During my PPL training at Long Beach when I was still learning the Alphabets, I said “Unicorn” for my callsign and the tower and other pilots could not [in a friendly way] stop making jokes about it. Love watching these funny radio videos - mostly to make myself feel better about my embarrassing story
In airliners this doesn't usually happen because a guy is holding down the switch, it is more often because the switch gets stuck in the transmit position.
I hot mic'd in one of my first few lessons when I was experimenting with seat cushions. Button got stuck. Tower heard me talking about how I couldnt see over the dash without my cushion, exposed myself right there n then for being a midget LOL
My fear is less about saying something bad about controllers, but instead other pilots on the frequency. I vent a lot in the cockpit. Usually when it takes them 5 minutes to spit out a simple position call on CTAF or they yammer on forever to a controller when I need to be reporting my 3 mile final. I should probably not say those things out loud :)
The main problem is when you hot mic you step over everyone and can only hear yourself not the controller, which is that buzzing noise while the controller talks.
I mean, honestly…what can they *really* do about this? It wasn’t done maliciously (despite the stiff words) and while clogging a frequency is definitely a safety issue, it was likely the result of a brief malfunction in the switch…at the very least, it could never be proven that it wasn’t the result of a temporary malfunction. You just could never, in good faith, punish pilots because a controller accidentally overheard some shit talking. The pilots could even say “we were talking about someone else”. There’s no way, in a trillion years, they would ever pursue getting the CVR files for an incident as goofy as this…and even if they did, it would be long since overwritten.
@@dgmcfadden2006 I can hear him perfectly fine. It's a relatively small channel, so you can't expect him to drop hundreds on a new mic. Just be grateful he's putting out solid content.
Murphy's law...the worst possible thing you can hot mic, you will hot mic.

Would love the transcription of the phone call 💀

I agree, easy to blame others to protect ego. It’s best to accept we all do stupid shit sometimes- lol
Idk why everyone complains about your mic, I can hear you loud and clear

the guy on atc was just a snowflake.
Getting a phone number doesn't mean you're in trouble 100% of the time. Likely a conversation about the hot key and words said.
Delta sounded stoned to the bone very honestly
I dont get the complaints about the mic? Don't listen on phone speakers maybe?
That is soooooooo unlucky
Your mic is just not working well. FYI
He knows. The channel just doesn’t have enough growth for him to invest in a new mic.
@@JensMowatt with everything on high, you can't hear him so if your going to take the time to make content it should be fixed.

This dude post a lot I’m sure he saving up for a mic 😎
Please get a proper mic, I have my system on 100 and I can only barley hear you
Got a few one today.
@@CFIIMundenit’s honestly not bad at all, got my headphones at like 20% volume and I’ve never had an issue with your videos
I'm listening at 75 % on my phone without ear buds. I can hear him fine.
Can you do a video on common ATC phraseology. I’m a 30hour pilot and fly the plane pretty well, but my comms are lagging.
There are SOOOO many resources out there and ATC videos already. Let this guy do what he wants.
