I have come to the conclusion based on my own experience that Delta 100 is the best film for a balanced combination of fine grain, sharp detail and beautiful tonality.
Superb video Tom, Beautiful location and Black & White film photography. Look forward to your videos and very inspirational. I'm a fan of long exposure.
How do you find the exposure latitude on the Delta 100. I love the rich contrasts of the whites and the blacks. They say PanF50 is a hard film to work with, so wondering if Delta is as good, but with a extra stop of light to play with. :)
@@grahamhutton3129 I find Delta 100 pretty good. I would agree that pan f 50 if more tricky and I find it easier to blow the highlights but if you get it right pan 50 is a stunning film.
Thanks Peter it’s one of those places you keep going back to because of the sheer beauty of the place. I imagine we will cross paths one of these days whilst out on photo adventures. Thanks again Tom 👍
As a photographer based in Cornwall, you have captured our beautiful landscape perfectly, just got yourself another subscriber and I look forward to seeing more of your videos :)
Youve done it again Tom! Love it. Its clear that you know this coastline like the back of your hand.. it shows in your love for the place and how you plan each frame. The 3rd last photo.. love it! What a haunting place with the ruins! Bravo Tom...love it!
Thanks Lee it’s certainly a long way I’ve got a wedding in Norfolk in a couple of weeks. I’m looking forward to combining it with a week of landscape photography on the Broads and along the Norfolk coast. Thanks again Tom.
@@tomwhelan Hi Tom, have a great time in Norfolk and look forward to seeing any photos you take over this way. It's always good to get a new perspective on an area that you know well.
Fine work Tom lovely mono stuff in a cracker location. I have the RB67 a monster of a camera but love it. Liked n subbed happy to support a fella creator
Thanks very much Paul I really appreciate it, I’ve given you a sub and I’m looking forward to having a proper look at your channel later. Thanks again Tom 🙏
Tom, I recently hauled out my RZ and lenses but with Ilford Pan F developed in Kodak D-23 in my Jobo tank (continuous agig itation as a one-shot developer @18*C) using B&W contrast filters and made 20"x24" fiber based enlargements in my darkroom wit Delta 100 as a "control".I'm in love with the depth of tone in the PanF prints, although SOME Delta 100 negatives have "something" the Pan F's don't.. Call it "interior contrast"- dodging and burning-in CAN compensate especially on graded paper. Honestly Pan F, Delta 100, Rollei 25 and Rollei 100 COULD be my four favorite medium/slow speed films, with a vote for Rollei Retro 80S. You owe it to yourself to try slower films . Night-time street-light photos with PanF rated at ISO 4-8 and "pull processed" 25-33% will give you full roll of easy-to-print night-shots, with detail in the shadows and no 'blown-out"liht bulbs.
Really nice work. I love using my ten stop with film too. Ilford is the ideal film to use since they state their reciprocity correction factor in datasheets whereas Kodak just tells you to work it out yourself!
Thanks again for the vid. Tom. Some more gorgeous black and whites. Hard to select a favourite. After influencing me to try IR photography, it looks as though I will have to invest in a ND filter next! BTW, whar filter system do you use? I can see that it would be easier to slide a filter in and out of a holder that to screw one in and out.
Thanks David it’s definitely worth investing in a ND filter it opens up so many options with photography. I use the Lee filter system with 100 mm filters it’s a great system. There are also excellent screw in options for ND filters if your just after 1 filter as it would be a lot cheaper. If you want to use various filters and especially graduated filters the Lee filter system is the way to go. I hope this helps many thanks Tom.
good to see delta being used... i use it for my 5x4 work. have you done n-1 etc development on these, or brought up shadow detail post scanning? Delta doesnt have much latitude, and seeing you werent using graduated filters.. in my experience, you would of lost highlight detail shooting the way you did?
Your quick coupler is slow. Why do people love ND 10 filters? The shutter sound is not like the long exposure of a RZ 67.. Photograhy is not taking changes and accept it went wrong. Not using your cable releasa on purpose?
Thanks Ray I mostly scan these days. I do have a darkroom for traditional printing but I find the chemicals have started to make me feel unwell in recent years. I do still love printing in the darkroom though, it can’t be beaten.
Beautiful scenes and great photographs. Very, very good video. Thank you. RS. Canada

Thanks very much Peter. That’s very true about Kodak you definitely do have to figure it out yourself.

Far better results WITHOUT the 10 stop, Tom. I like water to look like water.
Do you print from your negs or just scan 'em?
