When Freddie was asked what instrument his favorite was he replied, "The audience, darling". Freddie's crowd control was second to none and Queen made some songs geared towards audience participation. They were the Kings of the Stadium concerts in the 80's. Their performance of this song in Rio de Janeiro in 1985 was in a stadium built for 250,000 people and it looked like a full house. They played two nights to a total of 600,000 people! The Brazilians speak Portuguese and despite that sang every word of this song in English to the band and Freddie just basked in the glory of it, letting them sing. At their current concerts ‘Queen w/Adam Lambert’.. they still play this, with Brian singing (and playing his guitar), and toward the end, a hologram of Freddie, from this concert, joins Brian to sing to the crowd. The crowd, as they did here, join in throughout the song to sing with Brian.. and of course he encourages them to do so. There will never, ever be a replacement for Freddie.. but Adam does a great job singing all of they Queen catalog of songs.. but there are a few, like this one, where Freddie is still honored - as is appropriate!! BTW, they’re on tour again in US this fall.. and already sold out.. Thank-you for your thoughtful reaction to this amazing band.

Sometime, listen to the album version - it's quite different.. with piano instead of guitar as the basis... vocal harmonies from the band, and Brian even played HARP.. appreciate your reactions..
Awwwww the beautiful Love Of My Life penned by Freddie for his true love Mary Austin. Tho their romance ended Mary remained an integral part of his life .. truly a devoted life-long friend to Freddie! He considered Mary his common-law wife even tho he had relationships with men! Mary inherited over 50% of Freddie’s estate after his death. The studio version is magical.

When little white girls were screaming over others like frankie valle.i was so blessed to have parents that introduced me to Mozart to Broadway. This is such a beautiful song.
You should watch this song performed at Rock N Rio. If you do, keep in mind that even though they are playing to an audience that primarily speaks Portuguese they sing to him in perfect English. Brian even gets a call out as well.
