I spent the start of this day late last night cleaning up some spots on my computer drives. I’m just trying to organize my writing into folders.
As mentioned in the video last year I had a request by the Mountain King Jon Oliva to write some heavy riffs. I kinda took it a step further. I wrote and recorded this song. It is a part two of the old Savatage classic “The Dungeons are calling”.
It’s kinda written about how the Savatage Legions have been calling for us to do something again. Also in this case Oliva was calling! 🤣😎⛰👑😈
I mentioned this idea in some recent interviews and of course some opinionated internet trolls had to jump on it. “I hate part two of songs”. You know the type. The ones that hate food before they try it. Then could still like it after trying it but since they said they hated it will always hate it! 🤪🤣🤭🤯
Its pretty cool though...I used a similar format but added some background vocals and twists and turns. I had to put the Oliva screech on the demo! Jon always sez I sound like his mini me. I am like yes...I’m like Jon in every way, just 1/8th his size! 🤣🤭
Here’s my lyrics for the first verse, pre chorus and chorus. Not really sure what will ever happen with this tune but many people have asked to hear it or little teases of what I’ve written for Savatage. So don’t post and say “Chris Caffery shares new Savatage song” because it’s not! As of now it’s just an idea I wrote for Oliva to hear and I’m sharing it with you! 😎🤘🏼A WRITING DEMO! 😜

When I was 8 years old, I've got my first metal tape and listen it on my Walkman again and again. On the A-Side was the "Sirens" Album and on the B-Side was the "Iron Maiden - women in uniforn" Single.
And now I did got goosebums, what an amazig Song!!! Pleased come to Germany again, The Sava-Legions are waiting for this so important reunion.
Chris- respect, love from Rochester. I'm 53 and grew up during ,80s. My hair metal co- guitarist especially loved Savatage. I'm the type that digs for truth, I feel like I'm reading between the lines it's obvious your skill level is at the top, I'm feeling like the SBO show may be one way to do your thing and not be subject to what so many other musical acts cannot avoid as they ascend in their careers. Been listening to Savatage since the mid eighties and I think Jon has the most incredible voice. I miss them so much. The dungeons are calling again sounds OMG so Cool, it takes me back to the glory days. I hope things align and this album get made. Savatage has always held a special place in my heart. They were there with me most of my life through the good and bad and if I ever wanted to hear the best metal on the planet id turn to Savatage. God bless you guys and rest in peace Criss.
Absolutely brutal! Fingers crossed the album comes out by mid next year and if the rest of the album sounds half as good as this track it will be a masterpiece.

That was Killer!!! I just listen to an interview with Oliva it was about 6 or 8 months old but he said that he's doing another Savatage record and then it's going to be EPIC! We've gone far too long without a new Sav record!

Fuck! That's just what we need now in 2022! True old school Savatage. I love all the eras of 'tage but the 80s stuff made me a fan for life. Just return to the roots and write a solid metal album. Show the youngsters how to do it.
