Does every film printer automatically create a halftone? I just got a job at a local shirt design studio and some of them had said that we can't do gradients, but I don't get why.

No. Typically you need a RIP software to turn your gradients into halftones. It's a special driver.

I came here to se'e how to apply halftones to gradients before printing. And I didn't saw any of that.
