Hey man I’m really new to this stuff. Do you think I could do it to my 2018 Cruze and not damage it? Could I just leave the intake visible and will it cause any problems?
You’re doing the same thing as installing a cold air intake. The car will relay react the same way as putting in a cold air intake. It’s pretty easy to do. They only hold up is you just have to get the little clamp that holds the harness off the box and you’ll be able to flip it around. I’m not trying to convince anybody to do this but if you were going to try and spend $400 on an intake this was just to help someone save money.
@@simplistic5306 NP. My video series on modifying this car I try to be as informative as possible. Not a lot of people are doing modifications to these cars.
If you do this mod, you might cause you motor to run lean and cause detonation later.when you add or modify a turbo charged cars intake, you really should retune the car. Don't sacrifice your motor for just mere sounds and looks . It ain't worth it.
I bought a k&n replacement filter and have been using that for a number of weeks with the cover on. Will this throw any codes if I do what you did without the filter replacement? I have a 2018 Chevy Cruze
In my car it did not and 98% Of the people I spoke to about it.i It did not but there are some people who did but it could be someone who may be messed something up during the process.
Awesome. I had fun tinkering with the car to figure this out. A tune is always recommended but at least you didn’t have to spend $400 to find out you do or don’t like having this modification by putting in a cold air and take.
I can't find the filter you are using. The ones I can find are just barely too long to fit what size should I look for. Or what brand is the one you have?
Yes and it’s possible it’s a Coincidence because that code comes up on a sensor that’s located in your intake manifold. And the other sensors located in the intercooler. When does the light turn on?
Hello Dave, I read one of your comments and it said that removing the plastic above the radiator, which would be the air intake from the outside, could the temperature decrease by 10ºC. Is it possible and is there a way to check? Thank you
Since then I’ve done a lot of testing and here is something people do not think about. Whether the air is 10° colder or 10° hotter the turbo is so hot that it’s gonna regulate the temperature anyway. And the intercooler is what’s going to cool down the intake air. It doesn’t matter where your air comes in and what the temperature is. An intercooler upgrade is what will give the car actual power increase.
Hey Dave, I have a 2016 Chevy Cruze LT I am still paying it off and want to know your opinion if i should do this or wait till I am done with the car payments
My opinion even if I have a warranty is always to mod the car because I enjoy it and it makes cars better. If it’s going to give you added stress to worry about the warranty you shouldn’t however it’s such an easy modification you can always put it back to stock if you have to bring the car to the dealership.
It’s not going anywhere. And if you wanted to you can just get some foam from Home Depot and put it underneath to give it padding. It’s literally doing the same thing as a cold air intake.
Hey Dave please help me so when I was doing the free mod and I go to pull the intake duct off I accidentally fully loostened it to the point one of the side fell out then when I tried to re clamp it I believe I’ve bent it slightly please tell me you know how to fix this or somewhere to get a new one?

Hey man I’m really new to this stuff. Do you think I could do it to my 2018 Cruze and not damage it? Could I just leave the intake visible and will it cause any problems?
You’re doing the same thing as installing a cold air intake. The car will relay react the same way as putting in a cold air intake. It’s pretty easy to do. They only hold up is you just have to get the little clamp that holds the harness off the box and you’ll be able to flip it around. I’m not trying to convince anybody to do this but if you were going to try and spend $400 on an intake this was just to help someone save money.

I did this mod with my 2018 chevy cruze lt and its throwing codes p2227 and p2229 and no blow off noise at all? Did I do something wrong?

My opinion even if I have a warranty is always to mod the car because I enjoy it and it makes cars better. Hi it happens sometimes because the car still reads the sensors when the car is off. It will either clear it self after a drive cycle or you can simply clear it with a code reader. But make sure you didn tleave anything un plugged.
The bottom of my air filter cover has a cord connected to something which is preventing me from pulling it out. What is that? You had no problem taking yours out lol
