- My first day in Thailand exploring neighborhoods and street food in Bangkok. Well it's finally here, my first day exploring Bangkok Thailand. Join me as I take you on a (mis)guided tour on my first day in this crazy city. I explore food in Bangkok as well as some local neighborhoods and markets. I risk my life on a motorbike taxi. Taking the BTS to On Nut was a good way for me to check out a potential area to move to. Thai street food Thailand is amazing. Let's explore the street.

Say what...? We would have to wear a mask walking down the street...? ...And that "meat product" you ate at 8:10 was a local street delicatessen, pig balls...
Thailand still has mask restrictions in place. Definitely indoors. It’s getting more relaxed outside and they are no longer fining people for not wearing one outside. You could walk around with the mask pulled down, and I see lots of Westerners that walk around with no masks at all.

Years back I arrived in Bangkok on a one year backpacking tour and ended staying there 5 years. It is always fun watching newcomers see it now. Enjoy! It is a fun town and I can see you are taking advantage of all the food.
I first came to Thailand in 2012, and it instantly stole my heart with the culture, the people and the food. I’m so happy to be back here and two now actually live in Thailand. Sounds like you had a great adventure!
Because the title says “first day in Thailand exploring neighborhoods and street food in Bangkok”. When I was here 10 years ago I was here on vacation and I did not go around exploring neighborhoods. Hope that clears things up Mark.
I have lived in Thailand from 2014 to 2022...My condo is around Onnut station... oh no..... And i moved to Japan now in March 2022. In the last month, I was so missing Thailand.. everything good in Thailand and those good memories... Thank you for the video that solved some of my mental issues that I really wanna go back but am afraid of regretting going back to Thailand... watching these videos are enough for me to conquer my nostalgia for now.
Wow, you lived here for quite some time! Sounds like you really love Thailand. I think I can understand how you feel. I am in a new place that I’m not familiar with, and for you going to Japan might be very similar. We’re both thinking of the comforts and things we miss about our old homes. Let’s focus on what is ahead of us, not what is behind us. I wish you the very best of everything in your new life in Japan!
Was there for a month in February this year. Can never get enough of Thailand 🇹🇭!
Nice!! I sold my house and everything I owned, so I just came here with two suitcases. I don’t have any kind of a timeframe for when, and if, I will leave.
@@LifewithSerg wow! That’s what I call a super free spirit! Well, I love Thailand and plan to retire there in a few years too. There are so much to do, people are nice, not expensive and it’s safe so it’s ideal for me. Enjoy life in the Kingdom 😃🙏🏼👍🏽🇹🇭!
@@LifewithSerg One suitcase is more than enough as you can get all the necessities at Big C. If you are bored with Thailand, hop on Asia Air and check out Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines and other Southeast Asia countries.
Yes I absolutely plan to check out those countries as well.
I was in Bangkok right before the world went into lockdown.. It's so strange to see it so empty and quiet. I'll be heading back there next month and I'm both nervous and excited because I don't know what to expect. I'm happy to FINALLY be going back to Asia though. I've missed it like crazy.
It’s pretty damn close back to normal. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
I’m enjoying your video. Brings new perspective to the city I've been living for the last 40 years. Keep them coming.
Hi Jun! That is really wonderful to hear. I am overwhelmed by the friendliness and support of the Thai people.
I really appreciate your support in Thailand as a Thai citizen. Your comments are absolutely valueable for us to develop in a more brilliant way (especially trash cans). Take care and feel free to visit Thailand anytime!
Thank you very much! I actually moved here to live here. I’m glad you understand that my comments are not to make fun of Thailand, I’m just pointing out things that are different.
@@LifewithSerg I’m glad to hear that. Hope you enjoy living here and best wishes for you!✨
How easily we forget. The lack of trash cans is due to paranoid politicians. They were removed and haven't been replaced because of one bomb in a trash bin many years ago! BMA policy.
Really enjoy watching your video. Can’t wait for the next one!
I am so happy that you enjoyed it! I should have the next one out in a couple of days. Stay tuned!
My wife and I love your channel. You have a great down to earth personality. Thank you so much for all your content.
I am so happy to hear that. Glad you guys enjoy my videos!
Just came back to Los Angeles after 2 months in Thailand and I miss Bangkok already. Great video and subscribed.

Welcome to Thailand. Wish u a pleasant and fun time staying here. Waiting for your next video.!
Thank you very much for your support! The next video should be out in a couple of days.
You are so amazing , so nice to watch an American man wondering around Bangkok , I m from Las Vegas myself and live here for 7 months now. Enjoy your time here my dear.
Aww thanks! It’s a blast here. Thanks for watching.
You seem to have a good sense of food selection. You actually picked up all the good stuff with little or no idea as to what it is. Hope you have a great time exploring!
Hey thanks! I’m just open to trying different things and I’m definitely a visual person. If it looks tasty, I’ll give it a shot.
Hi Serg, I'm Thai and UD alumni, welcome you to Bangkok.
8:13 The meat ball snack is "Sai-Krok I-san" (North-eastern sausages).
9:31 Salad rolls (Tuna, Crab-sticks, Japan's seaweeds) with Thai-seafood sauce and mayo mixed.
11:19 Spicy raw-crab salads. (Yum-pu-maa)
15:30 That noodle is "Boat noodle" which used to be sold on the small boat, that 's why they are sold in the small portion.
So that was raw crab I eat! I was kind of wondering while I was eating it. I’ve tried all sorts of the street food so far and knock on wood, I’ve been fine.
@@LifewithSerg Actually, it is not raw crab but it is some kind of fish with crab flavour (artificial). Thai kids love it.
The crab inside of the salad rolls is actually white fish. But in the bag was actual crab.
Stumbled across your videos while looking for Bangkok contents! We will be there in 2 months. So excited!
Oh that’s awesome, glad you are enjoying my content.
First day in BKK!! I feel excited with you. I love your energetic conversation to the audience. Welcome to Thailand na ka.
Thank you so much! It was a long and exhausting day, but I really enjoyed it.
Enjoyed watching your video and sharing your experience as a 10 year returnee to the Land of Smiles.
Thank you Anthony, I appreciate your support and I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Hi Serg, stumble on your video when you were traveling to Thailand and now this. Just subscribe, great videos! Love the attitude that you would try anything that's how you live life and enjoy, we only have one lol. Looking forward to your future videos. I will be traveling to Thailand in November and it is great to see daily things that is happening there. Enjoy and stay safe!
Hi Kelly! I firmly believe that at the end of our life we will regret the things that we didn’t do, more than the things we did. It’s been a great journey, and I think you will have a wonderful time when you come to Thailand as well. Thanks for your support!
Great video. I did the same thing twice in 3 years. Loved it. Thanks for an interesting take on what you do all day.
Hey I’m glad you enjoyed it, there’s more to come. Thank you for your support.

Nice work man, keep the content coming, keep safe
Hey Sam, glad you enjoyed it! I’m doing a livestream in less than an hour if you care to join.
Totally enjoyed your video! The the quality of your video is spectacular by the way! I can just about feel those ripples on the alligator's skin. For a moment there when you went over the overpass, it looked like your almost got tangled with the tangle of wires that is Bangkok. Thought I lost you there for a moment when you just about became part of the scenery!🤪 I'm surprised how close those wires were to you. Thanks for sharing the adventures on your day of strolling through Bangkok. Look forward to your upcoming videos!👍😀
That monitor lizard was the smallest one I saw in the park that day. There was another one swimming that had to be at least 4 feet long. These things are kind of all over the place. As for the wires, I’m simply fascinated by them. It’s just this crazy tangle up in the air. Half the time you can hear the electricity running through them. It’s amusing and frightening at the same time.
can't wait for the new video
I’m about halfway done with the editing. Hopefully sometime tomorrow it will be released
really cool.....looking forward to following your adventures.
Thanks William! I’ve got a new video coming out in less than 24 hours.
Looking forward to following your journey 👍👍
Welcome on board! I have so much I want to do and share with everyone.
8:12 The Esaan (North Eastern) sausage!! Rice, pork and sour pork together. My most fave! 🥰🥰
Ah yes. That’s what I was wondering was inside. Rice. It was very different from any sausage I’ve tried before.
Great video Serg. The only negative, I have the1980's one-hit wonder by Murray Head, "One Night In Bangkok" stuck in my head!!
Thanks man! Ha ha ha. Yes that song. Lol. What’s really interesting about that song, is that most people don’t realize that it’s all about chess. Once you listen to the lyrics, you can clearly see that he’s singing about chess.
Safe travels first of all. Great video. I am from California and now in Dallas area. Next stop will the Thailand. Good luck.
Well! I moved from San Jose to Austin a year ago. You’re almost following my footsteps! Best of luck in your travels!
New sub. I've been in Tokyo for two years now and look forward to comparing it to Bangkok. I never worry about getting hit by cars or mopeds here. They're very polite, lol. I like your laid-back style. Consider throwing in some interesting history too wherever you go. Will go to visit once the "situation" improves.
Thank you very much. yeah I’ve been to many different countries and I would say so far the drivers in China were probably some of the most aggressive. As for the history, that is one thing that I am trying to work on his remembering to include some information about where I go. I’m hoping to do that in my next two videos that should be out in the next couple of days. See you soon.
welcome to Thailand ✨
Thank you so very much!
Thank you for introducing Thailand to the world. Welcome to Thailand!
Thank you so very much, I am really enjoying myself here.
Whoa, that was so superb and so magnifcient :) epic stuff :)
I really appreciate your support! Thank you so much and I hope to bring you more fun content very soon.
Good content! Love the transparency of getting lost in a city, it always makes the adventure a bit more fun (:
Thanks Lauren! I almost got onto the wrong train again! I keep going to the wrong platform because I keep thinking left hand drive country, when I’m in a right hand drive country. Lol. Fortunately, I quickly learned to look in the “wrong“ direction when crossing the street.
welcome!
Thanks! Happy to be here and to explore.

I rewatched the first day you came to Bangkok in video again. Thinking about that day, it's been almost a year since you came to Bangkok. Thailand's new year is coming. You will enjoy Songkran, especially the water splashing tradition. I'll be waiting for your new videos my friend.
Yes, it’s been almost a year! I was actually here last year a week before Songkran. But there was very few festivities. Hopefully this year will be more interesting.
@@LifewithSerg Yeah, I wish Songkran to be fun this year.
So many activities in one day. Fantastic! Find the new experiences here. Cheers!
I was so jetlagged and head out rough five hours of sleep, but I was determined to go out and explore on my first day. I crashed so hard later that night. Lol.
Well, I am still in the middle to watch your first-day clip. 55
Hi Serg. I literally enjoy watching your channels. Lumpini Park is connected to another cool and huge park called Benjakitti Park and Sukhumvit area by the footbridge (in the video at 03:09). Take care and enjoy life!!😊👍
Yes, the green mile connects them both. I walked a very small portion of it, will have to do more soon. If you like Lumpini park, I think you’ll really love the video I made today. Should be out in the next day or so.
Very nice video , simple straight forward
I’m glad you enjoyed it Mohammed. Thank you for your support!
Welcome. Lumpini is awesome but if you haven't discovered it yet they did an overhaul on Benjakitti Park. There's a walkway over and around the wetlands. Check it out. I live in On Nut and love it. Food Court upstairs Terminal 21 is really good and cheap.
You’re like the fifth or six person that’s told me about Banjakitti park. I definitely find to go check it out as it looks really cool. Yeah that food quarter terminal 21 is ridiculously cheap. I’ve actually had quite a few lunches over there because it’s only a two minute walk from my current location. I’m gonna have to swing down to On Nut and check it out one more time. Tomorrow I’m going to check out the Phrom
Phong area.
👍great video, looks like your having fun...... i like the Moto GP start 😂
Yeah I think one of my top two favorite/hilarious things to notice here are the MotoGP starts, and all the wires up above.
Glad.you are doing the local stuff. I am sure in time you will be.a.local
Keep it.up Serg.

Nice VDO. Keep up good work. I will be home in Bangkok next month. Anyway, welcome to Thailand 🙏
Thank you so much. Everyone has been so welcoming and kind.
If you think it's humid now, wait a month or two when the rainy season starts. On Nut is a good area to stay, not touristy and cheaper rents than lower Sukhumvit. Have fun!

That meat balls you ate. It's called Sai Krok Isaan, or Northeastern Thai sausage. It is made out of fermented minced pork and rice. very tasty and it's my favorite snack. Don't eat too much of that and other street foods though since your stomach still needs to adjust to these all delicious local foods.
Thanks for the tips! Oh my stomach is fighting with me every day. But I don’t care! 🤣😜

Yeah I guess the good thing about coming here in the hottest month of the year, is I’m forced to just endure it and get it over with. Honestly, it has not been nearly as bad as I remember it 10 years ago.

Nice job with the walk and talk video Serg. The Apple iphone video quality is good especially for external shots. If I was nitpicking I'd say pronounce the main strip as Sookumvit. Luckily I'm not that pedantic. lol Might be an idea to get a rabbit stored value card for the BTS.
Thanks for the tips Doug! I know I’m still messing up pronunciation of certain things, it’s something that I’ll just have to smooth overtime. And yes, on my second trip I picked up a rabbit card. 👍

Next time please try noodle with blood, it's delicious.
Fact: Boat noodles are a favorite dish in Thailand. They're made with loads of herbs and spices, plenty of pork, and a secret ingredient: pig's blood. The blood is used to thicken the broth, but it also adds a rich, umami-like flavor to the dish.
I just tried blood cubes for the first time a couple days ago. I will definitely try the boat noodles with blood next time.
Excellent !
as I am Thai. if you have free time I would like to recommend you to visit Bangkok's 240th Anniversary Celebration at the National Museum 😀
Ahhh. Ok I will go check it out.
Great. I love Bangkok. Was there several times as a student as I could not afford anything else. Do you need some recommendations? For example, I loved the rides on the river bus boats. They are super loud as noise distracts the bad ghosts. When I had a super loud bus boat, I went all the way to the end station. You have a beautiful view and action. It is amazing how the drivers slam the boat just with whistle signals to the pier. Everybody just jumps on land or on the boat and then full throttle ahead... 🤣👍 Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Hi Matteo! That’s some great advice, I actually was on one of the riverboat cruises the first time I came to Thailand in 2012. I’ll have to go on one of the dinner cruises and make a video about that as well. Thank you for watching.
@@LifewithSerg The river cruises are luxury dining events, you need to go with the public transportation “cruisers” 😉 cost nothing and it’s really fun. Watch this... 😀

Oh I’ve had some really good Pad Thai already. That’s coming up in one of my next videos which is coming out later this week.
@@LifewithSerg Don't forget to have Mango sticky rice too.
I am looking to retire in Pattaya in the near future, because of the ocean. It’s only 2 hrs away from BKK, I can visit on a local bus. You have to love the food where ever you retire. I love street food!! You should do a trip to Pattaya and The island out there.
I have already made a trip to Pattaya. I am going back to visit some friends there soon. Sounds like you will have the perfect place for you to live.
Ya gotta try the Sponsor drink. It replenishes your electrolytes and tastes pretty nice as well. Lumpini...get there early and check out the ballroom dancing - badminton and many other shenanigans! The evening activities are a little more...risque shall we say! Nice vid. Love Bkk for a week or so. The sky train - or neckstrain I call it. People are hooked on their cell phones. lol
Thank you for all of that advice Douglas. I’ll definitely try to find that drink. Thanks for watching!

Nicely done man. Quality was great and looks like it’s been filmed on a more professional camera rather than an iphone 👍🏽
Thanks! I record and edit all my videos on an iPhone 13 Pro Max. It rocks. I actually have video editing software on my laptop, but I have not learned how to use it yet. I need to make the switch soon.
@@LifewithSerg brilliant, I would never have thought it was done directly on the iphone.
I’m on the 12 pro max, will have to try it out
Yeah these last two videos are the first ones that I’ve shot and edited on my iPhone 13 Pro Max. All the ones from the year before were shot and edited on an iPhone 12 Pro. But at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what equipment you use. It’s the content that matters. Somebody could give me a $30,000 professional camera, and then give a professional a cheap digital camera, and his results will be 100 times better than mine. Lol. I have a LONG way to go, but I love to learn. Give it a try, I think you’ll be surprised with the quality of the results.
@@LifewithSerg my sentiments exactly Re the equipment. I’ve just picked up a 2nd hand DJI pocket 2, the features it has make it so simple to vlog.
I love Thailand, visited 3 times and had to miss a trip at the beginning of the C word pandemonium.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of your videos to rekindle my love for the country and spur me on for the next visit. 👌🏼

That noodle, you have to try the blood version. I know it sounds weird but it is the famous menu for that kind of noodle ( boat noodle). 😊
I actually tried it last night. Also tried blood cubes. It was OK.

Great video, really enjoyed it. Looks like you are having a great time so far ! One question though, do you know why there aren’t any garbage cans on the streets? Just curious.
I asked my friend here, and her reply is that none of the shop owners want to take care of the garbage. I definitely want to find out the longer answer to this as well.
Great video first day. Surely, you will soon explore area along old china town and Chaopraya River. The boat ride along the river is super including many heritages to see and visit. (^_^) Welcome to Thailand!... enjoy&glad you love Thailand. All very best! (^_^)
Thank you very much for the warm welcome! Yes, there are so many places that I want to explore around Bangkok and then so many other provinces. I am excited to see new things every day.
Hi Serg Bangkok looks amazing. The food looks wonderful, And you look very happy but be careful and get that helmet. The traffic looks very scary.
Yeah as I mentioned the video, I’ve been riding motorcycles for 30 years and this was just a momentary lapse of judgment. When I do the motor bike tours I’m absolutely going to get protective gear and buy my own helmet. The helmets the rental places provide you are pretty beat up and low quality. And yes, Bangkok is crazy! 10 million people!
Love your videos and Thank you for taking us on this journey with you . Do you have any videos where you talk about yourself ? It takes a lot of balls to move to another country alone. would like to see more of where you came from . Thanks
No, I haven’t made one of those yet. Once I get a larger following I will share that information. I’m definitely going to have a big lifestream at 10,000 subscribers and I will answer everyone’s questions. There will likely be a live stream around 5000 subscribers as well. Which at this rate could happen before the end of the month.
