@@stopdalies lol Lately I’ve noticed car manufacturers don’t make cars for people anymore. I don’t know who is giving them the information they need to make certain designs. I guess they have that “if we build it they will come” mentality lol
So I finally found a decent mustang knob and for some reason it doesn't look as good as the way it looked on this video. I bought a cheap Toyota knob and that thing looked right at home. But it was $10 and the cheapest poorest constructed knob I've ever seen. It's just horrible. So I found another Toyota knob and it's a genuine parts so hopefully it's better made than the current one. I've had to screw the knobs right onto the stick using the treads on there because 1/2"x20 is hard to find around my area for some reason. Every place I went had 1/2"x13 no 20s.... I found my old Jaguar x-tyoe shift knob and screwed it on by just using the shift stick threads and this thing looks good with the short shifter.
That’s awesome. I wish you could post a picture in the comments. Does that shift knob give you a spot underneath to be able to put the reverse lockout into?
@@davesworld2132 sorry I would post pic but I'm not very keen on the how to post part . I suppose I can take a video stills compiling all the different ones I tried out in the video. The one I ended up with is something I mashed together using 2 separate knobs. I bought a cheap Toyota knob covered in fake leather and a genuine FRS knob but the standard rubbery one. I took off the fake leather and wrapped it on the FRS knob. I need to JB weld the shift pattern cap on top so it'll stay and not move around. Really like this size as it's slightly bigger than the FRS knob and perfect to palm.
man that mustang knob is the one to get but its over $135 new and not easy to find. lots of used beat up ones on ebay that i would not waste a dime on that junk. gonna wait for a good condition mustang knob to surface. plenty of new toyota knobs so i got one of them right now to hold me over.... i think the brz.frs knob might work too but they are expensive too. anyone tried any other types of knobs ?
I tried a bunch. Anything works if you just tap the threads like I did in the video. But that mustang knob is perfect. Every once in a while a cheap one pops up,
No Chevy Cruze here...question though, if the outside temp transfers through to the knob- what happens when the tranny heats up? Just curious. Coincidence that the thread size is the same as a rifle compensator? I think not! Also, when tapping, I always back out a quarter turn every half turn or so to break the "chip" and makes it so much easier. Looks great now! When I dud this with the VW lining up the shifter was a bitch!
Hey! I have a 17 cruze RS, I’ve been trying to figure out how to change out the factory shift knob for a billet workz shifter.. but I have no clue on how to get the factory shift knob off with the reverse lockout. Do you have a video on removing the factory shifter?

@@cloranmatt Yes I was thinking if I wanted to maybe go with the white shift knob I can maybe find a smaller diameter one or a different color and then just simply put that part in my grinder and takeoff as much material as I needed.
@@davesworld2132 if often wondered on that kit if that is actually needed. I don't see where it provides any stability. I'm thinking its more for looks and to hide the adjustment nut more.

The black one with the chrome in the middle?

@@stopdalies 1000000000% lol. I wish General Motors put that one in the car when they built it. It looks like it belongs there.

I think you I’m glad you enjoyed them. If there’s something you want to see I will take the time to film some thing as well.

Hey Chris. On that car it’s front wheel drive so no trans heat bit if this knob was on a T5 in a mustang it would feel like a frying pan!
