Coinicidence that another guy posted a similar tutorial a couple of weeks ago. I learned this move by copying pro players as a kid in the late 80's, when it started becoming a thing. John Barnes used to use it. It was a very succesful move for me over the years. However, I feel that now, the step over needs to be executed much quicker than it was 30 years ago, partly because defenders are sort of used to knowing the move. Back then, it was a new thing so defenders had no idea how to combat it. But as time has gone by, they have become more accustomed to it and so to execute it properly now, it has to be done at a faster speed than it did back then IMO.
That’s a good point really. I decided not to go into the speed too much in this video as for me it’s important to really get the technique right before you start doing it at higher speeds, and I don’t want to rush people in the beginning. You’re completely right though. /Jay
Hey there unisport, i’ve been watching your videos recently and they are really nice. Yesterday i asked my father if i could join and play for a club in my city, and he said it was quite expensive, even though it was an okay price. Though i was okay with it, he said that he would give me 6 months and if i don’t improve in 6 months, i would have to leave football and he said football wasn’t my thing. I am an indian player, and to be honest, i feel like giving up. it’s the feeling of not being able to even go professional, because indians don’t really play football, and they don’t play world cup, or any good tournaments. So i kept thinking, why should i even play? Days pass and i feel like i can’t leave football. i was just stuck to the game. could you make a video on how to start playing well, and maybe a sort of schedule on different types of training? You don’t have to. Thanks Unisport. Love from all around the world
Oh it totally is - the reason I don’t mention it is that it usually happens automatically if you’re on your toes with bent knees and start to step over the ball. But good shout nonetheless.
Hey Unisport, could you tell what to do for foot speed? Like for these skills our foot speed is important. Generally foot speed is important for fast dribbling. Could you say how can its speed please...
It's basically about practice. The better you are at doing certain skills - or even dribbling with the ball - the faster you can do it. Always start slow and the increase the speed. /Jay
