Oh wow this is my exact weapon set up and except I use the big boom grenade for those inevitable "oh shit-uations". Perma staggering ragers is so satisfying too.

Oh-shit-uations. Damn, I’m gonna add that to my vocabulary, thank you.

Tried it out, worked very well. I was missing the kind of Vermintide's tough frontliner that could also deal a bunch of melee damage in Darktide and this is exactly what I needed. Great presentation as well!

    Jay, thanx for sharing!
    Awesome new video style background.
    Keep it up!)
Shield without Bleed is weak indeed.
I use alike. This setup is quite self sufficient.

This build feels just as great as the solo-it build. Awesome work, thanks!

Love the build! Still pretty new to the game but it seems like the stab + batter + heavy hitter seems to be pretty popular Ogryn build. From what I can tell your version of the build is the best. There are some things I don't understand though.
You seem to prioritize toughness damage reduction when you can, even giving up flat bonus toughness. Is this because without full toughness curios the benefit from the +20% toughness damage reduction outweighs the + 30 flat toughness?
In the curios section you say, "I use 1 max health and 2 toughness. Its not worth going bellow 2 toughness, if anything, go for 3 max health.". I'm not sure I understand your second sentence because it sounds contradictory. My general understanding is that on builds with great toughness generation (like this one) you always prioritize toughness curios so "its not worth going below 2 toughness" makes sense. But, under what circumstance would one want to opt into 3 max health curios?
Why Gunner Resistance and Corruption Resistance over Stamina Regen and Toughness Regen?
You also seem to like Bombs Away! over Big Friendly Rock as you also picked it in your "Let Me Solo It//Face Tank" Build. After watching chocoB's Ogryn True Solo game play videos, I have come to rely on Big Friendly Rock to take out gunners, snipers and mutants so I am hesitant to switch over to Bombs Away!. I also assume you took the MK V Kickback to cover for the ranged weakness but then giving up the MK VI Rumbler makes groups of Bulwarks hard to deal with. I can see that going Bombs Away! allows you to take Soften Them Up witch is an amazing passive +15% damage boost for your whole team against bosses. I really want to take Bombs Away! for Soften Them Up but I am not sure I will be able to deal with bulwarks using Bombs Away! the same way I can with the Rumbler. How did you solve this in your game play strategy?
Is the toughness replenished from Unstoppable overkill? Making it unnecessary?
Anyways, thanks for the awesome guides! I'm learning a lot from them.
If you have the time and the interest may I request a build featuring the Brute-Brainer Mk XIX Latrine Shovel?

@scovi2172 Hi mate, I'd gladly explain why I chose certain things.
-It has proven beneficial for me that with 2 toughness and 1 max HP curios, that the survival chances are better. Because occasionally, damage comes through, such as from bombers, flames, bosses or other types. With 2 toughness curios and 1 max HP, I am well secured against most melee hits and gunfire. The 1 max HP serves the purpose that if something does get through, I don't end up standing there with extremely low health. As you've seen in the build, I haven't invested much in toughness since the points were allocated to damage
-The toughness damage reduction is why you can easily absorb gunner shots and some melee attacks without losing HP. For example, when facing a wave or just 1-3 enemies where you use charged attacks, you quickly gain Toughness through "The Best Defense" or "Smash'Em!", allowing you to even ignore the gunners. Furthermore, you can taunt most ranged enemies like Shotgunners, Shooters, Stalkers and Captains into melee range using the talent "Attention Seeker.
-I mentioned the thing about curios because some mates prefer playing with 3 Max Health and before they invest in just 1 toughness curio, which is not worthwhile at all, I wanted to mention it again. Personally, I find 2 toughness curios completely sufficient, as it allows you to withstand enough shots and hits with toughness.
-Gunner and Corruption are some of the weaknesses of the build, that's why you prioritize them in curios for better survival chances. You'll notice that with 3 Gunner Resistance, you can easily ignore 1-2 gunners, as they do minimal toughness damage. As for Stamina and Toughness, both are unnecessary since you get enough Toughness from your heavy attacks and abilitie and you're not dependent on the coherence radius. Blocking is rarely used when working with dash + stagger from the heavy attack.
-Gunners, snipers, mutants, and Bulwarks are all no problem with a shield, which is why I preferentially specced into "Soften Them Up."
Mutants: 2-3 Heavy Attacks and he's dead. Before he reaches to you, just dash left or right or use the ability. Also if you shoot him with Kickback (aim), use 1-2 Heavy attacks and he should die.
Gunners: If gunners are too far, use abilities or shoot them once with Kickback to have enough time to get to them. But if your Toughness is low, along with low HP and there are no enemies between you and the gunner, don't use your ability. Since you won't gain Toughness before reaching them with your ability and the gunners won't stop shooting at you, you would go down.
Snipers: 2 shots with Kickback (aiming) and he's already dead. You can easily block 1-2 snipers with a shield, so you can approach them that way too.
Bulwark: You have few options to break their shield. If there are many + a horde, use Bombs Away! (grenade) with and/or ability. If there are only many Bulwarks, use the ability and then attack them with Heavy Attacks. If there are only 1-2, wait for their side attack where they open their block and then dash to the side where their melee weapon is and attack with a heavy attack on the head. You can easily absorb a standard Bulwark attack without losing HP with full Toughness, allowing you to use it to counterattack a Bulwark without using Dash.
Btw there's a lot of text, I believe it might be easier if I upload some gameplay to show how I handle specific situations. Regarding the shovel, I still need to check. I have two other builds, but I'm holding off on them as I think Darktide will likely come with a new patch soon, where some stats may have changed again.

@@jay-brodi7953 Thankyou for the wonderful writeup!
The curios make a lot of sense now. Only using heavy attacks with the toughness regenerated through "The Best Defense" and "Smash'Em" for hoard clear completely frees up the slots stamina and toughness regen would take. I will try out gunner and corruption resistance but as I play I may swap them out for other resistances if I find I struggle with other enemies more.
I will practice taking out mutants quickly with heavy attacks because I see that "Big Friendly Rock" has become a crutch for me.
Since posting my original comment I have been trying out Mk V Kickback and its ability to stagger gunners at range has been very helpful in closing the distance especially when my toughness is low. It cleans up snippers at medium range but I still struggle with them at far or super far, especially when their cover is really good. I think this is a skill issue though so you can consider me a kickback believer now.
For bulwarks, I hadn't even considered using my agility to force a stagger. This is an absolute game changer. The combination of the "Bombs Away!" for damage and horde clear + the forced stagger from the ability will make bulwark rushes so much easier to deal with.
Any gameplay you decide to upload would be awesome as I will get to learn from your decision making. I look forward to more of your creative builds after the patch!

do mods have any impact on playing online? where can I get those mods? just through Nexus?@@jay-brodi7953

    • @jay-brodi7953
      @jay-brodi7953  9 месяцев назад +1

@Shepy3339 There are some mods that have an impact on online gaming and others that are specifically designed for self-hosted games to try out different things. You can find these mods on Nexus and there are really good and concise videos on RUclips that demonstrate how to install mods easily and quickly. Just as a side note, some mods may cause crashes if they haven't been updated, but the mods I mentioned should all work smoothly. For health bars, you'll need to adjust the settings in the mods to enable the display of health bars for all enemies.
