    The Tele is basically a Baja w Gold hardware and the newer much needed, curved neck joint. I'm doing that to my Teles now the neck plate's available. I'm tired of bruising my hand. The mini cover doesn't go far enough tho, its the tiny screws that hold up the string barrels that cut your hand.

    • @HCrockt
      @HCrockt 3 года назад

      So why don‘t you take shorter screws? They are available in various lenghts. Selecting the right screw lengths will give you the smoothest feel (and saves your skin). Better than moaning.

  • @simonpilgrims
    @simonpilgrims 2 года назад +1

    First off...I've got to say a huge thanks for this review. I bought the strat 75th, not after watching this review but watching other youtube videos where it sounded so good..... So I recieved the guitar but man it just wasn't working for me. Almost sent it back. The sound was thin and plinky. I wanted that single coil overdrive cream that I wasn't able to get from my other humbucker guitars. Having watched this video I understand the problem. Having listened to Captain Lee's comments in this video. I raised the action. wow what a difference. I think the guitar was fretting out before, in the factory set-up. Considering now changing the 009s to 010s strings.

    • @jessesmith2906
      @jessesmith2906 2 года назад +1

      Before you do it also might have to do with the pickup height. Set your action to what you like, and then adjust the pick up height. To close to the strings it’ll sound harsh and brittle to far it’ll sound dull and muddy. Gotta find that spot where you like the most

    • @bpastorb
      @bpastorb 3 года назад +6

      ^ Yup American Original is what you want if you want nitro and American made. Not as bad as custom shop prices but still cost quite a bit. There are a couple Mexican models pretty much just road worn, but I'd pass on those for the price. If you are in the market for an American original strat do yourself a favor and compare it against a Eric Johnson signature. I'm not a fan of his music but his signature model has great specs very comparable to a 50's original at a very similar price.

    • @gregs8685
      @gregs8685 3 года назад +2

      Or get a Nash S57/S63 for under $2k IIRC.

    • @danielkongmusic
      @danielkongmusic 3 года назад +2

      Yeah nitro offerings vary from company to company. Many companies do use poly primers to varying extents, so it's not really useful trying to find the "truest" or "most nitro" nitro finish but rather find the guitar brand whose nitro finishes feel the best to you. I like Fender nitro (on their AVRI and American Original series) more than Suhr, which I find a bit plasticky. Best nitro in my opinion comes from Japanese brands, check out Van Zandt, Momose, Navigator etc. I'd say go MJT for a well priced option, they have fully completed nitro guitars starting at $1599

    That thin Stat sound can actually work great with hi gain ;-)

      The Chrissy Hines (The Pretenders) model Tele apparently has a very slim neck

    I love the Tele but how many more ways can they think of to over charge for a guitar.

      I just got this 75th Tele used and the fit, finish, and overall quality are outstanding. However, you do pay a premium for the 75th one off. If you can deal with narrow tall frets and V-mod pickups, the Pro 2 Tele is the better bargain. Same quality, same fretboard feel, at $400 less. The 75th though seems priced competitively, you can go the Fender Mod shop route and get a burst with gold hardware with your choice of pickups and fretboard, and it'll run about the same price as this, although the mod shop doesn't have the 75th's exact color, pickups, nor fret size as options. You can get pretty close to the look though. The Pro 2 line is definitely the best one and what I would recommend over any of the one-offs, they're very consistent and will hold up in value well (I paid less for the 75th used than what a brand new Pro 2 costs, but I also liked the Twisted pickups more through my Supersonic than the V-mods). The Sienna Burst looks awfully close, the 75th burst is just a tad darker on the edges.

    Are the 75th Anniversary stickers to be left on the pick guards?

    Hey Mr Captain, the Twisted Tele pickups are high output, even says on your website :) Still sounds vintage though!

    Lovely looking guitars. Also Lee's best playing to date on the outro jam. I honestly thought that was Pete! Interested in the backing tracks. Which one is that at the end? I’d like to buy it from Bandcamp.
