Steam can support 2560*1440p ? I playing gta v game through steam my moniter 1440p but revolution exporting 1080p can u fix this for me sir please 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 please reply ASAP
Hey there, Steam does support that resolution, yes. However, the game graphics engine might not. Try this: -screen-width 2560 -screen-height 1440, also try with: -windowed at the end
Tried the first 3 methods. I either get a grey box pop up saying "?-> -w" or "?-> screen-width". Trying to change resolution of Ys: Origin. Nobody else seems to be having the same issue as me.
Hey there, sorry for late reply! Did you put spaces inbetween? If you did not then it didnt recognize the command, spafes are manadatory. Also, where do you get the grey box? Is it in Steam or in game?
@@Guide4Ever I managed to fix my issue by going into the configuration file within the Ys Origin folder. The configuration doesn't show up on the Steam UI. I wasn't making any mistake because I tried it with other games and it worked. I had the spaces. I think it might be unique for Ys Origin. The grey popup box was your typical Windows popup box when you get an error. Going into detail, when Ityped in those dimensions and when I clicked Start on the game on Steam. That windows popup would appear after 2 or 3 seconds while the start button has become a stop button. The game doesn't laucnh. When I clicked ok on the windows popup box, the stop button steam reverts back to start.
I tried this and it didn't quite work it came up with an error saying Invalid parameter -w here is the command I inputted incase your wondering: "-w 1920 -h 1080"
@@Guide4Ever I'm trying to run Broken Sword 3. I can't remember which resolution I picked in the launch screen and after that the launch screen turned small and it's all white and it's loading something (nothing happens though). So I can't change the resolution and the game is unplayable. Any idea how can I return default settings for the game? Method in the video correcting resolution didn't work unfortunately :( re-installing game didn't work either obviously It's a very old game in the series I loved playing with PS when I was on my twenties. I have tried to find solutions for this with zero luck. Please help me. Any help would be appriciated.
Sometimes, scaling the resolution does not help with FPS. It is mainly because the pixels have to be computed at the same rate as with higher resolution. Changing the amount of detail and removing extra filters (anti-aliasing, etc.) helps.
Hey there! That is also an option. But be careful because not all monitors support 2560x1440 aka 1440p. Sometimes it gets black barred on the side . You need to check aspect ratio of your monitor. This tutorial explains aspect ratio fairly well: support.squarespace.com/hc/en-us/articles/115008538927-Understanding-aspect-ratios#:~:text=Aspect%20ratios%20are%20written%20as,would%20still%20be%201%3A1. This link shows display aspect ratio for all types of screens: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display_aspect_ratio If you want to do 1440p but your monitor isnt 16:9, black bars will appear, either vertical or horizontal ones.
Sorry for late reply, make sure that there is always 1 space inbetween. And keep in mind that some games cannot be stretched for some reason. I think it's the game launcher preventing it or the game itself.
@@Guide4Ever no man. i tried your way . no luck but i made the resolution changes in the file C:\Users\[username]\Documents\The Witcher 3\dx12user and C:\Users\[username]\Documents\The Witcher 3\dxuser.setting.bak
@@Opacity5 interesting, so the resolution was saved to .bak file and game was reading resolution info from there..first time seeing this. Thanks for responding back!
@@Guide4Ever i am pretty sure it worked just that i was using nvidia image scaling and my cpu is giving me a bottle neck so i'm not getting more fps thats why i thought it did not work
Also doable, the aspect ratio factor is 16/10 = 1.6, which means that you need to multiply the height by 1.6 to get the width or divide the width by 1.6 to get the height (when you set dimensions). You also have to force aspect ratio to 1.6! Usually all combinations are possible because essentially what you are doing with different aspect ratios (16:10, 16:9, 4:3 etc.) is just stretching either the width or the height of the image frame. You can play around. Set the aspect ratio to 1:1 and you will have an image, that is defaulted 16:9, getting resized to a square with a huge area of black bezels on both sides since your monitor is rectangular rather than square. Quite fun :P
which game did you need to change the resolution for?
csgo to 4/3 stretched
sorry its not work for street fighter 6 (2560 x 1600)
baldurs gate 3, it wont let me pick a lower res and my pc cant handle native monitor res
bejeweled twist because its incredibly old so it wasnt updated to automatically adjust so when launched it crashes
Fnaf 1
Interesting info, but none of it worked or did anything or made a difference.
Which game was it? I will try to find more info on it.

Sorry to hear that, I will check out if I find something else. I am currently seeing that many games have no support for launch options anymore.
@@Guide4Ever thanks anyway but I "solved" if it can be called a solution, by lowering the resolution of the screen itself instead of the game.

it says -w is an unvalid parameter
what do i do?
Did you make exactly 1 space inbetween? It's space sensitive.
