Jake the easy way to know where the Canton or the Union (the blue part) should be is when facing the flag the Canton should be on the same side that your heart is on. So if the flag is vertical or horizontal and can only be viewed from one direction it will always be on the left. Now so you don't have to worry about the label just rotate the flag to the horizontal, simple.
8:36 the last layer of elec.tape should not be stretched. that way it won't pull itself loose. it doesn't look as slick right now, but it'll still be stuck down a year from now. which looks a lot more slick than coming unraveled on the end.
I was wondering why there was no abs remove series on YT. Thanks Jake for showing me this. It is lot of work to remove it. I don't like abs, I want to learn how to remove it on my future bike. This is such awesome episode even it is public edited video.
Hi Jake, maybe it is possible to deactivate ABS by disconnecting the fuse only .... obviously only the weight of the fuse and not of the whole 😀😀system. how much does it weight (ABS system) ??? THX !
I just scored a 2022 non abs. Saved 5lbs and $350, that bought me a nice skid and barkbusters.👍🏻 Hate abs on my cars and never had it on a bike, much less missed it.
Why not remove the fuse or disable the front hall sensor? Personally, in 50 years of dirt riding, I've usually found that a locked front end means you're off very soon.
I wanted a 300L with abs brakes so I could run them disabled, but they only had the model without the abs system. So that’s next on the list of upgrades.
If you want a supermoto why not buy an SWM SM 500 R V atm? Husky TE510 Motor and frame. I ve ridden it and believe me, it is almost race ready 52HP and... 6900 euros in my country, including the full power kit. Feels light as a feather, steers before you think about it, yet it is pinned down stable even when drifting. Harsh but amazing bike in an astonishing price.
@TheGardenSnake Not street legal? They are Euro5 with ABS, perfectly legal in Europe, which is very strict with vehicles. Ok, the full power kit is not street legal, but who will check for it? Only exhaust header changes, air filter and the ECU. The exhausts stay the same. I think only Germany checks these things. ps. i can feel you, the SWM dealer is 15min from my home and still feels far away lol.
I love abs on my 1150gs, it also has servo assisted brakes, so it's really sensitive. Doing rocky trails would be way better if i could lock up my rear tire so it digs in and plows loose rocks away instead of constantly rotating to roll over more loose rocks, but i wish the front abs would stay on while the rear could be disabled
Being able to disable the rear ABS with the button or disable it completely by pulling the fuse is pretty convenient. ABS already saved my but in the rain once so I prefer to leave it on the bike.
Oh haha. That’s a saved PNG I found online. I guess at some point I’ll have to make one of my actual bike. I’ve got parts and a plan to make the lame headlight look and preform 👌🏻
Tanks for the good vid. The quick fix is to take the ABS fuse out but which one of the two fuses that you mentioned is enough for the purpose? I'd expect it to be the one in the main fuse box, why also the other one?
I am sure plenty of 300L's sitting in Shipping Containers for 2 months now to break more supply chains. The ABS module is $800 with the lines and all would be $1000
I've never ridden an ABS that I enjoy at low speeds. I've almost ran into parked cars and dumpsters in parking lots because I go to stop quickly and the lever "clacks" and the bike studders and keeps rolling. That being said ABS has saved my life twice on my old MT09. In my opinion the highspeed life saving potential is worth the annoyance at low speed. I could see it not really being necessary on a 300cc dualsport. I don't have it on my Drz and I've never thought I needed it. I really think it's great on fast street bikes though.
All good points, keep in mind that offroad it is not an annoyance and is very dangerous. If left on, you will not be able to stop while going down a steep hill.
Here I am, considering changing my bike for the same model but with ABS to help save my bacon when the rain season starts and Jake is getting rid of the thing. I guess not everyone has to endure dailying a motorcycle come rain or sunshine.
@@TheGardenSnake Have you ever ridden a bike in a packed third world city with millions of people and chaotic traffic, like for Instance São Paulo? It's literally a different world, I'm not talking about silky smooth 3/4 lane highways that strech for miles upon miles like you have there or a recreational offroad ride on a grown man toy like a WR450. I've known people that most likely would still be alive if they had ABS, but they instead plastered themselves on the back of a Ford Transit or a VW Bus (Real story BTW, nasty nasty crash). I'm not saying you shouldn't remove ABS, given you're living in the land of the free and all of that jazz, but one must really think twice before doing so, even if one's been riding for over a decade like myself. It's tiresome whenever you advocate for safety and people reply with "maybe you should be a better driver/rider, turn in your license noob".
@@Arthurzeiro Well that's why you gotta be an adult and make that decision for yourself. If you like ABS then have it. I could argue that I just made it safer. But you clearly have your opinion.
I think I'm ignorant on the topic. Can someone please explain to me the point of an ABS removal if you can just turn it off yourself? Is it for weight-saving reasons?
Been planning on doing this on my T7. I was hoping graves or someone would have an abs delete module like the R6 or R1. The module and plug look the same.
2:03 Sorry but that's not how abs works. Not for a simple system like the CRF anyway, it just watches wheel speed, if it sees discrepancy, it'll activate, simple as. I agree with rear abs being a pain but you could just skip the ABS pump on the rear with a direct line and plug the block, keeping front abs.
I installed the abs dongle on my husqy701 wich lets me disable abs in the rear and front or only rear and it stays like that even if i shut down the bike, but in my opinion, abs offroad is awesome i i can rip the bike super hard in off road and then slam the front brake and it never locks up even in mushy terrain, but i guess the honda has crappier brakes cuz i can do stoppies with abs on, burnouts too
Hey Jake don't want to remove mine but a quick question as I don't think mine is working as locked up a few times way to easy on the rear. Anyway noticed the sensor on the rear is that meant to rub on the perforated abs disk like the front? Mine seems to be dead flush with the brake caliper and not touching that perforated little disk? Would it be just worn out? Only has 7500km on the clock.😢
No, the main ecu isn’t even throwing a code. This system is very simple. The ECU and ABS pump really aren’t even tied together on this bike. The ABS had its only ECU which is now gone.
Hi. Any idea if crf250l brake lines will fit crf300l ? Thinking about deleting abs on my crf300l and that would be nice alternative to simply fit crf250l brake lines, to do delete, instead ordering custom brake lines. But not sure if they fit. Anyone knows?
hydraulic oil/brake fluid doesnt compress but brake lines do expand, thats where your sponginess comes from with having more lines. Does america use a different brake fluid type to europe? All I've heard is how corrosive it is and irritating on skin but i've had brake fluid all over my hands and just lazily wiped up spills on the bike without ever having an issue. Does it just take a while to do actual damage?
I know the KTM/Huskys use mineral oil in the clutch but otherwise we have the same thing. I've been a KTM and Honda tech. They all ran the nasty stuff. And it doesn't actually hurt your hands immediately. Like it's not painful, but not good for them. You can tell if it got on your hands because when you go to wash them they'll wrinkle up really easy.
@@TheGardenSnake I heard that after I entered my comment. Sorry I’m not very patient. And often don’t watch till the end of the videos I watch. Carry on Snake
why didn't you just get the non-abs version? Also, you're understanding of hydraulics is flawed. There is no appreciable fluid compression for any length of hose you'll find on a motorcycle. The only amount of "flex" you'll have in the system would be the rubber lines, which is mitigated with the hardlines.
That grey beard hair's bothering me. Not because it's grey, but because it's flapping about doing its own thing. Gotta keep that strand of wisdom locked up.

Would have been cool to toss all that stuff on a scale and show how much the ABS system really weighs! Nice Job!
according to Honda specs, the ABS is 5 lbs heavier. 306 vs 311.
