My wife really likes her '22 Escape SE FWD. We live in a pretty hilly area and the 3 cyl performs well out here; surprisingly well. Her and the kids love the panoramic sunroof. Gets about 35 mpg on the hwy too. You're right Ben. It does kind of remind me of the porche suv.
I work for a rental fleet and while these may seem a little boring we don’t get problems with them just recalls and maintenance.
My car has a 3 cyl , 0.9 L, average 36 around town, and 48 Hwy., leather heated, seats, panoramic sunroof, 24 speaker surround sound, Has a LOT of get up and go, fun to drive. Only $23k brand new. Absolutely love my car!
My Mazda CX-5 was 10K less, gets the same MPG with a tried and true 4-cylinder.
Why were you watching this video? 😂
A 1.5L 3 cylinder turbo for $35,000… a 1.0L 1993 Geo Metro was $6,500
They weren’t any good either.
@@TheopolisQSmith they were a dog to drive, but relatively reliable, it just a rebadged corolla.
@@Bonanzaking no it wasn’t it was a rebadged Suzuki swift
@@andrewharris9302 actually know that i think about it, wrong geo. It was the prizm.
My geo storm was fabulous- made by isuzu😂
I live in Louisville just minutes from Ford's LAP where the escape is assembled. They have hundreds if not thousands sitting at Jefferson Mall. The mall is 5 miles from LAP. Either waiting to be shipped or possibly the recent quality problems. At the airport trucks from KTP are sitting in a lot also. Those don't have a bed on them.
Thanks for the info.
I have a 2020 ford escape se with 195,000 miles drive all over the state for insurance sales. No problems yet new tires service every 5000 miles.
I wouldn't get any new ford right now without a really nice Warrenty.
Whats up with the brakes squealing when backing up?
I love this!!
The 2023 Nissan Rogue only has three cylinders and I think it’s awesome! I haven’t had a chance to drive a 23 Escape yet. As soon as we get one I’ll have more of an opinion!
Granted you are going over a 2022 Escape. 😅
I bought the 2.5 4 cylinder Escape hybrid that has 200 hp and averages 46.8 mpg over 15,000 miles. Paid less than $32,000 for it that has the premium package meaning most options that Titanium has.
Stop lying. Those are going for 40+
@@buddylove6718 Uh, this is a 2020 Escape SE Sport Hybrid with premium package and optional metallic star white paint job. Premium package was $3,700 option and included most of Titanium equipment plus panoramic sunroof. Either offered $3,000 rebate or 0% auto loan. I chose the 0% and paid $34,400 including 7% sales tax and $600 in transfer fees.
This is a dream I had so now Im working what is next😅
Finally , nice trim , where did the birds go?
The sloped rear hatch on new suv s cut into the room and functional ability
Liking my Escape
Had one as a loaner, completely unimpressed
I really want an edge but will probably end up with a 2017 or newer escape.
Make sure you get a 2020 or newer. They didn't redesign the block until mid 2019 for the coolant intrusion. I hear that 3 banger is pretty solid but still too new to say.
No.. we have a 2020 with the revised head. It has has had the turbo replaced at 35k, water pump at 44k & a long block at 47k. Cylinder 2 had coolant washdown destroying it when removed/inspected.
Now at 48k miles, it is losing coolant still.
Fortunately, Ford has backed their warranty without any issues.
$35k is "very" affordable? I'm sorry but this looks like a car that would depreciate like crazy. 1 year old with 18k miles will be going for $18k. This car new should be at around $26k
BUT.....for 2k more, you can own the BRONCO SPORT OUTER BANKS. but, if you don't desire any type of suv, I guess a crossover is the choice.
The problem isn't so much the three cylinder it's the turbo. But assuming these are women cars that never get used under harsh acceleration, maybe they'll last a long time.
I can't understand why the escapes and the broncos sports sell for so much. Ford is attempting to be a lifestyle brand but these aren't quite lifestyle vehicles.
You can still get a few good deals, but a lot of these Escape SE have the convenience pkg or sport pkg adding cost.
Looks like someone threw up a bunch of wires under the hood .
Pass I'll stick with my Lariat Maverick hybrid for the same price
It looks kinda like a Porsche........if you have the sun in your eyes and can't see very well lol. It's a basic ass thing like most of Fords crossover/SUV line, not a bad thing, that's why they sell so many. Just wish they weren't under recall so often. Quality is job one, right?!
Shoot, my 6.2 camero averages 25.
A Rav 4 gets better gas millage than this while being bigger and having more horsepower. Makes no sense.
Agree. I do not want small turbos as daily drivers. I wouldn't mind one in a second "fun weekend car" (if I had the money) but not for this d.
👍
Hi engine does not have cover upper dealer don’t put cover or what ?????😂😂
Take a little motor in a medium sized car. Add a turbocharger and make the engine work really hard. I guess if you don’t plan on more than 100,000 miles out of it it’s ok. Not for me though. I remember little cars with little engines from the 70’s. Not the best plan ever formed.
Ha! The first thing I thought about was it not making it to 75K. 34K for this joke of a car, I don’t think so.
@@Kevin19700 I have Focus in Europe - with same engine and transmission - I've got 70k mls so far and any signs of wear. Any oil consumption - i've cut to half intervals for oil and that's it for special treatment.
Toyotas using a 3 cylinder turbo for their sports cars. Getting 300 HP stock, has been reliably pushed to 500 HP on stock internals. Not trying to be mean, but the 70s were 50 years ago.
@@blarghman332 And your point?
@@TheopolisQSmith the point is that if toyota is happy to use turbos, reliability will be good and shouldn’t be a concern. You gotta get out of the past
This is definitely not the golden age of automobiles.
To answer your question, this engine only makes sense in a Fiesta ST which we sadly don't get. In an Escape it doesnt make sense especially st $35k. One of the worst interiors in a new car on display in this Escape . The cheapest of the cheap plastics everywhere for a price premium. Who buys this? Such a lazy offering
Glad to see the fiesta ST has been mentioned on here haha! I’ve had mine for around 3 1/2 years and the 1.5 engine has given me no problems at all in the meantime. In the Fiesta it gives you a good amount of power and torque but I wouldn’t know what it’s like with the bigger SUV’s. Getting a rental in the states in a couple of months and there’s a part of me that hopes to get something like this just out of curiosity as to how the engine performs in the bigger stuff
Enjoy the repair costs in a couple of years when that Metro engine begins to fall apart.
Got this engine in a Fiesta ST. Had the car for 3 years, car is 4 years old. No problems with the engine whatsoever. I’m a skeptic when it comes to small turbo engines with 3 cylinders but mine hasn’t given me any problems at all. The little 1.0 is just awful though
Interior looks alot worse than a nissan rogue
So dull. Totally uninspired design.
Agreed!
Why did Ford have to ruin the Escape with this boring redesign? The previous version was sharp and not in need of a complete overhaul!
Seems like another overpriced vehicle.
This may be the worst sounding car I have ever heard lmao.
This is the definition of blunt ugly and cheap. The gauge cluster hasn't not been updated since 1999. The thing doesn't even get better gas mileage than my 2.5 liter NA. Combined with the price and fords quality problem no wonder these things aren't selling.
