have issues and you may not know it and get 2 different results.
Nice demonstration. Soil conditions vary but this was a great reference demonstration. Thanks for taking time to show. The little 6” was impressive. 👍
love to see testings with the equinox. Thank you!
Great info for me. I just got my Equinox 800 this week.
Thanks, you just answered one of my big questions. I will be ordering the 6" coil.
I put a 6" on my Equinox 600 and I love it, so much better than the 11". I know I'm pulling targets that I wouldn't have easily found or ever found with the 11". The 6" does great at the beach as well, plus the weight of it makes it nicer to swing and cut through shallow water.
Thanks for this comparison Gig, seems the 15" is getting more depth and coverage. I know what I will buy myself for Xmas 😃
Steve you goin' really fast here..the coil would not be swinging over the target this fast..i'm thinking recovery speed here. ;-) I like the rest of it !
Awesome comparison video!!
My thoughts are this
#1 you don't swing your coil as fast as your moving your hand
#2 the big coils center was 6 inches above the box so you were really testing the outer perimeter of the coil...
Thought you did a good job comparing the coils. Helpful information.
you forgot to mention that the 6" coil works best in the brush , you can move it around better and get in to places that the bigger one cant. good video
george potthast Good point!!
@@Gigmaster hallo...for you it s best this original coil or the coiltek? I m looking for the 15""...thanks
Good test and good information!
Love the little guy. Not bad at all
Air test is the only thing you can do when the weather is crappy. THANKS.
That was a good coil comparison, it helps me to decide whether or not to get another one!
Thanks for sharing this as I’m thinking of buying the 15” coil for my nox 800 thanks
Gig thank you for repeating the test on the 3 coils. It helped me decide that the 11” coil was the one for me now. Thanks again. John, Linda’s husband.
Great information enjoy your videos just subscribed looking forward to more great information thanks
I know a lot of people saying the 15 isn't worth it but it is. Yes soil conditions do make a difference all I use is a 15 for CW relics and I've pulled bullets at nearly 20 inches. The signals are clear and hard hitting.
Have you find golp also deep?
If you did a factory reset how come on the 15 inch coil it had a notch out.
Be nice to see this test done with different sized gold pieces. I’d like to see what the 6” coil does in bed rock hi mineralization areas in prospecting mode.
good comparison
Thank you for the tips. Sheldon.
We all know as veteran .metal detectorists to dig everything when your out gold fields. Anyhow nice to have seen metal detector comparisons. Excaliber excaliber 2 etc.
Very good compairison!
Air tests are Just fine , the medium is air .
Its 'permability' is lessen than wet soil or even dry soil .
But it shows Just how deep , in percentages / reference , the coils go.
Just the haters ,have remember it goes deeper in soil .
Grtz from the Netherlands

Watched , enjoyed and bought myself the 15 inch coil. So does factory reset affect the recent update ?
I guess I don't understand why you had the 15 inch coil side way? With it on your detector its not that way.
Ronald Dvorak Just how I put it in the slot. I did test both directions and it did not seem to effect the outcome.
@@Gigmaster ok
I do learn alot of great tips from your videos being the owner of the 800.thanks Would like to see the test with the 15' coil with target held in the middle of the coil ..seems you were putting the target tords the edge of the coil which might affect the depth ..besides that great job on your videos ! Thanks again
another great vid
Nice to know to this new Nox owner......,Brian Smith
I think the 15 would of done better as the coil was on the low side ?? Hottest part in the centre . Bad to see but the coin seemed close to the ruler which would be ok for the 6 but not the 15 . They are all good coils .Last week my son popped a gold ring with 2 emeralds at 8 inch on land previously detected . With the 15 . Good comparison test show's the 6 is no sloutch .
The coils were not all in the same direction. You were running vertical with the 6 and 15 in. and horizontal with the 11in. Also, your swing would not be so fast in the field. Another question, have you tried detecting in the pinpoint mode for depth?
Curious to see how the Coiltek 10x5 compares to the Minelab 6" coil.
You mentioned that the machine was factory reset but I didn't catch which mode you were in? Since you didn't say you also adjusted sensitivity down, which I would have suspected would need to be done testing inside your house, I'm curious what the sensitivity level was set at? I have the owners manual downloaded and I wanted to check the factory presets chart. Very informative and impressive test. Yes it's not analogous to real world conditions but it gives solid relative results between the different coils. I'm planning on getting an EQ 800 as well as a 6" coil but not the 15". This video confirmed that plan in my mind. Thanks
He does mention the mode and he used the factory presets without changing any settings. That's the point of the factory reset.
Hey bud. Just wondering are you going to switch to the 15 inch for your beach hunts now? Also could you tell a difference in arm fatigue with the bigger coil. Thanks. Hope the weather clears soon for ya. Saw that both you and the Carolina's got smacked by that winter storm. Take care. Sean Orlando, FL
Yes! Not that much difference when swinging. A little heavier but it did not wear me out.
I just have the stock coil for my 600, thought about getting the 6" coil but hard to justify right now plus hearing people having a bad iron falsing problem with it. the bigger coil just too big for me these days. another great video
Only if your serious about getting deeper targets. It will work larger coil. Anyhow good hunting.
The 6in coil is a killer in trash
I put a 6" on my Equinox 600, its way better in my opinion than the 11".
Gig will you be showing your set up on the 15” coil beach set up? I’ve been running the coil at factory settings beach 1. I liked the beach settings you had on the stock coil beach 1 two tones etc.
Mik Taylor Pretty much the same with minor changes on discrimination and recovery depending on the environment.
Thanks Gig, and
thanks for all the helpful videos.
Any chance I can buy gig master t-shirts?
Send me a Private message.
Right but NOW retest the 15 inch depth-with the 'low recovery setting of 1'. as mentioned in a previous vid of yours. The vid where you hit the silver dollar at 17 inches.
You haven't said what sensitivity or recovery speed you are using?
Yes he did, he said factory reset for every coil 3:25
I'm wondering if a small nugget would do better with the big coil ?
Graham Watts We will test it tomorrow!
Can the 15 inch coil find gold rope chains?
I found $15.11 yesterday using the 15 on a nox 800 at a park that hunted previously with the standard coil!!
Good job on the clad!
did you ever remake this video with the coils aiming up instead of sideways? when you metal detect you swing side to side, this test would be like swinging forward and back on a target. That's not how you metal detect, and not how the coils are supposed to be used.
Thanks for the comparison. You should put the 15 inch coil in a vertical position. HH
Cant wait til you do the 6 inch with the new 2.0 update... Does it help or not?
what sensitivity did you use ??
Piotr Kacprzak 20
Im very interested in the 6in for the trashy areas
It’s a game changer in the trash
Not impressed with that 15" coil. I would have expected much better depth and stronger signal than the 11". IMHO There's not enough difference in overall performance to justify the price. I do have the 6" coil though and that's worth every penny!.
Anthem 2112 he tested the coil way out of it’s hot zone. He should have raised the coin to the centre of the coil and the results would have been much better. This is a double D coil so it has a very narrow range.
@@TheTimijay Agreed. This test was not conducted well.
I just ordered the 6in to use when I go to Dillwyn Va.. Are you going to the meeting Saturday the 17th? I'll be there hopefully.. Lol. If I do go I'm gonna bring my big Highbanker and if you wanna use it Sat you're more than welcome to man..
I want to get back up there bad!
@@Gigmaster Cool man
Thanks for the video. I’m wondering if the position of your coils affected your test? Your coins were swung from tip to tip as opposed to from side to side like in a normal detecting fashion.
I thought about that too and tested both directions and it did not seem to matter.
Gigmaster Good to know. Thanks. Love watching your videos. Keep up the Great Work
You should have tested the large coil from the centre range rather than the edge of the coil and have the range vertical rather than horizontal. Double D coils are narrow banded and signals are weaker at the left and right sides of the coil. Otherwise thank you great video mate.
Mineralization soil greatly affects the depth on the Equinox
mineralization affects all detectors the bigger coils more so.
To carry out a fair test everything needs to be the same.
You had the coils all over the place!!!!
I think you should have had the 15" coil up and down not sideways. I think you would have gotten more depth.
Includes Iron Rejected Option
Sensitivety and recovery rate plz
