Or do you have any tips or advice?
@@SugarSweetMocha Yes, I would say put it in a place, where the soil will get dry quickly. It may be too late already. So, maybe you should take the plant out of the pot and check the roots. They may be rotten

I'm not sure if French lavender is more sensitive to repotting. It may be that the roots were a bit damaged or maybe it acclimates to your conditions not so well. I always recommend repotting 1-2 weeks after purchase, when they adapt to our specific conditions, which are so different from greenhouses

OK, so I got two lavender at the grocery store. They were beautiful there. I brought them home and set them outside near where I water a bit more but because they were heavily watered at the store, I did not water them. The temperatures here got very hot (105 F 40C) and they started looking very bad within a couple of days, so decided to plant them, which I did after the sun went down. When I removed them from their pots (they were double potted at the store, both plastic), the roots were super warm and wet, even though I had not watered them. I put them in the ground, I have good drainage, kind of rocky soil with some clay which I mixed in a little amendment, but not a lot and let them sit overnight before watering. I did water them early the next morning before it got hot, and since them have just wet the foliage a little in the early morning and evening once it cools down. They really look so bad, I'm wondering if they will come back, or should I just cut my losses and try again when it's not so hot? I live in CA where we have a very mild climate, usually, but we're going through a serious heat wave now.
Hey Gail. I would say wait with these ones, maybe they have shock from being transported and transplanted. Maybe they'll recover. Clay will retain water for a long time actually, which is not good for lavenders. If these die, maybe it's a good idea to wait and buy the other plants after the heat wave. Living in a hot season country. Bought lavender plants couple of times and all lasted 2-3 weeks long. I followed sun exposure time and not water frequently as I read and watched how to grow the plant. So frustrating as I really want to grow this plant
Hey chey nocon. Maybe try to let your lavender get used to your environment first. Even though they like to grow under the direct sunlight, if they come from a greenhouse, where the air humidity is very high, they may need time to get acclimated to your environment.
Thanks. I put the last plant i bought indoor and close window with morning sun. I thought it will be good coz plant looked happy and healthy for few days. But then..
I live in hot country. I grow them outside. Trust me, they don't like "direct intense sun" or to get "bone dry" in hot (highs above 95F) dry conditions - regardless of what anyone says.
Thank you Anna for your videos on lavender. I am currently living in the tropical region, very humid. I notice my lavenders always wilt 2-3weeks after repotting and I have no idea why but when I plant them with cuttings they usually survive longer. Any idea or tips?
Hi LionelCasillas, maybe the issue is with the method of repotting. Lavenders suffer a lot from transplant shock. Maybe you can repot them this way: ruclips.net/video/eY17fTEWJ6k/видео.html

Hi, thanks a lot for watching my videos :) If the soil is damp, it's better to wait. If your lavender doesn't have enough direct sunlight, the soil may get dry slow and there can be a risk of root rot. Also, lack of direct sunlight may cause leggy growth and your lavender will not bloom. Is it possible to move it to a sunnier place? As for the soil, you don't need to cover the whole stem, just the base, like they are normally planted is enough

Hey Viktoriia, it can be fungus. I would cut the leaves, but also use some sprays against fungus. Maybe ask in the garden centers around you what they have. Also, maybe it's worth taking a picture of the damaged flowers, a close up, and show them. I assume it's a fungus, but without seeing it, it's hard to tell. I may be wrong. Please let me know what they say. :)
This is our first year growing lavender in our raised beds. I purchased 5" tall plants called Edelweiss White Lavender and they're not doing well. I made raised rows, added base layer of gravel, mixed 2/3 cotton burr compost and 1/3 sand. The other genetic Phenomenal is growing spikes already and the White Edelweiss looks slightly grey and stunted in growth. We have received lots of rain in the last few weeks, but I have not watered the plants. My english lavender is doing well in a pot and already has purple spikes. It was been 4 weeks and no spikes emerging for the white. We are in Zone 6b in Southwest Missouri. Please help!
Hey Jared, your lavender may suffer from transplant shock+overwatering due to rain. Unfortunately, in this case there is not much you can do. The best scenario will be, if the weather gets really warm, so that the soil gets dry faster. This way the plants will not get rotten. The rain is always a problem with lavenders, if they are just planted and not established yet. Another option is to take the plants out, plant them in fresh and not so wet soil (maybe even in pots) and plant them back in the raised beds, when the weather is stable warm without rains. But this is a lot of work and double stress for the plants. Hope they will recover. 🌸
Thank you so much, Mel! 🌸 I use sandy soil, usually it's a potting mix for succulents and cacti and I add a lot of sand (Lechuza) and perlite. I don't measure the exact proportions, but just add just approximately

Hi Anna thanks for sharing how to care for lavenders. I just bought my second lavender 2 days ago and the first one like abt a week ago. My concern is that when the sun gets too hot like at noon time where they get direct hot sun they starts to wilt I get so tempted to water them and after i water them theyre back alive again but my problem is that this happens everyday and the soil hasnt dried yet and still moist and when the hot sun comes shining thru them again they get wilted I'm afraid I might be harming them watering them everytime they get wilted.
Yes, watering seems to be too much for them. Maybe you can change their place and put them in a semi-shade. Observe how they will grow there, and if the new growth is leggy, then move to a brighter place?
Hi! As i can see we have in commun plant's passion and violet's passion 'cause is my favorite color too. Also i have a lavander little tattoo i love lavender. Thanks for sharing! 💜
Hi Waldina, there are many varieties of Lavenders, but the care is more or less the same. Some may be more tolerant of colder temperatures, but all of them don't like to be overwatered
Hi Anna, thank you for your video! I purchased a lavender topiary plant. It was doing well for 3 days and later started to wilt. I took it outside for a while to get some sunlight and was sure to bring it back in because it has been rainy some nights. It still looks wilted. Leaves are green though. I am trying hard to revive my plant. Do you advise cutting some of the bloomed flowers?
Hey Maria, if the flowers are done blooming, you can cut them. It seems it had a shock from changing the environment. If it's not overwatered, it should recover in a couple of days. You can also check for aphids. As soon as I bring mine outside, there are tons of aphids on it, and they can suck the juice out of your plant. I treat the plants with neem oil before bringing outside.
Hi Anna, great video. I bought 5 pots of lavender from a seller and just as you said, one by one they started drooping 2 days after taking them home (so sad..) On the first day I guess I over watered them by accident, but have since stop watering and it's been a week now but they are still drooping. I'm not sure if they are dying or would they eventually revive again on their own? The leaves are still green (no signs of brown or yellow). Can I do anything to help them revive? Should I put them in the ground? They are still in their pots. Thank you so much!
Hey Hung, as it's almost October now, it really depends on your climate if you should out them in the ground or not. If it's already cold, they may not survive. In the pots, make sure the soil gets dry quick. Maybe some paper towels can help. You can put them at the bottom and on the surface of the soil so that they absorb moisture
When you buy lavender or any plant look closely. 3 first year cuttings twisted together look like a small Bush. As they grow they constrict each other so they die. The slightly better version is where the plant multiple one year plants in one pot to make it look better, at least then you can separate them.
Hi Anna 👋 I just commented 💖 on another post 📫love 💘your channel thanks for explaining 😊 I transfer my plant 🪴to another pot the roots coming out which I saw this video first 😲😱
@@AnnasViolets never makes it through the winter. I live in zone 4 in western massachusattes. XD can't find a hardy enough cultivar! so then I try to pot it up and bring it inside and instead it droops, "complains" about the lack of sun, and eventually falls prey to some kind of fungus or other. I've tried mulching it outside to get it to survive the winter, lots of straw, covered it in plastic, put it between larger planters for shelter, NOTHING. And I put it in a southeast facing room and it dies! Same with Rosemary!
I bought lavender plants from Home Depot and planted them in my garden the same day. OMG! No wonder they are dying. I should have waited. Thank you for the tip!!!!
False information from you, in fact young lavender plants love humidity and take most of the moisture from their leaves, it’s when there’s humidity AND pot watering that it’s a problem but if the garden centre is only providing humidity on the leaves without watering, that’s perfect for young lavender plants

If you want :) Yes, a little pruning will encourage bushier growth

But then..
@@cheymn81 I hope it will recover soon
I live in hot country. I grow them outside. Trust me, they don't like "direct intense sun" or to get "bone dry" in hot (highs above 95F) dry conditions - regardless of what anyone says.
@@Mojave4ever True, bone dry, especially for a long time, may severely damage them. Only well-established ones can maybe tolerate that hot weather

@@AnnasViolets just planted 400. Worried about root-rot, but after 2 days they were wilting bad. I watered them well, and they perked up?
Thank you Anna for your videos on lavender.
I am currently living in the tropical region, very humid. I notice my lavenders always wilt 2-3weeks after repotting and I have no idea why but when I plant them with cuttings they usually survive longer. Any idea or tips?
Hi LionelCasillas, maybe the issue is with the method of repotting. Lavenders suffer a lot from transplant shock. Maybe you can repot them this way: ruclips.net/video/eY17fTEWJ6k/видео.html

Hi Anna's 👋hi send a message since last week about my lavender 💜plant 🪴update but I cannot find 😔it so am sending another message.. my lavender I put outside still in a pot a repotted in..I do not get alot of sunshine only in the morning..my question is it's been a week now I haven't water it should I put more water💧now it's a bit dry some what damp ..also should I put more soil not sure if soil should covered all the way to the plant..thanks Anna's love ❤ your channel always 😍💐
@@AnnasViolets Sure Anna's am going to wake ⏰😴 super early to catch where the sun 🌞 coming frm .. and see if I can catch more sunlight ✨ oh dear what happened when winter 😳 arrived will it survive indoors Anna's? And when should it get water 💧again 🤔 thanks 😊again for the quick response 👍
@@OMEGACHILD787 In winter, they go dormant. They should stay in a cool area, with the soil just slightly moist from time to time. It will grow in winter, if you grow it indoors and if it's warm inside, but the growth will be leggy, as it will lack a lot of sun
Leaves become thin, why
I assume it's because lack of light. Maybe it sees even some sun. But they need a long period of sunny day, like 6 hours at least
Dang..I repoted my lavander as soon as I bought it and its turning gray I dont know what to do

@@yummycakes4422 That sounds not ideal for lavender :) It will not survive outside in your weather, but also inside, especially next to the heating, it will not feel good. Maybe you have a cooler place - like a basement with a window, where the temperatures are not freezing and there is a window?
Hello! I need help with my lavandula Stoechas, because I'm not sure what I should do. There is some weird mould, but only on the flowers. I would appreciate an advise!) Thank you💜
Hey Viktoriia, it can be fungus.
Thank you! ❤️🇺🇸
Hi!! Plz recommend the potting mix you use 😊 Great video!

@@AnnasViolets Thanks Anna I'll give it a try.

It's really cool! 💜💜💜
Now my question is, are all lavander treat it the same way? As I have an English Lavander. Thank you for this video!
Hi Waldina, there are many varieties of Lavenders, but the care is more or less the same. Some may be more tolerant of colder temperatures, but all of them don't like to be overwatered
My lavender looks good on the outside but the inside looks blackish or woody or grayish.
Maybe you can cut what doesn't look good and trim it a bit.
I treat the plants with neem oil before bringing outside.
mine dried up and died i lost hope but it re grew im hPpy

My lavender is half green or half brown
good video
I repotted mine and it lost all scent to it
How is that possible? 🤔
@@AnnasViolets apparently if the soil is to fertile it’ll lose the ability to produce the oils to have that aroma
@@coreybennett6495 Very interesting. Will look into it. Thanks for sharing
When you buy lavender or any plant look closely.
3 first year cuttings twisted together look like a small Bush. As they grow they constrict each other so they die.
The slightly better version is where the plant multiple one year plants in one pot to make it look better, at least then you can separate them.
Thanks for sharing. 🪴

what if you're putting them in a garden bed?
@@AnimeShinigami13 It depends on the problem you have with the lavender that grows in the garden

False information. Lavander doesn't like humidity. At least most of the varieties.
False information from you, in fact young lavender plants love humidity and take most of the moisture from their leaves, it’s when there’s humidity AND pot watering that it’s a problem but if the garden centre is only providing humidity on the leaves without watering, that’s perfect for young lavender plants
