In this vlog I go to see Jesus Christ Superstar at the Palace Theatre Manchester. I went to the tours opening night on Monday 11th September which started at 7.30pm. The The run time for the show is ~2hrs which includes a 20minute interval. For this show I was sat in the Stalls Row T seat 1 and my view was good. I paid £13 for my ticket.
Timothy Sheader (Crazy for You, Into the Woods) directs this mesmerizing new production of the iconic global phenomenon, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR which which tours the UK from September 2023. Reimagined by Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, it won the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival, garnering unprecedented reviews and accolades.
Featuring lyrics and music by Emmy, GRAMMY, Oscar and Tony winners Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, and with choreography by Drew McOnie (King Kong, Strictly Ballroom), JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary series of events during the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ, as seen through the eyes of Judas. Reflecting the rock roots that defined a generation, the legendary score includes ‘I Don’t Know How to Love Him’, ‘Gethsemane’ and ‘Superstar’.

ian mcintosh i last saw in We will rock you on the tour & in London and his voice always just blew me away when he sung from start to finish. I might give this musical a try as never seen it before.

I am a fan of this musical. But i would also give it 3 stars. Good vocals, but weird direction and fuzzy characterization. Gethsemane was great, just wished he'd dropped the guitar much sooner.
