Ahahah i had to go and search for this comment after his last video where he makes some confusing remarks about a striking guy who doesn't know bjj in rewgards to this comment. Did he think this was an insult rather than a compliment? :D
I think BJJscouts point was that the comment sections of his more regular, 'hardcore' pieces are much more sane than the McG study and was actually using this as an example of how popular MMA technique writers value his work. I took the ''hater rebuttal" caption as just scout trying to get ahead of the predicted response that screencap would provoke. Not gonna lie though, I came here just to check if there was some slack/scout beef too.
I doubt there's any beef, i've always heard Slack talk great about BJJScout, but it just seemed like Scout had somehow misinterpreted the comment. But your reading might make more sense. Besides, doesn't Slack practice BJJ too? I kind of remember he mentioning it at some point.
10q jack! (And for those that are looking for this comment after the Conor video). I'm talking in the "internet hater's" voice...not my own, duh. Slack is a god amongst us Ais, => #jack chat on slack is my shrine for him btw, join here hashtagjack.herokuapp.com/
First off... I am not comparing my self to him on any level. The style he is doing is something I have been playing with, my instructor told me to find this guy and study him to improve my game. This video is a fantastic breakdown.
any ass thinking of down voting this gem of a video in a long line of gems from bjjscout is a genuine ass. Thanks bjjscout for yet another great video.
Very nice breakdown of (half-)butterfly with the gi! In nogi grappling butterfly seems to be way more popular these days. Especially the Renzo/Danaher guys are using it as their main guard, as it is super powerful for setting up leglocks, while keeping your own legs/ankles protected. I was fortunate enough to roll with Oliver Taza a few days ago and once he got half-butterfly on me, it was curtains! Would love for you to keep expanding this study into the nogi realm and the DDS particularly. Your work is super valuable, thanks so much for sharing!
So many bjj videos to drill technique but so few offering real world analysis. Your efforts are brilliant and appreciated. Everyday I look forward to a new BJJScout drop. Thank you
I don't understand why the UFC had you pull your content. You're one of the few content creators that can actually educate and improve people's understanding of MMA and grappling in general. If anything they should have put you on the payroll - short-sighted of them to mess with your work. Keep it up!!
I have been using this guard since i started jiu jitsu, my coach told me this guard (butterfly) is for you and 6 years later as a purple belt i can sweep mostly anyone with the butterfly guard. Thank you for sharing this! Ps the reason my coach told me that this guard would be perfect for me was for the reason that im missing my left arm, it took a lot of trial and error but this guard has worked wonders on my jiu jitsu.
Daniel Beleza made the closed guard cool for a bit. 39 years old, placed silver at adult Worlds, using closed guard in nearly all his matches. Amazing This was an awesome video. Can't wait for part 2
I began working combo "butterfly/JohnWayne sweep" 2 months ago with my students. It's amazing How it work well!! Thx u so much! Great job! Welcome in Adam World !
Great as always! I find it interesting that alot of Marcelo Garcia's early instruction focuses on the grapevine insertion from the outside. Whereas, Wardzinski is inserting with the opposite leg, from the inside of the leg. Great stuff!
Awesome! I've been looking for something like this! So much time spent learning butterfly only to have it shutdown by modern passing styles. I used the grapevine modification this morning and got a bunch of sweeps - so keen for part two.
Beautiful breakdown, I think one of the biggest innovations in grappling is going to be the upper foot locking you into positions. What needs to be explored more is using it from the top
First video I've watched of BJJ Scout's. Great breakdowns throughout, great job highlighting subtle areas/key points and using clear footage and great capture of his highlights. Looking forward to more quality content! *subscribes*
I notice from his 2017 Worlds matches that he uses RDLR with one leg and shin to shin with the other leg to get the opponent's knee to the ground. Then the RDLR becomes the grapevine and staples their leg to the ground. Then the butterfly hook comes in. Very cool.
Excellent work once again!!! Can't wait for part two. I've been doing this same thing for a long time without even thinking about it. Now I understand better what I'm doing and it's like an instant level up. :D Could we see a video of Maia's style leg weave smash passing and this grapevine/John Wayne/butterfly game? Seems like those kinda counter eachother at times.
amazing break down...like all of your videos. Since you are on a old school analysis, could you do a shoalin sweep break down. I have always loved that sweep but have a hard time setting it up.

That's beautiful !!!!! Even though he did that shit on me like 6x 😂😂😂😂

Hahaha

So bloody good.

I'd like to say I watched this video so many times cause I'm trying to learn the move, but really, the soundtrack kicks some serious ass.
Where did this music mix come from?!!!! Amazing. Good sweep breakdown too ;)
Grapevining... Mind Blown!
As a butterfly guard player this video has given me much to think about, can't wait for Part 2!
So many bjj videos to drill technique but so few offering real world analysis. Your efforts are brilliant and appreciated. Everyday I look forward to a new BJJScout drop. Thank you
Can't wait for Part II !!!
Excellent breakdown of one of my favorite grapplers, thanks for the awesome content

BJJ Scout has been my primary source of learning jits for the last 7years, seriously. Been grappling for 14years now.
I've watched this video at least 20 times. The music fits perfectly. Best bjj Scout video so far.
Awesome! I've been looking for something like this! So much time spent learning butterfly only to have it shutdown by modern passing styles. I used the grapevine modification this morning and got a bunch of sweeps - so keen for part two.
Still going back to this video. Excellent, and dope music.
As someone who loves butterfly guard, this is amazing! Thank you for your work. It's greatly appriciated!!!

You are a legend, i watch at least one your breakdowns everyday, specially before training. Amazing work

Waiting for part 2, I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas. Awesome work.
Dam you have the best breakdown BJJ vids! Plz keep em coming! I'm using all this next time I train
Got to train with this monster for a month this year. The man has the most effortless sweeps it almost feels as if you’ve agreed to just fall over.
duuuude! this has changed my world! part 2 please!

Amazing break down. My most used position and this has helped me improve it ten fold. Thank you!
5:00 is perhaps the most critical addition to my no gi game against low pressure passers.
Wtf. This is some of the best content I've ever seen on youtube. Thank you
Great VIDEO! looking forward for the 2nd part!
so pumped of part 2!!!
Such a great digging job you made, dude. You're a jiu-jitsu schollar guy! Congratulations!
Pozdrowienia dla Adama, dobra robota! :)

Never, ever got any sweeps from butterfly until I watched this. Now I am starting to get some.
Awesome video, looking forward to Part 2
I've been hitting Butterfly sweeps every roll since I watched this. Even against Brown Belts. Need part 2 ASAP.
Awesome study as always
Check out Jay Zeballos (a Jean Jacques black belt) doing this sequence in competition.
amazing break down...like all of your videos. Since you are on a old school analysis, could you do a shoalin sweep break down. I have always loved that sweep but have a hard time setting it up.
