Good game! I've never made it into the endgame in the Ruy Exchange, so I never knew that exchanging queens gave such an advantage here. Very instructive.
At 15:20 my choice would probably have been Na4. Forcing his b pawns to free the c5 square for my knight. After kd4, organizing space and a passer, i guess the ending makes more fun to play for white. :-P
That was great! Thanks Eric. How were you able to calculate that the queenside pawn structures were locked down so easily? I'd have stared at that for an hour and still been none the wiser! Hmm, I guess I see you calculate at 20:40, but I still don't know if I'd see that.
It wasn't actually a matter of calculating. It was more just a matter of knowing that the crippled 4-pawn majority can't forcingly create a passer against the 3-pawn minority. It helps to play out a bunch of scenarios and see for yourself.
Actually, that person's rating is "unknown"--that's why there's a question-mark next to it. It's a provisional rating. Considering that Black managed to stay close to equality for a long time, and didn't commit any gross blunders, my guess is he's quite a bit stronger than 1675.
"I want to get rid of my Chess trophies. They take up so much space."
That flex tho.
Ahahaha we love him
Underrated comment
Thank you so much for the game Eric. It was so much fun playing you, hopefully I'll crush you next time ;)
"I feel like a lot of people would play knight C3..."
Me:"Oh I'm good"
"... But this move makes no sense"
Me:😢
The Bob Ross of chess!
happy accidents?
Brian Jacob no he’s making the comparison of how chill soothing and instructive they both are
Humble Bragging right here.. "I want to get rid of my chess trophies.. They take up so much space!" Haha!

Just watched this whole video and then realised I watched this live anyway
I find your videos so relaxing and instructive, thank you!
8:35 "There's 2 bowling trophy and 1 tennis trophy"
:O
I just saw a Christmas ad before this video started...it is Nov 6th.
I am a High School teacher and have a chess club with about 25 students who would love any trophy donations!
Why would you want a trophy you didn’t earn?
@@SuperYtc1 He wanted to use them as prizes for his students. Even if he didn't, why are you so bothered?
This was a very instructive game. Thank you!

Love this video!

@@eric-rosen Crippled by the doubled pawns? I'll have a play around thank you!
i dont know why, but i think i would be honored to have a trophy from you. The giveaway sounds nice
(19:00) pawn to B3
@24:44 I thought h5 felt cleaner. After the pawn takes or pushes then the knight can hunt g7 (after a pawn exchange potentially)
The first 3 words explain why he didn't play it.
23rd would be the 7th from the bottom. ;)
Great video as always. I learned something new about you. You play bowling! (:
Isn't it a BIG mistake to castle in the ruy lopez exchange without playing h3? After bishop in g4 white should have some problem from what I remember
I like toilet noggin!
More game!!pls I love this stuff
3:35 Can anyone tell me why 8. e5 doesn't work?
nevermind 8. e5 bxe5
@@derekmcdaniel6029 then your queen would be hanging, you have to deal, whether you trade or retreat, and after that blacks a pawn up
Great game!
How do I play with you
🤔 R u kidding me?... I can disrupt my opponents pawn structure in 4 moves?? Yeah... im definitely giving this opening a try. ⚡️🧠⚡️
🤫
19:40 if you turn ur phone, blacks positions looks like an Ak47
I want to be playing live with you just like you play with other players, how do I join the link
he’s a good player the time is his big problem
*Lopez**
at 23:20 Should have played Knight G6
Oh no, all my trophies are taking up too much space! What ever will I do?
Tnks. U r great.
Black didn’t play this very well. Let himself get so far behind in development
“I used to play this when I was younger”
As opposed to when you were older?
Is that confusing to you 🤔
@@jkws0 lmao. Like i was slapped i laughed good.n loud. Appreciate that
Rd1 isn't best. KR is better placed on e1. Followup for white might be a4 xxx Na3 xxx Nc4.
Damn reading these comments now, your fan base was toxic
Toilet noggin = 🚽 🐍
superb easy to beat opponet
The guy hung on for almost 60 moves, and Eric had to think for quite a while before he found the winning plan--that's not so "easy".
@@SaintD382 that is why he lost time
Unsubbed cuz you called Farmville a stupid game 😤
Its realy booring to play if you remember all the lines. Chess looses the fun of watching, thinking...
Why you always playing against guys you 300 or 400 rating points above? You're not sweet

I never play the Ruy, and I never play e5. This video is useless to meeeeee!! AHHH

I think it is little impolite to premove in a rapid game during the opening phase of the game.
I agree, it's just overly aggressive.
Sorry if it came across that way... I guess it's just an innate reaction to premove any obvious re-capture.
