    Did you know that you can also turn on sound leveling. I found it by going to antenna and was watching the news and accidental pressing the asterisk. This opened a options menu. I scrolled “Sound Settings” and then to “Volume Mode” and selected “Leveling”. This keeps the volume from jumping during the commercials.

    I use my Roku TV as an external monitor for my laptop, and if anyone else does or wants to, make sure to set TV brightness to Normal (or lower setting), or else it will tend to burn your eyes.

I had to unplug the ROKU, wait a moment, then plug it back in. Apparently something changed during a recent update and changed my power settings. Your suggestions were applied and the problem is cleared up.

    Thank you for the fast start tip, I always wondered why it was disconnected when I get up in the morning. Now let me offer you a tip about your TV speakers, I left mine on. The reason is, I have a very good audio system connected to my Roku TV. At night the low frequencies travel throughout the house and disturb other people. By using the TV speakers only this doesn’t happen in everybody’s happy.

    Your information you share and how you teach is amazing! I do personally find the music distracting and some of your videos it’s a little too loud somewhat & there for competes with your voice.
    I subscribe to your channel because the content you share is so informative and the way you speak is not too fast and not too slow but just perfect enough to process what you say after you say it.
    This truly makes you a gem because there’s many like you who teach on tax stuff and they simply speak too fast too fast to grasp what they’re doing too fast to follow and too fast to even process.
    Are you willing to help a subscriber by lowering your music perhaps even changing up your background noise?

Also check out Relax Tube, something new or I just discovered and both free. Relax Tube is great if you just want some background beach sounds and video. There are also others with that app depending on your preference.

Also, I turned OFF Roku's ability to change my home screen theme to seasonal/holiday images. For the life of me, I don't understand why people are so against getting personalized advertising. It's scary that you folks are so easily influenced by advertising that you are actually AFRAID of it. But I do know there is a Lego Theme Park near me. And I will likely never go. But its good to know. If you are so weak you can be influenced by targeted ads, you should probably stop watching altogether. Sad, really.

  • @BoomChild74

    Poosible ideas for your next video. There are two things specific to the TCL Roku TV that I had to figure out. One was the ARC setup in the HDMI CEC settings. I didn't want to have to fish another HDMI cable through my wall for return audio, so that helped a lot. The second thing was my HDR settings. I know there are more than one 'series' of the TCL TV's so I can't speak to the higher models, but on mine, when the HDR is active on 4k movies and shows, it reduces the brightness so much that it somewhat defeats the fact that it's 4k. Maybe my eyes are just old. But there's a 'secret' roku menu that you can access to disable or enable certain features of your TV. I'm sure you already know this, so I won't go into detail. But I thought those might be some good points to cover.

    As of 09 November 2022 my TCL Roku update is different as far as the advertising and privacy settings. Roku may have caught on to what we're all trying to do to keep our privacy policy "private". Anything for money I guess. And I don't have any of that extra stuff as far as Roku sticks or extended type Roku boxes or whatever the Hell those things are called. Just my Roku TV...that's all I need. Old guy here so I prefer my classic TV anyday than what's out today! METV is the only channel I'll watch, bad enough I have to pay for it through my cable. And I don't need a Roku stick or whatever the Hell just to watch Andy Griffith and Hogan's Heroes!
    But it's appreciated advising the privacy policy on the TCL Roku.

    I was wondering why I had no power setting and I came across this. Roku streaming players are low-power devices that are designed to remain on and always connected to the internet. There is no “power button” to press on or off. ... Your streaming player only uses your internet connection when streaming, or during the occasional automatic software update.

      Idk if it helps; hope you get it working : )

    Hello do you know if Rca Roku tv allows for casting? Thank you great video

    • @RichmanKnowsTech
      @RichmanKnowsTech  3 года назад

      Hi Bugg Nita. Great question. First make sure Screen Mirroring is enabled on your Roku. Go to Settings> System> Screen mirroring and choose your Screen mirroring mode (I use Prompt). Then open up the video app you want to cast on your cell phone (let's say RUclips), choose the video you want to cast, then select the 'cast' icon at the top. As long as you're on the same network, you TV should appear on the list. Just select your TV and wait until it connects. Hope this helps.

    Good information. Thank you. Do you know if I'd be able to use my long corded headphones with my Insignia tv and a basic roku streambar? I don't think the sound coming out of the streambar is all that great and I have excellent headphones. If I just plug them into the tv directly, can the roku streambar still play the movie? I would like to watch a few movies with my good, over ear headphones. I'm aware that I can plug headphones into the smartphone app, but what if I can't do that?I don't want to start plugging things in when I don't know what I'm doing.

    "Best possible viewing experience" for me : the connection stating "excellent" but getting disconnected every several minutes and a cute orange spinning buffering circle and a black screen. Setting the router literally next to the device does nothing as well. What is even more fun is just restarting the device hundreds of times as it requests you to do.

      I have the same problem. Mine will be off for like 4 days before it comes back on. No matter what I do. Makes me so damn mad! But what's weird about it only does it at certain times of the year and it's like once a month. Tells me that the wifi connection is excellent but can't connect. It will not connect on a Tuesday and not connect till sometime around 4 days later. Always the same way and once a month. I'd love someone to explain that to me!

    I've had 2 firesticks go bad on me already. Now I have 1 Roku tv and another tv hooked up to a Roku box. While firestick does have an internet browser, which Roku doesn't, I still prefer Roku. I didn't see any Roku hidden settings in this video. Just an overview.

    • @RichmanKnowsTech
      @RichmanKnowsTech  3 года назад +1

      Hi Mary and thanks for the reply. I have both a Roku TV, several roku streaming sticks, and numerous Firesticks and Fire TV's and I still like to use the Firesticks more than the built in Roku apps or the Roku sticks. The reason is the Firesticks just seem more user friendly to me, easier to navigate, and the UI is much better and more developed IMO. That being said, if I had similar problems with Firesticks going bad, I may feel the same as you. Either way, both products are great at delivering content, to me it's just personal preference as to which you prefer. Sorry if you didn't find anything useful in my video but I will be doing more Roku videos in the future that I hope you will find more informative. Thanks again, Mary!

    You're still going to get the same amount of ads, just now they're random generic ads instead of ads of things they think you'll like based on your taste.
