I bought a 22’ M550 fully loaded last year and it got delivered in August due to the chip shortage, same spec you got to test drive. Except I have brown interior and black rims. Had it 6 months and I just got use to the power, it is a monster. I am from DMV as well 👍
I got the 2022 M550 and got about 9k miles with no issues so far. This car beats 98% of cars on the road, unless you are next next a 911 Carrara S. I had the resonators deleted sounds really wicked.

Probably could have done a little bit better with warmed up tires and less gas in the tank, but it would still be in the similar time range. I don't care much about the actual numbers in this car. It's how much torque in effortless power you get is what truly makes you smile! The isolation and aerodynamics hide how fast this car is.
Love the preview. The fact that this ludicrously fast car isn't even the M5 is mindboggling. I would loose my license really fast driving an m550i or m5. Heck even a 540i is quick enough.
The 0-60 in normal pedal to the metal doesn't actually differ that much between the 540i and the M550i - which is surprising. Both are very fast. The M550i does have an excellent powertrain, but it will definitely cost more at the pump too.
@@kennywilson3270 I drove the first gen m550i i think it was a 2018. It was nice. I felt like it drove a bit like a boat. 450hp was plenty fast and I am surprised the latest v8 models have 520 hp. Im sure those are baby m5's for sure.
Thank you for the positive feedback! Yeah, I totally feel that. Triple digits come so fast in these powerful BMW's, and you can't even feel the speed. Really easy to get in trouble if you don't have strong self-discipline.
I have one and and didn't know it was so scary fast when I bought it (wanted a 540 but dealer didn't have any). Car can be very dangerous if not careful. You can easily get into trouble because you want to step on it and tightens your stomach muscles. I have had very many cars of all types and this is by far the best in all areas. Superb brakes also give you confidence. Great sound system..

I have a pre LCI version of this car - 2019. Updated engine (530hp) and updated iDrive. There is a lag. Its always there. I can feel whow boost comes hen I press accelerator lightly. If I keep my foot on the pedal the response then is immediate. But if I roll with no gas and press it - there will be lag always. And you will notice it. Always. Not that bad but… if u had a supercharged or naturally aspirated car - you definitely will notice it.
They are pretty close in real life, and will ultimately depend on the driver and reaction time. By the numbers, I was able to do better on the M550i, but in terms of actual driving, passing, off idle acceleration, the M340i does just as well. The M340i is more sporty and responsive too.
These cars last for 2-3 year , then you start spending half of your paycheck for repair and maintenance . Buy Toyota or Honda to get from A to B … without orgasming though every time you press pedals
That is so untrue. I owned a 2005 BMW X5 4.4i. Had 224K when I sold her. No issues! I have friends who own these cars but in the 550i body style, and have no issues. So that is false information.

Nice! You'd need a Carerra Turbo at this point to try to take the win. The 4S and GTS aren't faster than an M550i :)

I would suggest starting out with a 330i or 430i GC. Go new by all means, if you can.
