I'm going the other way, to Aus. Just got my permanent residence. UK and London in particular has worn me down too much mentally, been here for 25 years and cannot handle the long dark damp miserable winters and cost of living anymore. I'm nearly 40 and still don't own a property, UK sucks.
Then you will never own a property in Australia or New Zealand!… Go to the U.S. where there are plenty of opportunities with much higher pay and housing costs are still very reasonable.
@aheat3036 My husband is Australian, but grew up in the UK and we live in the Western U.S. Unless you live rural, a house is very expensive and cost of living is high right now. Our saving grace is that I bought the house we live in during the recession affordably and we did the renovations ourselves.
good on ya. i did this in finland. i returned to aust after 4 years but im heading to Scotland to make a life in april. new life in a new country is so addictive and fun. not everyone understands 😜
I moved from the UK to Australia 20 yrs ago. You'll love the ease of travel around Europe, etc. Just in time for long summer nights 💕 London is epic! Carnaby St and markets it's so different to here. I'm on the Gold Coast and it just got pretty chilly 🥶
Omg any intentions to go back to the UK? Yes, the sun has been going down at 9:30pm which shocks me 😂 I’ve been loving it so far, thank you for the recommendation!
@@beingbett no intentions on returning, I did my time 🤣 winter will be the real shocker, go to work in the dark go home in the dark 🥶 freezing cold, no thanks 😊 hope your doing OK over there 👍
It’s so rich in history and culture, it’s exactly what I was after. They just extended the Youth Mobility Visa to 3 years instead of two, so I may be here longer than expected too 😂😂 What made you decide to go back to Aus?
@@beingbett London is the greatest place in the world when you’re in your 20‘s…in your 30‘s, when your priorities change, a little bit of the glam wears off 😉. You’ve just got there, so live it up!
Hope you have a great time exploring the world and do return to Australia some day. I came to Australia 41 years ago and found it really difficult to settle. I am glad I stayed because now I would not leave even if you paid me. Life is so easy here. There are plenty of opportunities here.
Hey! I work in healthcare and am fairly skilled for my particular profession so I had a job offer 3 months before I was due to arrive in London. Even with that, I did run into a couple of hurdles because you can’t sign a work contract in the UK without proof of right to work (a BRP in my case which you collect at a post office once you arrive). This made it difficult to sign a lease on a flat as basically no sane person would offer you a rental contract without proof of UK income. With that being said, once your visa is approved in which ever country you’re coming from, try your luck searching for jobs before you come. As for finding a place, I booked an Airbnb for 1 month which allowed me enough time to search for a place to live in the buffer period whilst my work contract was getting sorted out. There are lots of rental scams so make sure you view the properties you’re thinking of renting!
Australia is the most dangerous and most dodgy country I have ever lived in. I've also lived in beautiful China and I'm building a house in the Philippines for emigration.
@ashley-fk6dp Undoubtedly the most dangerous era that Australia went through in recent times was the Liberal National Party pseudo nazi regime led by Scott Morrison. The Robodebt Murders, the Cashless Debit Welfare Card trials, that caused homelessness, hunger, and suicides to many that were caught up on it. The Australian Commonwealth Federation has completely betrayed the Australian people. An over satuated immigration program, nowhere to buy or to rent an affordable property. Property is seen as an investment and not a right for living in, barring its own citizens from coming back to Australia during Covid-19, and the list goes on. It was only after the LNP was removed from federal power that I stopped preparing myself to fly to Beijing to apply for asylum from Australia. My family are Chinese government officers in the CCP. My daughter is the District Manager of Sanming City in Fujian Province, China.
Hi lovely, I’m on the Youth Mobility Visa. Depending on where you’re from it allows you to live and work in the UK for two years ( soon to be three) if you’re between 18-30 years of age 💕
