- Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines sits down for an exclusive interview with Andrea Mitchell at the Reagan National Defense Forum for a wide-ranging conversation, including a discussion on the challenges facing both sides as the war in Ukraine enters winter. Pressed on how quickly Russia is burning through its military stockpiles of munition, Haines says “quite quickly. I mean, it's really pretty extraordinary.” Russia may be using up ammunition in Ukraine faster than it can replace it, Haines explains: “Our own sense is that they are not capable of indigenously producing what they are expending at this stage. So, that is gonna be a challenge, and that’s why you see them going to other countries effectively yo try to get ammunition.”

They report no communication ( letters et al ) from soldiers for extended periods if at all. We suspect the death count to be blocked for optical reasons. Ukrainian soldiers expect to be sent to fight Russian soldiers. They are met with massive shelling and never see one Russian . Russia adjusted their industrial capacity years ago for this possibility. They shell at rate of 60,000 per day ( or less somewhat ?) General Suravikin ( ( commander of all forces ) announced the intent to “grind down Ukraine forces”. Shame on this Ukrainian administration for not holding lives of their precious soldiers as valuable . Shame

There is more than one definition of indigenous. She is being very specific about using what is available specifically within their country. She is using the "produced" part of this definition from Merriam-Webster:
"produced, growing, living, or occurring natively or naturally in a particular region or environment, e.g. Indigenous plants, indigenous culture"
I have a background in environmental policies and an oft-used term was/is indigenous species and I also have economic development background and frequently used the term domestic or US production distinct of course from offshore production. I didn't say she was wrong but like I said already, it sounded weird to me (I didn't anticipate any comments but they're welcome and I thank you; it made things more fun).

This guy has been out of the loop for over a decade. He won’t be able to jump right back in the game after that much time.
