We know that you delight in ordering citizens around, but some of us will reject your perceived authority. & it's very apparent how lost you look when you are challenged, with your panicked phone calls & reading laws off your phone. Notice how cops think they can tell folks what the law is, but they clearly don't know.

      10.1 of the Heathrow byelaws 2014 unfortunately requires people to provide their name, address and purpose for being on the airport, if requested by a constable or airport official. Failure to do so would be a breach of the byelaw. It’s the same at a lot of airports. These byelaws remove our freedom to remain silent, which is extremely worrying.

    • @justinformed7367
      @justinformed7367 18 дней назад +2

      @@drp9542 Thanks for that, I also find it worrisome. I do wonder how a bylaw ranks above other laws, particularly human rights laws. We do keep seeing UK laws being overridden by EU laws. I always thought that the right to silence was absolute. Cheers.

    • @drp9542
      @drp9542 18 дней назад +3

      @ There’s no hierarchy as such, as byelaws are just like any other criminal offence, but it certainly does feel like some go against our basic human rights, which could make them unlawful. The problem is it’s incredibly hard to fight the system as an individual. There seems to be a growing number of laws that require people to give up their right to silence. The Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 gives local authorities the power to introduce Public Space Protection Orders, which aren’t byelaws, but take away people’s freedom in the same way. One in Lincolnshire that sticks in my mind is the requirement for a dog owner to produce the means to pick up after their dog, if asked by an “Authorised Officer”. This is a great example of how people are being classed and guilty until proven innocent, and the right to silence has been taken away.

      @drp9542 bylaws by their very nature are dishonest, often badly thought out, left in place for no good reason, and biased as hell. Personally, bylaws should not be enforceable unless posted locally as knowing them all is dam near impossible and should not override "nation wide laws" certainly not at criminal level.

    • @drp9542
      @drp9542 18 дней назад +2

      @@robba1234 I agree. Sadly new byelaws are still being created. The Manchester airport byelaws were updated last summer, and have gone from just a few, to pages and pages of things people aren’t allowed to do. There’s no way people can be expected to know which byelaws apply where. If the constables that work at the airport enforcing byelaws have to look them up, then how on earth are the public supposed to be familiar with them.

      @Phookinell 18 дней назад

      @ Well… I dunno, trespass on railway property isn’t a “civil” offence, it’s a crime. I’m not familiar with the legislation and bylaws regarding airports and specifically Heathrow, but I wouldn’t be surprised.
      Even if it’s ‘civil’, the airport police may have the required authority to remove trespassers just like they do on police property.

    • @drp9542
      @drp9542 18 дней назад

      @@Phookinell Ahh yes that’s true, trespass on the railway is a criminal offence. The Heathrow airport byelaws also make it a criminal offence to fail to leave when asked, but the person needs to have caused a disturbance. In most other places, the landowner or their representative can ask anyone to leave, they don’t need a reason, however, refusing to leave would be a civil matter, not criminal, but of course reasonable force could be used to remove a trespasser.
