I was once an employee of one of the sub contractors of Cemicor...so much memories of this Mabuhay and superferry vessels...and it remains a part of my endeavor today as a Ship Repair Contractor...
When i was 8 years old, that time , this ship was the gem of the philippine sea. we sailed from cagayan de oro to manila and the experience was breathtaking.
Lots of memories of this vessel way back 1996 during the Loboc Children's Choir days. The only time we experience to have a tour on her bridge when the captain invited and let us performed at the bridge. Such a great experience. SUPER FERRY 8.
if i can find my notebook back when i was in Grade 2, almost every page of it is drawing of ships. MABUHAY 2 MABUHAY 3 SUPER FERRY 2 SUPER FERRY 5 and of course my favorite PRINCESS OF THE ORIENT.
I was still little back then. Never got to ride her as the Superferry 19, but it was on the SF8 that I got to experience my first suite room. Back then I thought the room had chocolates because I misunderstood suite for sweet. Lol good times. I also wondered why the pillow cases in the cabin rooms had "mabuhay 3" printed on them. Upon arriving in Iloilo, when the jeepney was leaving the port, I can see her beautiful bow and slanted forward deck. She was a sight to behold as she was quite long compared to the SF1 which we would sometimes sail in during summers of the late 90's. She was quite special and I have very vivid memories of her.
Very informative video with such interesting facts. Thank you. I never had a chance to board this beauty but I had seen her docked in Cebu Port on many occasions as my late father worked with Gothong Shipping Lines.
I was on board this ship in 1991 Manila to Cebu when she was still M/V Sugbu. Didn't have the chance to tour her because the sea was so choppy at that time and I spent most of the voyage sleeping in tourist class. I ate once the whole trip, vomited 3 times, and disembarked while still groggy, LOL! It was a bad experience.
I used to ride MV Maynilad going to General Santos. This passenger ship has the most sumptuous dishes served compared to Princess of the Orient which latter capsize.. thanks God l already embarked the ill-fated ship in General Santos before she met her watery grave. I have a lot of pictures of that ship "Princess of the Orient" it has this grand staircase going up to the second floor like Titanic.. It was MV Tacloban that started my ship experiences crossing Matnog going to Samar, then followed by Doña Paz, Princess of the Orient, Super Ferry series (Sharon's favorite ship) and finally MV Maynilad from 1993-1997.
I still have my ship boarding ticket with me bearing the name Mabuhay 3. Pictures in the upper deck at night time and in the disco area. Their staircase was wide and not steeped. And of course the food served is the most sumptuous dishes I've ever eaten.. Mama Mia sarap ng food.. and lastly the crew was so friendly and very courteous.. and clean ship and very safe.
I used to sail this ship during 1990 I love this ship because it's part of my life being a seafarer together with 2e Efren malubay..and c/e susimo redoble it's sad because it serve to other country ...and not our own ....hope she continue to sail....mabuhay ka ....mv sugbu
Hope you also cover the Sulpicio Lines ship Don Eusebio, a japanese built Roro ship way back in 1980's,which operate the route from Manila - Iloilo- Zamboanga...keep safe!
I remember that vessel when I was boarded an interisland cargo vessel for almost 14 years,, when i was navigating we meet that vessel in the widest sea with a very white Bow cutting the sea due to fastest speed and at every port we meet Wer only tugboat of him hehe due to his highest and widest structure. nakaka mis din yung mga barko na wala nag biyahi ngaun.
This was my first cebu to manila ride when i was 12 years old and it was still m/v sugbo.. and cant sleep due to excitement, always roaming around, playing on rooftop. And trying to make friends especially girls. 🤣🤣
Superferry 19 once plied the Manila-Bacolod-Cagayan de Oro vv route. Manila-Bacolod-Surigao-Nasipit-Surigao-Bacolod-Manila (first in history) And Manila-Bacolod-Zamboanga-Cotabao-Zamboanga-Bacolod-Manila and as Superferry 8 and with Superferry 1 she is also one of the Pioneering ferries of WG&A who also face to challenge the great Negros Navigation in the Bacolod route.
super ferry 19 ito yung sinakyan namin ng mga kakaclase ko from cebu to manila july 2007. naalala ko pa ung design ng tourist class nila pahaba. at dto ko huling nilaro ang counter stricke hehehehe...
I was aboard superferry 14 as we were approaching the port of iloilo superferry 8 was on its way out..I think It was in a bad shape at the time..in fact it was listing but it was fast..I miss those days ships, were much larger and the voyages were long..I was a frequent traveller on the zamboanga to manila route..my fierce ship experience was aboard m/v sweet bliss of the now defunct sweet lines of cebu city..I was 8 years old then..It's only just recently when I learned that sweet bliss used to be a warship,a submarine chaser and was converted as a passenger ferry after being decomissioned..
My wife and I boarded the MV Sugbu from Cebu to Manila in May 1991 for our wedding in Batangas. We both enjoyed the trip even as we also admired the food served to the passengers. We boarded the same ship when we travelled back to Cebu. Such a sentimentlal memory with this amazing ship. Thank you MV Sugbu!
I was a training steward for 2 weeks in this ship super ferry 8 way back august 1998 muntik na kaming lumubog same place san lumubog ang princess of the orient sa fortune island.
