It WAS necessary to have it in the game. This conversation reminded both Nate and the players what they were getting into since it's been a while since the last adventure. It also had the infamous "One last time" line which isn't in the game at all save for the platinum trophy.

OK guys for those of you who are confused between what CG, in-game and in-engine is let me clarify: This trailer is NOT CG. But is also NOT in-game. This is in-engine. In-engine means they used the engine that runs the game when you're playing it to make the trailer. This is the same thing with The Last of Us. The cutscenes in The Last of Us looked better than in-game because they're using the same engine, but do not have to render the whole level, which means they have extra resources they can use to make Joel's face look better. The same thing is happening here. I'm sure the WHOLE forest isn't being rendered. Instead, they're using those resources to put more detail in Drake's face. It's all a matter of how and where they use resources. That said, the gameplay visuals are relatively proportional to cutscenes, since it is the same engine that runs both. This means that the gameplay visuals will look like nothing we've ever seen on consoles, since the trailer is like no cutscene we've ever seen on consoles.

But I say give it two or three years and that hardware is so outdated we PC guys start yelling again about bad graphics in all the console ports.... just remember the last 5 years of the last generation of consoles. I miss Crash Bandicoot. (No, I'm not saying that Naughty Dog should make a new Crash Game, although it'd be cool, it's unlikely. They've moved on). I got a ps4 last year in August along with the last of us remastered. The game is in 1080p60fps and it works just fine. So, I don't know why you guys think the ps4 will burn if a game is 60fps for single player. Because mine works just fine. Haha
My pants are so full right now. The amount of detail on Drake is astounding. Naughty Dog managed to do magic tricks on the PS3. I can't wait to see what they do with the PS4.

If so, I don't think that would've been bad really. All good stories should end at one point, and Uncharted is one of the few game series where all the main games have been amazing. Sooner or later, every concept will eventually run dry, and games that continue past that point becomes forgettable. If Uncharted were to end after this game (And this game looks really promising), it would go down in video game history as one of those almost flawless series, instead of becoming one of those series that never ended. That's just my opinion though, don't know if anyone agrees or not.
Demon Sniper you make a good point but there's still things that I really want to see. Like maybe going more into detail on playing a younger Drake, or go through Sully adventures before he even met Drake you know, hell even play as Elena for once. There's no doubt that I'm excited about this game its just that I wanted more backstory stuff you know.
That title of "A Thief's End" can mean multiple things. Most are assuming it means Nathan or Sully is going to die, but when does Naughty Dog ever do what you expect when it comes to story? Previous Uncharted titles have been pretty ambiguous. Even after completing the game. Pretty smart strategy. Those titles keep fans theorizing about what they mean until the game comes out. It keeps the interest going. If anything, it may be the end of the series, but I kinda doubt that. Unless Naughty Dog is gonna shelf the franchise for a while to focus on more new IPs that they want to create. That I could see happening, but I think they would eventually come back to the franchise. Or maybe I just refuse to believe that Naughty Dog would kill off Sully or Nathan. I could probably deal with Sully passing, but NOT Nathan Drake. Regardless, I'm very excited for this game. Cannot wait for its release. And when it comes to graphics with Naughty Dog and their teasers/trailers, they are pretty much exactly what we get in the game. They know how to develop to the extent of the console's graphical ability.
You are right. It might be Nate's end as a thief, or they might even kill Sully, but I don't think the franchise is going to end with this game. I'd be pretty sad if it did, though. On the other hand, nobody wants a franchise ruined by excessive milking. I guess things have to end eventually. We'll just have to go through the mourning process like when our favourite series end.
If this does end up being the last Uncharted game, the great thing about Naughty Dog is that they will bring us some top quality new games to fill the void. They have earned my trust with the truly fantastic games they keep turning out.

Want to know something funny? There's no pc game in existence that looks this good. My pc is 3 times as powerful, but I won't be seeing any games on it looking better than this for maybe a couple years... that's the nice thing about not having lower end computers as a lower common denominator sucking resources in development. Console exclusives can be very impressive!
I'm an Xbox One owner and I liked the video. Kinda sucks that PS4 owners have to wait another year for this game. But there's no need to have envy. I mean all you have to do is buy the console if and when you get the money and win-win.

I just finished Uncharted 3. I cant believe I was killing random players on Halo and missing this masterpiece. Off to get 1 and 2 now.
I miss Crash Bandicoot. (No, I'm not saying that Naughty Dog should make a new Crash Game, although it'd be cool, it's unlikely. They've moved on). Besides, ND never owned Crash to begin with, Universal Interactive Studios (Or Vivendi Universal Games, whatever you wanna call them) owned the series. Then later on within time it went over to... Activision. I really hope he returns before a decade.

I got a ps4 last year in August along with the last of us remastered. The game is in 1080p60fps and it works just fine. So, I don't know why you guys think the ps4 will burn if a game is 60fps for single player. Because mine works just fine. Haha

My pants are so full right now. The amount of detail on Drake is astounding. Naughty Dog managed to do magic tricks on the PS3. I can't wait to see what they do with the PS4.

Yeah sure but gameplay wise it's annoying for me to go back because I'm not used to the older gameplay anymore so it just gets annoying. Not that it's a bad game or anything, but it's not worth playing compared to Uncharted 2 and 3 but in my opinion, Uncharted 3 was the best in the series.

I replayed this a month or two back, and it still holds up in 2023. Granted there were some tweeks for the newer gen consoles and PC, but still.
That's cause games haven't changed a great deal in the past 7 or 8 years.

Oh no, that title makes it seem like its the last game in the series...
If so, I don't think that would've been bad really. All good stories should end at one point, and Uncharted is one of the few game series where all the main games have been amazing. Sooner or later, every concept will eventually run dry, and games that continue past that point becomes forgettable. If Uncharted were to end after this game (And this game looks really promising), it would go down in video game history as one of those almost flawless series, instead of becoming one of those series that never ended. That's just my opinion though, don't know if anyone agrees or not.
Demon Sniper you make a good point but there's still things that I really want to see. Like maybe going more into detail on playing a younger Drake, or go through Sully adventures before he even met Drake you know, hell even play as Elena for once. There's no doubt that I'm excited about this game its just that I wanted more backstory stuff you know.

That title of "A Thief's End" can mean multiple things. Most are assuming it means Nathan or Sully is going to die, but when does Naughty Dog ever do what you expect when it comes to story? Previous Uncharted titles have been pretty ambiguous. Even after completing the game. Pretty smart strategy. Those titles keep fans theorizing about what they mean until the game comes out. It keeps the interest going.
If anything, it may be the end of the series, but I kinda doubt that. Unless Naughty Dog is gonna shelf the franchise for a while to focus on more new IPs that they want to create. That I could see happening, but I think they would eventually come back to the franchise.
Or maybe I just refuse to believe that Naughty Dog would kill off Sully or Nathan. I could probably deal with Sully passing, but NOT Nathan Drake.
Regardless, I'm very excited for this game. Cannot wait for its release. And when it comes to graphics with Naughty Dog and their teasers/trailers, they are pretty much exactly what we get in the game. They know how to develop to the extent of the console's graphical ability.
You are right. It might be Nate's end as a thief, or they might even kill Sully, but I don't think the franchise is going to end with this game. I'd be pretty sad if it did, though. On the other hand, nobody wants a franchise ruined by excessive milking. I guess things have to end eventually. We'll just have to go through the mourning process like when our favourite series end.

If this does end up being the last Uncharted game, the great thing about Naughty Dog is that they will bring us some top quality new games to fill the void. They have earned my trust with the truly fantastic games they keep turning out.
Nobody thinks their going to die, every just knows this is the last game in the series. They just fear that they won't get a game similar to this ever again after the series is done, which is not true.

Want to know something funny? There's no pc game in existence that looks this good. My pc is 3 times as powerful, but I won't be seeing any games on it looking better than this for maybe a couple years... that's the nice thing about not having lower end computers as a lower common denominator sucking resources in development.
