L, near etc having autism makes sense, considering the entire orphanage seems to have similar like children. Makes it also sadder for when L died hoping Light was actually his friend. Maybe even deep down L knew Light was Kira. L appeared before Light had died on the stairs for a reason.
How could he think that someone who was possibly trying to kill him was his friend? L feigned it just as Light did. It's ironic though that if they had met in some other type of circumstances they would actually be very good friends.
@Mika If you like reading manga there's a Death Note fan comic named "Angelic Reeds" that explores L, Near and Mello's past and relationships at Wammy's house. It is ridiculously good for a fan comic. Plus if you're someone who disliked Near it might even change your view of him.
I have level 2 ASD and I'm very similar to L. In the reclusive, sits in dark for most of my days and having a really bad social intellect. But I mainly just sit in my dark house and play video games. A lot of people treat me like shit for being a "antisocial freak" so that's fun. I'd say I'm normal but apparently NOT.
5:23 i think he also showed emotion before his death. i don’t think he was faking that, because he wouldn’t live to reap any of the benefits, which means he can express emotion, but chooses not to, in my opinion. in general i don’t think he is as unfamiliar with social codes as you characterize him. i think he just doesn’t care about what others think of him. i also disagree with your claim that he has an hyperfixation on sweets, because we don’t see him having extense knowledge on them or even regularly thinking about them. it was an interesting video tho, and i do personally see L as neurodivergent so i agree with you on that front.
Someone with autism might not follow social rules because of not caring about them but the observer psychologist would still see it as a deficit, so it counts, because neurotypical people are more inclined to follow the social rules even if they don’t agree with them, but to a neurodivergent person it’s just not natural.
One thing is that L lies a lot, where most people with autism wouldn't. They see no point in doing that, because it's not correct. The mind games L are doing, some of them might be something we could do. Most of us are more like Near to be honest. Atleast with how most of us think. Not everyone acts like Near though, otherwise everyone would have been pretty obvious. We do show emotions, but in a more subtle way. I find it pretty hilarious how many people have thought throughout the modern times that we don't have empathy. Many of us are really obvious whenever we are worried about someone and some people still have the guts to say we aren't empathetic? I think it's more like other people showing less empathy for us. Just assuming things instead of asking or actually observing us (without staring please), like we have or usually do. But I do admit. L does show some traits, so you're still on something. I just think Near is a better representive of an autistic person. Atleast the majority of those who have autism 1. We don't do things out of greed or our own ego. We just want things to work and people to respect us like we respect them.
he lies whenever it comes to light because the situation calls for it + he can tell he's full of shit but he doesn't hide his annoyance towards misa and matsuda and doesn't hesitate to tell soichiro that his son is kira to his face or say that he's not that different from kira himself. i do agree that he doesn't have a fixation on sweets but i do think he might have one on celebrities cause i don't think he was lying when he said he saw misa on the cover of a magazine and there's a manga about him where we're told he likes to go to jpop idols' concerts + he acts like a film director (makeshift megaphone and everything) when misa is rehearsing her conversation with "deneuve" when there's no need for it. we're also told as a kid he saw solving a crime as solving a puzzle and that's why he likes them. we also see that he's very sensitive to sudden stimulation. on his first day at the orphanage he attacks a couple of older kids that tried to hug him because he thought they were going to attack him and he got scared and started trembling when aizawa suddenly and aggressively grabbed his shoulder, though this may be due to trauma. personally, i see both l and near as autistic, they're just two different people with different personality types and in different situations. l is an intp and near is an intj. l is calculating for the most part but sometimes acts impulsively and we can't forget he's still a young adult man directly against another young adult man so ego is bound to play a part on both sides, especially when he's literally handcuffed to the suspect. he's also been working as a detective since he was barely a teenager and has interacted with more people than near has and has formed an emotional connection with watari as a father figure. near on the other hand is cold and distant, only interacting with light directly at the very last moment. the kira case is probably the first case he's worked on and he's only around 17 at that point. unlike l, he's very calm and patient and knows that getting too close might cause his doom. near also hasn't truly formed a connection with l as a father figure, though it seems l did try, which is why he finds the whole "daddy's favorite" situation with mello, who does see l as a father of some sort, ridiculous. he's also been trained to be a detective as a young boy, while l was a detective because he wanted to and it came naturally to him.
@@claudiubota5901 I know. That's why I said "most people", not "everyone." The wording is important. I used a lot of white lies to try to get away from my oblivious bully during 3rd-6th grade. I were in a school group for autistic kids and I used white lies to get away from that kid, so I had less seconds or minutes with them getting angry and all. Anger is a fear of mine so yeah.. I think even the other kids lied to that kid to help me. Sometimes atleast. But I resorted to white lies, because they are easier to remember, and there are still some truth to it. All for a few more seconds of peace at school. Yeah, we are all really different. I feel alien even around fellow autistic people. I can understand them but barely none of them can understand me, and since I crave understanding, it has taken a toll on me. I still cherish my friends, I just need one really understanding friend I guess.
@@lilenwasnothere6867 Yeah we're all different ad act different, that's true. Maybe it's just me, but I don't perceive Near as cold. He's distant, which I can relate to a bit, but I can clearly hear he cares about his team members and Mello. I also love how savage he was to Light at the end!
