    I used to live in England for a number of years and I too found some things a bit shocking, things that I now can't imagine not having in my life either. I agree with you I would have never tried milk in tea in the states, it's just something I have never seen or heard anyone do here. It seemed strange to me, but it works. I also go to a place here in the states called "MOD Pizza" the mod stands for "Made On Demand". And they have roasted corn that you can put on your pizzas along with roasted garlic roasted broccoli... Etc. And these roasted vegetables are the best on a pizza. Never would have thought it would work... But it does! One of the things I now just love that I first ate in England... and it's so simple, but oh so good are cheese and tomato sandwiches! I now love, love, love just cheese and tomato sandwiches. I would have never had Or bought a sandwich with just cheese and tomato on it... LOL! In the states that sandwich better have some ham, some turkey, some meat, some something else on it for me to have bought it... LOL!! I would have never thought that tomatoes and cheese on a baguette with butter would be something I would want, but now I crave them... LOL! And my life was changed by the Lotus Biscoff biscuits / cookies I got in a local little tea shop in East Anglia for the first time! I thought I would never be able to enjoy the goodness of that cookie again once I returned to the States, and was overjoyed and delighted to have been able to find them in the international section (and now in the regular cookie section) of my local grocery stores! Those cookies give me Life and Joy all at the same time... LOL! And I was thrilled to find that there's a Nando's in my home state, (I have to travel a couple of hours to get there, but it's worth it) that was one of my go to places when I lived abroad and I'm glad I don't have to live without it... LOL! Sorry this was so long, Love your Channel!

      @renee176 4 года назад +7

      @@joeyluvshouse The combination was something that I had never even heard of until I went to England. I did have scones in the States before I traveled abroad, but they were more like a pastry hockey puck here... well, at least the places that I had went to tasted that way (they probably make them somewhere here in the states similar to the good ones I had in England, but I haven't found them)... LOL! But I fell in love with the scones with clotted cream whilst overseas... Yummy!!

      @@mompuff6857 If I remember correctly... Fingers crossed... I think it was shredded cheddar or mozzarella on the tomato and cheese sandwich. "English Breakfast Tea" is black tea, its's strong and has a astringent tannin flavour and you tone it down with a bit of milk - the right sort of tea to get you going in the morning! Earl Grey is also a black tea but flavoured with bergamot. Other teas are lighter and usually taken without milk and sugar so as to appreciate their flavour and fragrance.

    I really enjoyed this video, it’s always interesting as a Londoner to see a different perspective, particularly when someone has actually been here long term. Videos from someone who has visited for a week tend to have weird, incorrect assumptions I find, where your like “erm... no, that’s not a thing .”
    Anyway I especially enjoyed this because I was seeing a New Yorker for a good few years and could relate. I managed to get him into appreciating a proper (proper !) cup of tea- starting with earl grey and almond/oat but evolving into the real deal breakfast tea with cows milk, every morning (and heaps of sugar. Couldn’t sway that American love of sugar...)
    He also thought sweetcorn on pizza was wild. I thought it was weird it ISN’T a thing over there! And was always annoyed I couldn’t get it, it’s one of my favourite toppings...
    Loved seeing how these things make you happy in a small way and hope you continue to enjoy London life...

      Makeba Jackson, I think it is because you are Blessed. I’m British-Scottish and I feel the exact same way about the USA. I lived in the USA for over 3 years it was super weird and fun too. I met an American pastor in Scotland, he was amazed at how much he loved Scotland and how he didn’t appreciate where he grew up much. I told him I think it would work both ways. So if I lived where he grew up I would be think it was great because it wasn’t until I had lived in England, Germany and the USA, then when I went back I appreciated it more. But thank God I still want to see and experience all He has for me. Btw a lot of people consider the pinky thing to be rude. So I know we are both Blessed, IJN Amen

      I know you didn't ask my particular opinion , but I would like to answer the question from my perspective. Please know I'm not trying to be rude or insensitive at all, and that I loved and enjoyed... And miss... a great many dishes that I had whilst living in England. I would say that the biggest difference I found was in the seasoning of the food. I would say that we are more heavy-handed when it comes to seasoning and using sugar compared to the UK in general (not including Asian, African , Jamaican food...Etc). But I think that's the beauty of exploring other places you learn how other people and cultures enjoy different things and live daily in their particular country and that's a good thing! The more we can learn about and understand one another the better it can be for all of us. Take care!

      @@renee176 No offence at all on my side. Being from Jamaican heritage I love the spices of Caribbean and even Indian cuisine but being born in the UK I oddly enough have also grown to love some less flavoursome traditional English dishes like Roast Dinners Chicken/Beef inc. yorkshire puddings 😋 , Fish and Chips even the odd meat pie. This type of stuff is warm comfort food and kind of grows on you, can't be beaten esp. in the cold winter months.
