I have been fussing around with this origami box for ages, finally made the tutorial and also a diagram this time, hope you like it!
This model is my own design, after seeing a kind-of gem shaped box here on youtube, I was determined to make one, it is really just a masu box, with a chunk missing.
The hinge feature needs glue, but looks awesome and works really well!

▸ 2 square pieces of paper. Use any thickness you like!
I am using: 21 x 21 cm + 15.75 x 15.75 cm
1 is 3/4 the size of the other.
Say your bigger paper is 21 cm wide, the sum you can use is:
21 ÷ 4 = 5.25
5.25 x 3 = 15.75
▸ Glue (for the hinge)

+Paper Kawaii I did it! its zoo cool! Also, I used the templates from the given website, and this might be only a problem with my printer but the green one came out blue!

you started folding paper 21 cm or 17.5 cm paper ?
the first is the box 21cm, the lid was from 15.7cm :)
Paper Kawaii yes, but i printout the origami paper in papercrystal.com and the origami paper is 18x18 !!
Vennila CHANDRU If you use the 18cm paper for the box you will need the lid piece to be 13.5 x 13.5 cm..
The box in the photo is using the printable paper as the 15.75 cm lid.. hope that made sense! 😓

I messed up and ended up throwing mine in the trash. I tried about 51 times and still didnt get it right. :c

Theese are colorful papers with cristal-like structures all over the surface
I thint they can be good for this box, because it looks like a gem.

._. My lid was smaller than the box what went wrong
+Bernadette Yeo It could be that your paper is too thick, you could chop off a couple cm from the paper for the box. :)

I did it exactly the way u did it, same size, same fold but it turns out the lid is a giant and the base is an ant, and I replayed like a hundred time over and over again. It pissed me off!!! Ugh!
+mey linglim Sorry to hear that, a couple people have had this issue, make sure your paper is the right size to start with, you need one sheet thats 21 x 21 cm for the box and the paper for the lid is 15.75 x 15.75 cm
