Great video. I didn’t know you could combine Slate and Waves plug ins. Gonna do it soon😮

You should try, the TR5 One.... instead of the bomber and the wave plug in because basically what you're trying to do to turn that into a pre-master, is ring your mix up..... and after you bring your mix up you still should go back in and master that for clarity... and thickness and Sheen.... then on that wave file you bring in the Slate virtual mix rack with whatever saturation plug-in you want to do and regain stage and now you'll have a master sounding song that's Radio Ready

Great videos!! Which SSL EQs do you prefer out of the Slate FG-S and the CLA MixHub one?

Thanks man! I actually prefer the CLA MixHub over the Slate FG-S.

I use the slate plugins live on drums. But the VTM live creates a lag on my drums. Only to be used at the mixing stage right? Thanks

You can use any plugin for live or tracking purposes as long as they don't cause a lag. You probably won't get much benefit using the VTM live though. As in, most listeners won't be able to hear a difference.

@@AudioSorcerer yeah I don’t think it’s a cpu thing cause my computer is strong and not maxed out on the cpu performance meter and all other plugins are fine. I think it’s just something about the vtm plugin.

I recently switched from slate based mixing to izotope based mixing. Unrelated to opinions on the internet, i just found the izotope suite of plugins to sound better and function more quickly/intuitively. How do you feel about this comparison?

I really love the Izotope plugins also. I have several tutorials on them here on my channel. I use them for specific tasks but overall I find the slate plugins recreate a more natural analog sound. I'll use Ozone to master, Tonal Balance to check my frequency spectrum, and Neutron if I can't get a sound where I want it. Overall, they both make great plugins.

@@AudioSorcerer Awesome, thanks for the reply and insight to how you use some of your tools. Ozone 9 advanced is by far one of my favorite tools. When nectar 3 is bundled with melodyne essentials it also makes it a no brainer for vocals 😊

Yeah....TR5 One.... would have done a way better job..... you may want to cut some high mid on that mix as well too, and then maybe bring up 40K on the low end to get a little more punch on that kit drum, slightly.... more compression

Slate... in my experience works better on a master to really polish up a good mix before it's ran through whatever analog year you have

Just trying to help you bro it's a good song but it could be great if you take up a little more time with it
