NN or Negros Navigation is one of the biggest and most favorites passengers shipping lines the intire philippines! Thank NN for your good services to all passengers in past! Thankz again for 2GO shipping!
ive always see this ship during my younger years. St. Francis of Assisi of NN, Superferry 9, and Doña Virginia. All of them made my small bangka jump a bit everytime they pass through doing Dumaguete-Manila route. Doña Virginia and St.Francis speed always amazed me and the other folks everytime they passd by, we always argue whos the fastest 😁 ofcourse the older folks always win😂. thanks for the video PSSS
Nkakalungkot isipin,, nakita ko naman yong unang inangkat ko na barko na pinagtratrabahuan ko dati yong bago palang ako nag guard.... napamahal na yan sa akin..❤❤
Oh hey PSSS, yep I've seen this vessel in person twice or thrice I think. I've visited Manila back then in late 90's when ship's where more common cheap transports between Luzon and parts of Visayas & Mindanao. And sometimes she's tied up alongside when I ride in and out of Manila North Harbour Pier #2. I recall this particular time when we departed from North Harbour pier #2 (the main hub of NN back then). I can't exactly recall the vessel we rode in to the Visayas back then from Pier 2. M.V. St Francis was departing that day too for Iloilo City and our ship departed at about 2PM I think. But around 2 hours later somewhere along Corridor Island area while we are plodding along at about 14-15 knots the MV St Francis appeared from behind sailing majestically. I asked a crew how much she was doing and got an reply that she's probably sailing at about 20 knots. After about 20mins or so she was alongside us and soon disappeared from the horizon leaving us behind. I also spoke to a relative who rode her and he said that indeed that ship IS fast. Doing the Manila to Iloilo City/Bacolod City route in around 18 hours or so whereas other ship's on that route does over 20 hours. Now my long question has been answered, I was wondering all these years what happened to her. A pity end to one of such majestic ship to have sailed the domestic route. I think till now no other ship has been as majestic as her sailing the Philippine waters, but of course my views on majestic ships can be.....a wee bit subjective. 😂😂 Anyway great content PSSS 👍🏼👍🏼!
my memory was from M/S Don Juan from Negros Navigation.. I was only 7 years old back then.. and it is fresh in my mind.. I was with my father, and it was on our way to Manila
Nasakyan ko to when I was 10 years old (Iloilo to Manila) buwan ng June nun,ang sama ng panahon that time dahil sa low pressure, grabe ang takot namin noon..dahil talagang malalaki ang alon lulubog at lilitaw ang barko, sinabayan pa ng malakas na ulan at hangin bandang hapon, pagdating ng 6:00 pm nagrosaryo at nagdasal pa kami kay st.francis of asisi nun kasama ang mga crew at pasahero.. kami nun ay nakahiga lng sa di tiklop na higaan sa pinakataas na balcony ng economy section, kaya nababasa kami ng ulan, kahit nakababa na mga tolda na takip..pinalipat kami sa lower floor ng barko ,binigyan kami ng mga mattress dahil sa sahig lng kami nakapwesto at hihiga, dinadaan daanan lang kami ng iba pang mga pasahero..but at the end nakarating din kami ng maayos at ligtas sa pier ng manila kinaumagahan😊
The first and at the same time the last NN ship that I rode. I was just a kindergarten that time, probably sometime around in 1997-1998. We were booked in economy. There's 2 kinds of beds in economy, the bunk bed double-decker and a folding cot bed. We were at the cot bed because that was the cheapest fare.
Bahagi na ng buhay ko ang NN, bata pa lang ako jan na kami nasakay ng mother ko..mula sa Don Julio at Claudia, sta Maria at Ana, florentina, den nagpalit ng mga barko..St Joseph the worker, St Peter the apostle, St ezekiel moreno, princess of negros, den St John Paul...ang huli Kong nasakyan ay St Leo the great...lahat yan ay safe akong nadala sa paroroonan ko..
nasakyan kopa yan noon from iloilo pabalik manila by which nasiraaan pa kami ng makina sa gitna ng dagat almost ilang hrs yun but then nung napaandar makina we still made it on time back to manila. imagine 2-3 hrs delayed yun palutang lutang lang. matunog na noon sa nn or nenaco na mabilis yan manila iloilo in just 18-19 hr... lang kaso nasunog, last nn na nasakyan ko na mabilis at malaki was mary queen of peace.
After more than a month after she caught fire at Nasipit, I saw her still moored at the port while me and the rest of my family were about to sail back to Cebu. I have an old 8mm video taken that time. I’ll post it at the PSSS FB page once I’m able to make a digital copy of it.
Mabibilis yung barko noon kumpara mo ngayon ubod ng bagal kaya nakakaurat sumakay ng barko parang ayoko na 24 knots mabagal padin sa ibang bansa ambibilis ng mga barko nila kahit yung maliliit
Although St. Francis met a sad fate, yet NN was had a great track record while serving its passengers. No ship sank since Don Juan in 1980, until the company became 2GO. Please do feature NN's M/S Santa Maria that went into service in 1980. That ship is still sailing with Lite Ferries as Lite Ferry 8, 40 years on Philippine seas.
You got to be kidding me Bud! That ship is still around these days? Gotta be 50 years old or so. Its already around back when I was a kid. I think I sailed on it back then. I seem to recall former flagship yan ng NN on their Iloilo/Bacolod - Manila route. Kinda "midget" ship compared to the other ship's plying the better routes of Iloilo, Bacolod, Cagayan, Zamboanga routes though. (NN doesn't do Cebu & Davao routes I think). But overall it's pretty reliable on its sailing sched as far as I know.
Because they are cheaper, and with cheaper maintenance cost. If it was up to me, I'd buy ships made in Europe as they are made with the clientele in mind. Spacious and beautifully designed. Every European ship I've come aboard of is just astonishing, small or large. But they also come with a price, not to mention the Euro currency is even higher in value compared to the U.S dollar.

Why do phillipines buys Japanese ship's?
