Yamaha is driving Dakar with a factory turbo version. However highly different machine developed with X-raid: wider tracks, different ECU and lots of upgrades in suspension (price of suspension is already over a normal YXZ). Very tempting machine
They broke my heart at $22,000 though. I used to have a maverick turbo 4seater, it was $24,000. I’m sure the Yamahammer is much more reliable.
2019 with the turbo kit,trinity exhaust and Alba flash. She is untouchable through the pine trees of eastern North Carolina.

I think Yamaha has it all wrong. We should be competing with the big cars in the desert and sand dunes with the 3 pedal!! Let the belt cars have the trails where they belong. I don't care how fast your rzr is it will NEVER be as fun to drive as my 3 pedal. Why is Yamaha recoiling as TRX and RZR and CanAm and Speed UTV are coming out with awesome chassis/suspension/big motor but with crappy CVT's?? If I replace my '16R with a new YXZ it has to go straight to the shop for 30K in upgrades before I put a single mile one it. Cage, seats, turbo, long travel and other suspension mods, tires etc etc, all just to be about 75% suspension and HP of a new Pro-R and a little closer to Speed El Burrito, or whatever, but not quite there IMO. Speed UTV has stock 225 HP and WAY WAY better suspension than YXZ. A powersports shop owner in Vegas told me that YXZ was designed in 2005 or 2007 and shelved until 2015 and they still haven't changed it. My cousin bought a brand new ProR (still waiting to take delivery) but at the sand show it makes YXZ look like a kids toy. Not even in the same universe and the other cars I named above are all chasing RZR for big suspension and motor. YXZ powertrain in a new chassis with real suspension could be a serious competitor!

I had YXZ (sold it) and to NOT make it up some hills and that is a big problem. My 205 hp x3 can fly right up the same hill no problems. I want the power when I NEED it. and if a manufacture is going to build a NEW sxs they should be with in the sport range of the rest in my opinion. and a hellcat? not sure what a street can has to do with off roading in sand and or rock / trial riding. @@ryanfaubert2014

The machine is long in the tooth and in need of a complete refresh, including new body design, much higher clearance and larger tires if it's to be competitive with other brands.
