Incredible how I get emotional with this song. If one day I went to a new World and I could take certain things, certain memories and I was allowed only one song, this would be Back Door. This song is of an indescribable depth; there are many layers that overlap and produce a mixture of sadness, melancholy, but with a promise of something good, soft. What a great work of art Xymox left for the world and for new generations.

Back then I never heard anyone talking about dark wave or coldwave or indeed any wave other than new, which was a term mostly reserved for the flock of seagulls and human league. Back then we were more concerned with the message than the label. In the 34 years since, I have introduced a few to this band; Neither I nor they have ever met anyone else who has ever heard of them. And that, my fellow Clannies, is another awesome thing about them.

Acabei de ver o filme, O Hóspede, pelo Tele cine. A trilha sonora chamou minha atenção. Escutei um som que me pareceu familiar. Vim pesquisar no RUclips a trilha sonora. Ao escutar veio a memória uma época especial na minha vida. A parte instrumental do início da música "a day" da banda Clan Of Xymox. Fui conhecer essa banda e ouvir esse som na minha adolescência. Um amigo chamado Evanguelos (boca 7), que apresentou essa, então, novidade na época. Bem como Front 242, Bauhaus, The Cure, The Sisters of Mercy, The Mission, The Cult, The Smiths, Joy Division, entre outros. Morávamos no bairro Ponta da Praia na cidade de Santos-SP.
