I actually met Scherbak when he played for Montreal’s farm team the St. John’s Icecaps. It was when he had an ankle injury, so he was downtown having some drinks.
He was actually a really nice guy and hung out with me for like 40 minutes!

I'd give him a tryout and see how well his work ethic is first. Words are one thing, actually doing it is another. Since he admitted, a tryout is the best offer he can probably get right now.

I don’t see the harm in giving him a league minimum contract. If he really wants a shot in the nhl he’ll take it, and who knows maybe we get a solid top 9 guy out of it

Honestly as a Habs fan if we had room in Laval i'd be willing to give him another chance to prove himself, he always seemed like a good kid who got lost at one point and couldnt handle the pressure, its all part of maturing into an adult lord knows the things i said in my early 20s are far from who I am now so i'm not mad at him, its about growth in the end and if he's in the right space its good for him.
Being a young up and coming NHL player in MTL can be lead to self destruction if not for the right support system there's a whole lot of temptations and he's certainly not the first and won't be the last who gets caught up, best of luck to him though!

He was a good player for us in Everett (WHL) but perhaps a little 'young' so some of his challenges are not from talent but maturity

If Scherbak said these comments in a small market, would they have affected him cracking an NHL roster? Hmm

I am still upset about his comment being Montreal didn't like Russian players or didn't treat them well. Maybe the Markov's situation tripwired him to say that. Clearly he had his chances in Montreal, but he just could not pan out the way he had hope for.

People make mistakes in life and I believe in second chances. Perhaps being a father and such has helped him mature as a person. Good for him and I’m willing to see him in a more positive light.

@@vsportsgaming9289 Have you seen their cap space??? Once they put Klefbom on LTIR, the cap relief goes to signing Ethan Bear to a new contract. They are currently over the salary cap and can't take in more salary. They'll have to make due with their off season signings in Turris, Kahun, Ennis, and also the return of Puljujarvi.
