LG QNED 83 TV Review - Best LED LCD TV for cinema and gaming?

- LG recently introduced its 2024 QNED TV series in India, and we have the 55-inch QNED 83 Smart TV with us which is a successor to the LG QNED 81. This edge-lit QNED display features several exciting features including a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision HDR, and the latest WebOS 23 software.
LG claims that its QNED range brings in a new era of LED LCD TVs. But what is QNED TV? How is it different from QLED LCD TVs? And more importantly, is this TV worth your consideration? We will address these questions and more in our LG QNED 83 review.

LG QNED picture quality is better than SONY X82L because QNED technology is better in LG than SONY Direct LED in X82L....
While that is theoretically true. Sony is also very expert in calibrating its TVs. So this one will be close.

If you want sound go for sony, if you want picture performance then go for lg
I'm open to purchase upto 1L. Please recommend which one to buy. I only watch you tube, Netflix, Amazon. Confused with oled vs qled, qned. Also confused with brands Sony, LG. Xr processing and alpha 7 AI processing. I prefer branded devices only.
LG TVs are well-calibrated for enthusiasts and gaming. Sony TVs are generally very well-calibrated for the masses and are also slightly overpriced in India. LG OLEDs are always better for a cinematic experience, but if you need to install and watch your TV in a bright room with lot of ambient light, QLEDs should be better. You can also consider last-generation Samsung Mini LED options in that case.
If I have to buy a TV under 75k from either LG, Samsung, Sony, do you think this LG Qned is worth buying or should I go for any other model which you've reviewed also? Kindly share the better model name, if any.
This is not under 75K as of now, but yes it is worth buying. On paper, Sony X82L and Samsung QN85B are some solid competitors but we haven't reviewed them. Sony will also soon update its mid-range lineup, but new options are expected to be slightly pricier.
I am in the market looking for a 55 inch tv.
Shortlisted LGQNED83 and Sony 82L. Getting them for 75 K and 70 K respectively.
Any suggestions ? I don't plan to game on this tv so how useful is 120hz.

Comparing them side by side LG looks sharper, more detailed and brighter, but I don't like it's OS and remote.
That's really good price for these TVs. 120Hz is only useful for gaming. We haven't reviewed the X82L so its hard to comment. If you have access to both TVs play dark HDR content on both (preferrably not under direct showroom lighting).
which is the best mode in this tv to watch visual wonder movies like Avatar? Vivid or Cinema or Film maker mode?
If you are a purist then Filmmaker mode. Cinema mode is similar with some light enhancements like slight motion smoothing. It might feel a tad yellowish at the start, but once you are accustomed to D65 white you will be able to appreciate it better.
Can LG and Samsung TVs play HDR/Dolby vision .mkv files from external usb HDD? With dolby atmos and dtsx?

Hi Ankit, we haven't reviewed the X82L so it's hard to say which one is better.

Go for sony if you want more natural colour reproduction else with LG if you need a brighter panel. I was in the same spot and ended by buying sony since with LG the colour sense seemed off at times but that again is upto the individual
@@ankit-gupta contact lg and sony service center whether they consider screen bleeding as a major problem and they are eager to repair if it is found later... service center these days never consider to service if little bit screen bleeding found when tv is black dimming test. they say its wont affect your viewing experience so not needed to service..
LG QNED83 VS Sony Bravia 3??
Sir am confuse between QNED81 and QNED83 what's the major difference between these tv's and which one has full array panel
Hi, we have not reviewed the QNED81, but based on the specifications, it doesn't seem to support Dolby Vision. LG mentions "Active HDR" on its website, but it doesn't specify which HDR formats are supported. None of these TVs have a full array backlight. If you plan on viewing in a dark room, edge LEDs will be noticeable in the letterbox bars.

How many dimming zones ? Better than Samsung qn85b? Black picture didn’t look so good ,could see glow around the characters
yes, blooming is visible in dark HDR scenes (not as much in SDR) when viewed in a dark room. Didn't count the dimming zones, but don't expect much of edge-lit local dimming.
My budget is 1.4 lakh, and too confused between which one to buy. Please give solution
