  • EMTB tech innovations are advancing at an astonishing rate, with more & more tech being crammed into the latest EMTB models, but are there any key benefits to this and can it really affect the average rider? Steve Jones has got his hands on the latest G6 model from Greyp Bikes to test this question out up in the Welsh wilderness, as he takes an in-depth look at the latest in E-Mountain Bike tech offerings from Croatian-based Greyp Bikes!

    I had an order in for months, they kept delaying it over and over again, then they got hit with a major battery problem which lead to a delay of an unknown length. I canceled my order... I was hyped for Greyp but got reality checked by them unfortunately.

    Niche product. I believe the future of eMTB is the minimalist approach and lesser weight. Transition Relay for example

    • @stefanwagener
      @stefanwagener 2 года назад

      Software doesn't weight anything and often with software you have the choice of not using it if you don't like to. Bike computer or phone probably most use anyhow and the 10g webcam and 5g for mobile network chip isn't really relevant in terms of weight ... rest of the mentioned functionality is defined through software. And most eBikes today come with some form of connectivity already ... so this is probably not a niche product (at least not by functionality, but probably by price) ... just the next level of functionality that most eBikes will come with in a few years.

    You lot buying this sort of bike are light years being the DIY market and paying premium for it. DIY market has had this stuff for years. We are way ahead of the curve and we pay alot less money to get there with huuuuge 1500wh+ batteries with the best cells, 200+nm torque, 50mph+ speeds. It prob cost me a third of that bike too. I even have bbshd's and its little brother bbs02 which would annihilate any off the shelf bike. On the other hand, the bike is more of a gadget than a bike. Geometry numbers are ridiculous, spec is mediocre, etc. The only things that are ok are the (new) battery and the motor.
    Who wants to cruise around, explore, play with and brag about the gadgets and not think too much about hta, sta, chainstay length, reach, etc. and how those numbers will affect their ride - go for it.

      The cable connection to the phone however is also serving as a charger, you can't run off phone battery since it's recharged over the traction battery.
      Even with blootooth hydraulic brake cables would still be there, and stuff like remote lock out or dropper posts typically are activated over steel cables.

Forestal have managed to integrate their screen that includes all these gadgets and gps into the top tube where it is safe and practical.
