Nice interview. Learned new things. Love his passion and perspective on the future of Rpgs. We have also started to focus on getting younger people into the hobby. I statted a free roleplaying club since my original groups have shattered and scattered. I sent the word out and i thought there would be some dudes at their 40-50 ies that would show interest. However i just got young people. Alot of people that struggle socially or doesnt fit at sports or mainstream activities. They come together. They learn. They play. They form friendships. People that have said that they were lonely and friendless have now found new community. Alot of creative people. I am excited to see what they can come up with in the long run.
I must admit that I havent played the game. I just saw so many bad reviews from people and I backed off.

What you described about young folks joining a roleplaying club who might struggle socially or who don’t really get mainstream activities describes perfectly how the majority of the folks in our podcast met and befriended each other many decades ago.
These games we’ve been playing together since our teens has been a consistent place of comfort over the years and physical distance from each other. So it’s nice to hear that more young people are starting that journey.
About the game, like I mentioned in the interview, we’ve played a ton of superhero games (more than I mentioned) and each have our preferences. However, after some of our cast played with another actual play podcast (Rolling Across the Pond), I’m a lot more interested in it. Listening to how much fun they had gave me some FOMO 😂
      Thanks for watching!

@@theaarpgs Thank you for sharing that. That warms my heart and encourage me to keep advocating for spreading/sharing our wonderful hobby.
Roleplaying appeals to something deep within us as a species. Before humans gathered around the fire or tables to tell stories or share experiences. Now we do the same. We just add some dice and some papers. I think that is such an integral part of the human experience.
I will look into the game and give it a try. I love the genre. I think also those games work best when people focus on having fun and not overanalyze the system to see if it breaks down with different powerlevels and powers. Not even the super hero lore does that consistently either. It's difficult to make a system that includes every what ifs and small details.

In glass cannon channel they interviewed him and said that in x men expansion, that they want find solution to rank system (where people like natural progression instead of both player and DM party agrees to upgrade their rank)
Here's hoping in 5+ years they plan to do a second edition after their many expansion and experience with ups snd downs
I think them releasing video guide IN month of deadpool and wolverine movie is perfect (because of trailer and thank you video are from official marvel channel) and was the reason i found out about this roleplay
Someone on reddit asked on future expansion and i actually agree with one of them mentioning a new york book that's just all about maps and location of each hero (where's baxxton building or fantastic four location of the building or even avengers tower) as someone who isn't from America, a marvel new york book would be great for me

That’s some great insight. Thanks! This was our first time talking to Matt. I’m hoping that we get some more experience playing the game so next time we can ask some more probing questions.
Maybe an omnibus with optional rules or an “advanced” book might be something that might satisfy that need.
How would you rate it vs some of the other superhero games you’ve played?

@@theaarpgs I don't own corebook yet but I have rpg list that either I own or want to own in future whether it's free or comes with price
Some general rolaplay that I read or skim usually takes couple of reread and maybe video guide to get grasp of everything (to be fair I do that with board game as well, which is both reading manual and watching the video)
As far as superhero comparison, there's few in my list that can be compared and see the difference. There's Gotham city chronicles which recently released a pdf, that one is all about Gotham and not full on dc and the character sheets seems bit complex for people who like to dig deep into roleplay
There's persona fan made called grimoire of hearts that kinda like superhero in way, is actually but complex and is taking me a lot of time to understand and make sure to get everything right, as of writing this comment, there is only one video regarding persona rpg and it's one shot (no how to or guide yet)
Smallville is surprisingly a licensed rpg which probably might be closer to compare but I haven't actually took time to read it yet so I can't give you any idea other than it should tackle the life of balancing what being civilian and what being a hero is
Masks is another that comes to mind that's all focused on being a teenage hero and more like how spiderman needs balancing
Marvel multiverse as far as I'm seeing on video and roleplay related subreddit, it's far easier to run but it's also not very complex for DM (they keypoint is it's easy for player but very easy for DM, hope you get what I mean) the rank system seems to be mixed or controversial to those who experienced roleplay and those who haven't don't care.
Overall, I think with enough time and effort and many expansions including a DM screen and DM guide that has a lot more to work for, then the mix reception that I see might go down a bit, at least until another corebook edition or 2nd edition to fix few stuff here and there and buff some stuff and nerf others and rebalance whatever fans had or is currently having issue with it and rework if necessary on some rules
And lastly, posting adventure is good step and making one shot is even better (with hydra free one shot and Deadpool one shot that's cheap) and they have confirmed via glass Cannon channel that they plan to do more of that

@@theaarpgs one more thing I want to add, if I can get my hand on corebook early, I might plan to run it on comic con which for me begins on October

I picked up a short adventure on Free RPG day.
My friends and I had played a bunch of older superhero games like Champions, Heroes Unlimited and the two prior Marvel games. My personal favorites are the original Marvel game I mentioned in the interview, known as FASERIP and Champions. Champions is for people who like spreadsheets. lol
