Every time I come back and watch this battle I still think MT Pop should have won. He was grooving harder, connecting hits on beat, and had cool unique tuts, all with a standout style of his own.
In my opinion, I think the bay area style is still new to the judges. It's a possibility that they were overthinking things a lot while judging. Not to discriminate or anything, but these are international judges. If it was up to judges from the US or someone who's been exposed to both styles, they would've chosen MT Pop. But that's just my opinion and oh btw, this style fits so well with MT Pop. He looks like he was born and raised in the bay, especially in San Jose. (We got Vietnam town in the eastside lol)
If he learns more about bay boog from the Oakland Boogaloo OGs, Harry Berry, PopLock, etc. I'm pretty sure he'll be one of the few poppers you don't want to battle. Even though he's already a monster as he is. lol

MT Pop is on a whole 'notha level!! As of 2019, there is no one that comes close from his creativity to his flawless transitions. He makes it look effortless. Even when he's hyped, he never compromises his smoothness. This guy is one of the most humble and respectful competitors. Excited to see what else he'll be adding to his massive arsenal in the following years.

Because this was in China I feel the judging (if the judges were Chinese) was rewarding ArtShow because of his appearance along with the fact he can dance. MT Pop was the winner to me but I do know in China appearance is a thing. The more clean and civilized you look the better in most cases. Props to both dancers though

But strut is also not only style that can deserve to win. All styles have different beauty for me. I do strut, tutting, boppin , animations and also EB flava. Just respect judgee decision. If you don't like the judges don't join. That's it

Mr Ryan, you need to watch the video again. MT had better moves, better technique and better execution. And flat out MORE moves. Artshow had weak moves, weak execution and nowhere close to as many moves as MT. He did a lot of the same moves over and over again. And I didnt see any PoP in his moves. His hitting was non existing. He did a lot of just regular dancing. I'm from way back to when pop locking first started in LA back in the late 70's and early 80's and MT could hang with most of OG's of that era. Artshow? TOO SOFT!
I much preferred MT first round, but much preferred Artshow's second round. I felt MT gets corny sometimes and it takes away from his dance. I loved his first round with the coat bite and the string waving. But Artshow was much better second round imo. didn't feel MT at all that round. So honestly not surprised by the decision. To me it wasn't clear cut. Could go another round, could go to MT, but it went to artshow. No complaints from me.
Art show 2nd round where he did the spin was horrible. Energy was not high. He didn't go with the vibe of the song either. His technique was way lower. One thing I can give to him is that he got his ground move game over MT (maybe)
Arte effect had more feeling but mt pop got originality And fundation. I dindt want to see art effect lose but mt pop won not by much. Arte effect is dope bit needs more angles and moves. Mt going for the green slim hoan status Ps: WALID=HATER!

MT seems more of an allstyles battler. If you know high level and more true to roots popping and boogaloo, you'd see artshow really encapsulating that original popping feel. I can see how the judges want to preserve that history
That the problem, E lectric boogaloo is not the only popping style, MT pop using bay area strutting style. The judge is 90 % EBs. If this battle happen in US the result will be different
@@noikfkzn5305 disagree, judges might do EB but they are also high level animators (guccon & kei) which should favor MT i didn't say artshow is doing electric boogaloo, he is preserving the original styles of popping and boogaloo (oakland/fillmore/EB). his moves are high level foundation like twistos, rolls, hits, toyman, while grooving inside those foundations. MT here is showing a lot of hip-hop based moves, funky influence from locking, and strutting. unfortunately, strutting kind of simplifies a lot of MT's techniques and he has to make up for it with highly creative tuts and animation.
