I can agree with that, that's the only reason I've seen someone give for the length that kinda makes sense. Still do damn long for me and I will not be relistening to this, probably EVER for that reason, but I do kinda see why there's so much on it since it's been awhile since they released.
I love Blu, but this will definitely not be a classic. The beats were weak (especially compared to Below the Heavens) and like Feefo said, there weren't a whole lot of standout songs. No amount of time will turn this into a classic.
@@mistahmst You sure? I see nothing but love being thrown around for this album whenever it has been mentioned and I feel people will throw this up with Below the Heavens as exceptional albums for years to come.
@@nelkam5543 that doesn’t mean it will ever be a classic. A lot of people are just prisoners of the moment, especially with artists that they like, so everything they release is classic to them. I’ve never heard a single song from this album played anywhere and like the guys said in the review, no real standout songs. If the album has no standout songs, it’s automatically not a classic.
@@mistahmst expecting Blu to be played anywhere is a strange way of digesting Blu lol he's very underground even years being in the game it sounds like you just didn't like the album and thus using any argument to discredit it
This album is a masterpiece and must be digested in a sitting with your full attention. Blu & Exile are one of the best rapper/producer duo period, don’t sleep and listen to this.
Senior year 2011, first acid trip and first time hearing Exile's Radio. Changed my life. Introduced me to Alan Watts. Gonna play this album at work today.
One thing I love is how all of the themes of Miles (family, personal life, afro-centrism, and black music) are all intertwined. Like when Blu rapped about the history of man, then the history of African Americans, and talked about Miles Davis in another track, and in another talked about the history of his family leading up to his son Miles. He even talked about the history of the evils of man on his last verse. He talked about different things but it all connected naturally without any forced narrative. I recommend yall listen to Choosey and Exile's album Black Beans (cause Choosey's afro-latino, get it? lol), that one is very very good as well
With that many damn songs I would too. Doesn't mean that there aren't any. The albums far too long, FAR too long. This is why I don't listen to shit like all eyes on me or something. I don't have the damn time.
@@eminemfan50098 ok well just say you have a short attention span and move on. Some people love listening to a long album. My point was, if you're gonna say there are misses, and then not remember what they are, its a lil disingenuous.

Great review guys! Ive been a Blu fan since college (2003), I've always thought Blu is top tier. Blu is versatile, he can do it all. I was anticipating this album, it delivered on all expectations and more. After the first listen it fully clicked. The length was not an issue especially for a double album. If I had to rate each half I thought the first ten songs were a 4.5, and the second half a 4. The production is bonkers, Exile delivered! What Blu and Exile accomplished is really magical for a duo. MILES is up there with Shrines, Innocent Country and Purple Moonlight, shit it might be better lol!
@@eminemfan50098 Wow, you really missing something special. It's a double album so technically you can listen to either half. Hang in there, it might grow on you..
Thanks for the review. Nice album. African dream is actually one of my favorite track on there. Maybe because I’m African leaving in Africa I could relate to it more. Loved the placement of it. Anyway. Nice album, nice review
How did we get to a point where our attention span is as good as a goldfish's and 1h35 of really good music makes listening to it feel like a chore? I can understand when the music is trash but when it's this good, how is that even a flaw? lmao
righhhht. That tells you a little about what kind of perspective the review has shaping their ear. In my opinion have a reason why the length was problematic, other than the time it took to play through

I mean, if the album is great, more songs aren't really an issue, right? Cause I think this was a double album as well but Spotify doesn't really distinguish double albums from a regular album
Just for clarity in case anyone isn't familiar with the catalog or this album, the album Feefo is talking about Red Hot... is a Blu & Oh No album, that's why it's a different vibe. Also when Kinge is talking about the unrealistic track, they mean Dear Lord not American Dream
Y’all never mentioned Bright As Stars!!! That song to me sounds like it could win a Grammy as a stand alone single. The whole album is good; it is a little longer, but great if you have something to do for an hour and 30 minutes.
“Before the Heavens, Below The Heavens, Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them, MILES” it’s a theme. You got to listen to them all to have a better understanding of the duo. Album cover on Below was his head in the clouds. MILES he literally is standing on a African Leadwood Tree with the roots exposed. (That tree is so dense, it can sink in water and survive🤔.)
even though this had a double LP playlenght, I thoroughly enjoyed it!! Same goes for this review. Without DEHH I would‘nt be as deep into Hip Hop as I am right now. Ah, and I‘m really hoping for a Mach‘s Hard Lemonade review, since it‘s at least available on Tidal (as of right now)

I'm somebody who is hyper cognizant about the length of albums especially ones that go beyond an hour, but this album didn't feel like an hour and a half to me at all. I listened to the album beginning to end no skips and the length didn't once come up in my mind and that's why this album was so special. Blu has one of the most consistent discographies I know and this was no exception. This makes AOTY for me and although RTJ4 will be a close second, Miles hits on another spiritual level.
