7-9-2023 - Thunderstorm With Constant Lightning And Small Hail

This storm was unexpected. It showed up randomly on the radar about 10-miles from my location and got stronger as it got closer, you'll notice the lightning gets more frequent as the storm gets closer, indicating the storm is strengthening. I wasn't going to put my camera outside, because it was super late at night and I was tired, but I was monitoring this storm and finally decided it was worth recording for you all! The lightning got so intense it was impossible for me to sleep anyway lol. At the beginning of the storm there was some small hail falling, probably quarter-inch hail and maybe up to half-inch hail judging by the sound it was making on my gutters (scientific analysis I know lol). The weather channel didn't report any hail but you can clearly hear it in the video, this storm probably surprised them though cause it did pop up out of nowhere. There is some rolling thunder and a few loud hits but nothing real crazy as far as thunder in this video, most of the lightning was cloud-to-cloud strikes, they're quieter than cloud-to-ground strikes, they just give off that rolling thunder sound you hear in this video. After this storm passed my location it quickly dissipated as if it was never even there in the first place lol. The lightning was pretty intense for such a small short-lived storm! the heat dome/heat wave down here in tex makes us have no rain. can't wait to see shit like this again!
(edit: that lightning activity is usually about what we have in the hill country. maybe a little more intense, but pretty close. love it!)
