yeah honestly😂😂 but hes such a philosophical villain that I feel like its a bit more of a niche to like fang yuan than just characters who are blatantly evil
@@maxwellrak To be honest this so calld other "villain protagonists" are realy just anti hereos. There is some Evil protogonist like Judge Holden but they only fun on short term, they actions and goals are simple minded it simply become boring soon enought, FY on other hand is Demonic (there is no such thing as good or bad deeds there is only benefits) he work much better on longer run.
RI is my bible. I am reading the webnovel again for the second time. This is the only novel that forces me to stop and think (for hours at a time) after nearly every single chapter. The author is a god and RI is unique and incomparable to any of the other works you might have experienced. The only negative thing about RI is that once you have read it, you can't help but notice how lackluster all the other worlds/universes are. I understand that Solo Leveling is popular but it is a joke when you compare to RI. The Dune universe (including the Butlerian Jihad), The TLOTR MiddleEarth and The 3 Body Problem universe felt empty when I compare to a single Gu world. The wicked and scheming Lannisters in AGOT are saints and middling fools, when you compare them to Fang Yuan. When people talk about something as being "epic", I usually scoff in my mind, knowing that they have never truly experienced the magnificence, grandeur and brilliance that is RI.
**May contain SPOILERS** My take on Reverend Insanity is that it is one of the best written light novels out there, coming from someone who has read many of them, including the reincarnation, revenge, and cultivation genres. What makes RI so different isn't just Fang Yuan, but rather every single character in there, their motives, their goals and their reactions. Many times, once a main character gains a following, or a friend group, those people would defend the MC through thick and thin, they might even abandon their goals just to help the MC succeed. But with RI its different. The characters you thought where his friends betray him, and so does he. Not once do the characters ever stop to try and achieve their motives, no matter what side they are, be it demonic, righteous or lone. The characters are flawed, they're dynamic, and they're also fleshed out. They each have their goals and wishes, like Bai Ning Bing, who never once stopped trying to fight for an exciting life, even after Fang Yuan gained extraordinary strength, or Red Lotus DV, who, after receiving Fang Yuan's help, still plotted against him. The characters have the ability to go against Fang Yuan and defeat him. The author is not scared to show Fang Yuan as weak when he is weak and he does not stint on making Fang Yuan fail. Another thing I like about RI is that it doesn't blindly show characters in a black and white scope. Yes, the main character is a villain and a "demon", but he has not truly lost his rationality or his emotions, he is just one who acts towards what benifit's him the most, so are the other characters, albeit their methods of approach being different. There are many times Fang Yuan helps the righteous path, as much as how they also help him. The characters aren't also perfect, as there are MANY flawed characters, who infuriate me (Duke Long). The author perfectly shows the difference in powers, mentality, and will. The characters are stubborn, or understanding, or disagreeing, they don't bend to the main characters will, that doesn't make them evil, but that doesn't make them nice either. The characters have the ability to pick and chose and be characters/personality first and characterization later. Emotions aren't shown as a weakness, and the characters have the ability to perform as they wish. Another thing that I absolutely adore about RI is how they treat the female characters (which are many). The characters are treated as humans, to the point where you don't even focus on their gender throughout the book (except Bai Ning Bing and Hei Lou Lan (during the first half)). They aren't just limited to their attachment to the main character, as they have their own goals and wishes. Plus the Gu world is non-discriminatory (to humans) for the most part. Plus I haven't been able to make a single prediction towards the plot, the climax was genuinely interesting in every arc and the build up was beautiful(the Northern Plains to Zombie Arc's might be a bit long, but they are worth it). One more thing I love about the book is at first, I thought it wasn't going to appear much in the later parts of the story, but it proved me wrong. The legends themselves are very profound, holding deep meaning. All in all, I have much to say, but this is enough for now, RI is my top 1, from anything ever. Long Live Lord Fang Yuan
I agree with basically everything you say, but I must say that personally it was great until Destiny gu was destroyed, afterwarts I always had this Feeling that the world is targeting mc and nothing is really going right or in other words author is beating mc up. It is not that it was not the case in earlier chapters but then he could still go back in time, but after losing this ability his survival often depends on his luck which I don't really like, especially since often it doesn't seem as if it is possible to do so. Even though there is the concept of luck gus usw. I don't remember everything though, since it is a long time so if there is something wrong or I have it wrong in memory please say it. Ps: I liked ren zous (I think that was his name) stories the most. After all this story gives a lot od Information even though a lot of it is not real, but they are in bits and pieces throughout the novel, which makes you feel like you read 2 novels instead of 1. But I guess I should read it once again since it has really been a long time after all this was the first novel I read and now I have read a lot, but I have not finished many to be true I most of the time drop them after 100 or 300+ chapters. After 100 if the novel doesn't have any changes that makes me like it or 300+ when it gets Bad because Frameworks collapses usw. Though I think it is always reverend insanitys fault since as my first novel it set my Standards top high and now it is hard to find ordinary novels...
Just finished reading it a few days ago. Now I feel suicidal cuz .. u know .... "2335" But as FY said "there are no desperate situations, only people who despair". Ngl when I started thinking and learning about all of FY's ideas, i got extremely depressed, but then, idk, but i was able to digest everything and now i feel better than ever before. PS: 1285, best chapter.
Fang Yuan is a psychopath through and through, mundane people cannot relate. “I had once screamed, gradually, I lost my voice. I had once cried, gradually, I lost my tears. I had once grieved, gradually, I became able to withstand everything. I had once rejoiced, gradually, I became unmoved by the world. And now! All I have left is an expressionless face, my gaze is as tough as a monolith, only perseverance remains in my heart. This is my own, an insignificant character, Fang Yuan's - Perseverance!”
This is why RI is so good, just the narration, the whole world-building and how the author makes analogies about human nature, everything is so on point.
One of the peak fictional novels which can teach a person to be perfect in reality and to commemorate this novel let me post one of the famous quotes about life - How difficult is the perseverance of one person? All of the Gu Immortals here could answer that question. Because among them, some persevered because of responsibility, some persevered because of hatred, some persevered because of excitement, and some persevered because of love... And Fang Yuan’s answer? "He was still expressionless, he continued to move forward relentlessly. I had once screamed, gradually, I lost my voice. This is my own, an insignificant character, Fang Yuan’s - Perseverance!"
I see Reverend Insanity content, I click. A modern masterpiece imo. They should read this book in schools instead of Catcher In the Rye jk. The two things I like the most about the book is that there really aren't any plot-holes or "useless" background characters. The author will setup seemingly pointless, unexplained, or off-hand information that will play a part in the grand scheme of the book later on or hint at the progression of other factions in the world that lead to actions that influence the MC. Side characters are actually well thought out and represent "people" rather than cardboard cutouts. Alot of times the side characters will make very intelligent decisions based on context and/or thought out plans of action, rather than random "face slapping" scenes in other Manhua. I will say a more succinct explanation of gu would be: "Gu are basically tiny fragments of the 'Dao' laws of the 'Gu world' represented in the form of magical insects, and are utilized in all paths of cultivation. Instead of innate treasures or powerful cultivation techniques you store and use gu within your body and combine their powers in 'Killer moves' to achieve an infinite variety of effects. At low levels of cultivation, there are an infinite variety of gu to represent the infinite small fragments of the 'Dao'. At higher cultivation levels, there is a finite variety of gu because they now represent pieces of a puzzle, that when put together will make up an entire cultivation law (like water, wind, fire, etc.). They become that much more powerful in exchange for their scarcity."

Haha, great video. I read the manhwa long ago, when chapters were still coming out and was impressed. Now, i just finished Lord of The Mysteries and wanted to take a break before starting COI. I watched vids on TT of Reverend Insanity and thought i would give it a chance. I can tell you in all honesty, best decision ever!!! Am currently at chapter 288. PS: I started reading from the beginning. Love your videos, man. Keep it up. Finally a start to this awesome community.
The difference between fang yuan and other villains is that fang yuan isn't necessarily gonna kill you for example he may use you for your value and then discard you but that doesn't mean that he isn't a proper villain as he has quite literally no bottom line as long as it benefits his goals he will do anything and everything
I love you bro! Thank you for shedding light on the greatest philosophical fantasy masterpiece ever written! The only other webnovel that could match it is just Lord of the Mysteries. All hail the Great Love Immortal Venerable
Ey that’s neat a vid on RI. Genuinely love the story. Been rereading it multiple times since I forget some certain parts in the story and just getting to read parts where Ren Zu’s story comes up during a situation fang yuan is currently in is great. Some other neat parts is when he does something great and then begins to recite a poem on the spot which I think is pretty cool.
The only story that can give Reverend insanity a run for it's money is lord of mysteries, other than that, nothing else comes close to Reverend insanity, fingers crossed it will still get an anime👀
There are plenty of stories that I would rank alongside LOTM and RI. For Korean stories, I personally loved SCOG (Second Coming of Gluttony). The manhwa adaptation is horrible imo, but the novel is amazing. For Western stories, I would recommend reading TWI (The Wandering Inn). It's by far the longest running web serial that I've read and the latest one. It's got a very interesting world and would be one of the better ones I've ever read. (tho not as good as LOTM as it's a pretty high bar) It's more of a story for folks who love slice-of-life with their action and plot. But since TWI is still ongoing (and would be since imo it's the One Piece of webserials with no end in sight), I would just recommend reading Mother of Learning (MoL). It's one of the best webnovels I've ever read and would recommend anyone who enjoy reading to give it a try. If you enjoy time-loop stories, you would love Mother of Learning. It also has a very interesting world and characters. TLDR: I recommend: 1) [KR] Second Coming of Gluttony 2) [EN] The Wandering Inn 3) [EN] Mother of Learning And of course, if you ask me to rank all of these stories into a list, LOTM would still be #1 imo I would rank RI lower than all of these stories since it would never end 😢
@@josefpaolosecond coming of gluttony is pretty good but I read it a long time ago and dropped it around ch 70. I think I didn’t like the way the story was headed but I might give it another try

One of the few youtubers who are making Reverend Insanity known to people. great job, need even more RI posts..... Here are my thoughts on Reverend Insanity: The thing about fang yuan(MC) is that he is not truely evil. YES in contrast to our society the things he does are truly evil, but in their world killing is just ANOTHER WAY. fang yuan does not un-intentionally kill or harm anyone. he only does thing things that will help him achieve his goals faster and he will not discriminate againist anything either killing or not killing, killing a pig or killing a human are same in his prespective. all things are equal for him. I watched over 400+ animes,50+donghuas,150+manhwa/manhua but RI is different form all those.Reverend Insanity is my first novel and it is like a bible to me. The characters, philosophy, action, world building, and every thing else stand out from typical regression stories. One more thing i like about RI is that it has a book called "Legends of Renzu" which is like a bible in that world, the world building and story takes it as a foundation to elevate readers experience. In RI there are many characters that can have there own story as a novel, there are many capable individuals and fang yuan is one of them. He strrugles between life and death while competing with others for one single goal - IMMORTALITY. Fang yuans perseverence is unmatchable I would recommend everyone to give it a try, u wont regret picking it up...... ALL HAIL GREAT LOVE IMMORTAL VENERABLE!!!!!!
Thank you! Ya ur analysis on fang yuan is pretty spot on- bros evil by the means of our world but in this world the term evil is a bit skewed and he's just doing literally whatever it takes to obtain his goal of eternal life lol
A life-changing, eye-opening, enlightening masterpiece. I finished reading it last week ago. Every time I hear of this webnovel's name, I edge to it and weep, for I know there will never be another novel of the same peakness and glory as RI.
I completely agree to what you said for anime readers who wish to go to manga/novels, but describing Fang Yuan as simply a villain is criminal. Yes, he is definitely a villain through and through but he is more than that, his extreme perseverance to achieve eternal life whilst being unbound from moral and emotional constraints creates a path of benefits. The story builds Fang Yuan's character by delving into his past, from the start to the end his character remains fundamentally the same. His brother Fang Zheng is actually a form of representation of Fang Yuan's first life in the Gu world, Fang Yuan's attitude to life transforms into what we see now is the result of 500 years of pain, struggles and determination. Fang Yuan does not rationalize being unable to achieve his goal or not, if he does not achieve his goal that is his fault this shows his extreme harshness on others and himself. He would rather die reaching towards the sky than to be ordinary. Fun fact: Gu Yue Fang Yuan means "Gu goes beyond rules and regulations" Source: reddit PS: what chapter are you on when making this video, and now?
ya ur right about him not being a simple villain but we could realistically go on all day about how much character depth he has lol i mean he is a god tier character and has a goal that he wishes to pursue. but at the end of the day bro is an evil scheming villain. just because he sets rules for himself to follow and the fact that if he fails he knows that its due to his own incompetence does not change the law of morality for whats deemed good and bad by the general public. He is a great character but for the sake of the video not being too long, i sadly couldn't go more in depth on his experiences and what truly divides him from other characters that are deemed to be evil. I appreciate the comment too btw- I've skimmed through the novel so i roughly know what happens, but for in depth reading, I'm currently around chapter 500 and I believe when I made this video I was at like chapter 350ish
The funny thing about xianxias is that the ones where the protag is supposedly "evil" are the only ones where they have a moral compass. Fang Yuan is grey at best sure, but the heroic xianxia protagonists are pure black 100% of the time.
@@somerandomguy6233 An important factor in the fangyuan spirit is refined egoism. Throughout history, you can find that agricultural civilization has run through most of the history of human civilization, and the so-called electricity and steam are only a matter of the last two hundred years. Human progress has always been driven by a few.
@@秋绘雪之下 egoism in this case would be followed by team>individual, which would lean towards the development of others and yourself, Even if agriculture was the main thing for many years, that still doesn't change that currently steam and electricity is proving to be more convenient Also can you tell if you're trying to argue or agree with my point? I really don't recommend anyone to read Reverend Insanity. I have finished this novel twice. When I was reading for the first time, some chapters were boring as hell, so I dropped the novel many times. But when I finished first time reading it had changed my mindset in a negative way. You should remember that you should not read it if you can't distinguish between fiction and reality. You should strongly remember that you should not follow the logic of this novel. I personally like the perseverance of Fang Yuan, the protagonist of Reverend Insanity. Here are two edits that I really like about Fang Yuan: number 1: ruclips.net/user/shortsuibZiB4UgE8?si=vcXt2LqpXVNvtblJ number 2: ruclips.net/user/shortswpTN0bbkrKY?si=D70boXlHsfg7sqkJ This two videos always give me motivation to persevere .
Yesterday I described Gu as "creatures you can form symbiotic relationships with to gain super powers." I actually prefer the worldbuilding to the MC. So much of what he does is more chaotic Stupid than Chaotic Evil. I'm at chapter 560 or so in the audiobook, and sometimes I feel like I'm watching Eminence In Shadow, with people interpreting his actions to have profound meaning, but they seem petty to me.
im ngl it feels different reading it from listening to the audiobook. when you read it for yourself you experience moments that genuinely make you think heavily about certain aspects of life, the world, the mc, and stuff like that. However, the audiobook reads at a rather steady pace, taking away that ah ha moment per say or at least lessening its effect on you and the story
a good way from a casual anime fan to a reverend insanity: Re Zero----}Code Geass---}Solo Leveling (the anime and then the manhwa)---}The Beginning After The End---}I Am The Fated Villain----}Master of Gu---Reverend Insanity Note: this is the short way from a casual anime fan since it starts with classic starts with a dark side to a manhwa path with slightly dark meanings and lastly dark manhwas to end it with a novel
Beginning with re zero is a complex start, I'd recommend code geass first, Solo leveling will probably not be needed, I'm the fated villain along with the others you mentioned is enough to provide the needed stuffs for reverend insanity
@@somerandomguy6233 i think code geass is a strong start to someone who has just seen your usual "i want to save everyone" mc while subaru is going to make a softer start to see the backlash of a pure mc in a dark world and then code geass to get more comfy with the vibe of a complex mc and solo leveling is for an anime fan to start with manhwas and manhuas and the others are in levels because i can't see a "i want to save everyone" fan to get straight to reverend insanity
@@Vetrix-Vatrixi just think that re zero would be too complex a start, unless you start with novel of it, you probably wouldn't be getting any background stuffs and will only focus on surface since anime just put ALOTT of stuffs and shortened them and only put the main stuffs on longer scale, it will be hard to understand stuffs going on, and subaru also is a shut in who watches animes and stuffs, so his beginning stuffs about how he thinks his isekai stuffs would go might be confusing for a new watcher, I'd honestly recommend to see re zero near the end, it familiarizes with people like roswaal and echidna and overall cruel stuffs along with moral and themes that fang yuan uses from others for his own benefits, and also makes you prepared to read stuffs that have physically painful horrifying stuffs, And there are many other things but specifically my main point is that i believe it'd be a very complex start, I actually think code geass would be better, it gives off the world's history and stuffs early and there aren't AS many things to keep track off, And its more consistent than re zero too, and re zero is a fully insanely creative world building anime, and while code geass has stuffs like geass and knightmares, its not that difficult to understand their stuffs, and other than that its mostly political battles and people are surprisingly not that distinct with politics, and even if there's the trope of mc being considerably evil, we as viewers mostly see the light side of his actions and the REAL reasons he's doing it, so it wouldn't be AS bad, other peoples deaths being normal might be a rough beginning but they can get used to it, I personally just believe solo leveling would highly bore people who aren't into shonen stuffs or something, but i believe that other than these its a good way of watching
I have never read any novel never this was my first and the best 🙇🏻♂️🙇🏻♂️ believe me just read it even i have never read anything without pictures but this this is the goat fang Yuan
Don’t know if your still reading Reverend Insanity, but future recommendations I have for you are 1. Lord of the Mysteries 2. Er Gen’s novels(Renegade Immortal, Pursuit of the Truth, etc.) 3. Warmaisac’s novels(Sword God in a World of Magic, Lightning is the Only Way, and Kill the Sun) 4. Ranker Lives Twice 5. Second Coming of Gluttony Anyone who has enjoyed any of these pls like and comment so that he can see this!
reading RI is really life changing, I always copy and save quotes in my notepad. I really hope the author will continue the series it's really unfortunate to die without finishing it, but "The heart of a demon never has regret even in death" I'm still happy that I got to enjoy this masterpiece.
I recently came across a reddit post with big 3 faces in webnovels (lotm, reverend insanity, orv), I had only completed orv webnovel in those three webnovels!! although I completed only by April of 2024 webnovels have hooked me in!! I wanted a great story and Reverend Insanity is the one I believe that can statisy my taste hahaha I had completed 96 chapters of Reverend Insanity manuha, I downloaded the webnovel let me start it!!
just to make sure you understand something(btw im not being mean I loved your video keep doing your thing). Light novels are the published physical version. Like re zero has the light novel and a web novel. Its all in the name. When a story has a web novel its something like the draft(even if I dont like using that word) and after that when they publish it in a light novel(aka physical) where they put the art like in re zero. So web novels are only words published on website that host novels and light novels and sometime adaptation of popular web novels like re zero or mushoku tensei. But reverend insanity is only a web novel not a light novel
thank you so much you have no idea how much i needed this. I keep on looking it up and seeing so many mixed responses. some people say that ri is a light novel but lotm is a web novel and others say they're both web novels lol its been really messing with my brain
I followed the manhwa of this until it was discontinued I heard it was banned but did the author completely stop putting out the story? If that’s the case that unfortunate other than lord of the mysteries that I’m currently reading RI the only other thing that made me legit question and think about shit so I’m gonna read after I’m done with LOTM.
dawg RI is my first LN and its BANGING. After I caught up with the manhwa I wanted more and i never read full on no picture books out of school. I just finished the first ARC or book at chapter 200 and omg. I read it at 3AM i was so hype when fang yuan pulled that stunt. and i love him and Bai Ning Bing's dynamic. That first arc was fang yuan's biggest power up yet and the way he used the spring autamn cicado was a literal cheatcode. Ning Bing just laughing as he slaughtered everyone with fang yuan was amazing
@@maxwellrak i also tried to put my friends on RI but the power system is so weird to explain. like how do i tell them its worms with different powers but not all of them are worms and u have to feed them but u also have to cultivate ur aperture 😭
Hmm i have read it a long time ago since then my eye holds little value to other novels....But still some catched my emotions like lotm, omniscient readers point of view... But i today i am gonna share one of my favoutite novel to you. Name-"I hate system" Pretty original. 1)Has unique power sysyems not one 2)Has multiple worlds..we got a unique worlds among them there are appoclytic world cultivation world magic world and other worlds...You will read and find out. 3)A scheaming Mc not exactly evil but will do anything for his daughte rs safety 4) an interesting history between systems and other genres.. Trust me this is a master peice that not many knows. If you are bored out of system novels than i will recomment this. Systems as the villain. Sadly.and most probably the author died and its unfinished but its still worth to try it.. Try it man you have no life good luck.
I finished RI i can say it truly is peak fiction..tbh the ending does leave you really empty since it just abruptly stops although it feels fullfilling as: Spoiler alert He becomes a venerable which practically is the peak of power..
to live forever because thats when things you do actually have meaning. He basically doesn't believe that the things we do matter because we'll only be here for roughly 100 years at most. but if he lives forever everything he does will have meaning or something like that
@b-vjx4869 that's wrong he gose for enternal life because that's the hardest thing to achieve in the Gu world he dosent necessarily want immortal life his doing it because of the journey not destination achieving immortal life is the highest of the highest in the Gu world
Fang Yuan is not even evil.. he just wants to reach his goal and he will do ANYTHING to reach it. and if being a saint could help him, he would become a saint, if becoming a demon and slaughter billions helps him reach the goal he would do it without blinking. just blame his determination
I rank ri in the top of my list. I read several several books traditional novels, wn. (Spend around 7- 12 hrs daily on audiobooks.) Nothing even come close to RI.
Reverend Insanity is the best book I've ever read lol I constantly try to get my friends to read it, but when they find out it's a webnovel they laugh it off 😂 What a shame. Praise our Lord Great Love.
Definitely not allegedly, it’s pretty clear he did many times. They proved him right by banning the best light novel I’ve ever read… For me I would recommend reading until he leaves the village and makes it to the city. The journey from the village to the city is my favorite arc in the story, if you don’t like that then the story is not for you. The comic is okay, like he said it stopped before the story started to really move. A few reasons to like the book are the mc is pretty badass. There are many paths (kind of like element types) in this book, while other books usually just either do swords or 4 or 5 elements. This one has around 20 unique paths and the mc uses several different ones at different times in the story. While other stories focus on good or evil, all the characters are in between the two. lol even most of the ‘good’ people are the most vile.
You reading LOTM? If not then you should get on that for sure, the MC rivals Fang Yuan in writing, while the side characters in general tend to be better written than in RI & the world building alongside the power system stomps out RI
Lord Great Love Immortal Venerable is being called evil?! Pure blasphemy! Everything Lord Great Love has done was for the good of the people, he carries the blessings of Lord Paradise Earth! How could he ever be evil?!
greatest mistake in my life was reading RI as my first light novel. It was soo good that idk if i can find other novels who are slightly closer to its level
Wdym mean it doesn't get worse than him did you forget red sun and co ? Btw the legend's of ren zu are goated we need a physical copy to be sold as merch
i am mad they stopped this manhua but other garbo CN novels get hundreds of chapters of manhua.... it was going so well but now theres only novel for this
Read worm it’s not about an evil MC but she does some fucked up shit, wrong things right reasons. Also the superpowers are used to their fullest potential, and there aren’t really issues like you have in comics where it’s like, “why didn’t they do that then, they could have solved the whole thing if they just remembered they could do this”. In worm there is no idiot ball.

I couldn’t have put it better myself
It's good that you didn't say Lord Of Mystery.
I was explaining RI to my friends, trying to convince them to read, and I found myself quoting the chapters as if they were bible verses...
I wouldn’t say RI is better than the Three Body Problem books. For me at least, they are probably my top series.
@@hiq7137 dark Forest and death's end got too much of drama. Even remove those romance part story would still be same
**May contain SPOILERS**
My take on Reverend Insanity is that it is one of the best written light novels out there, coming from someone who has read many of them, including the reincarnation, revenge, and cultivation genres.
The listing is really sought after by strangers
What other novels you read? I just read RI and it's very well written, I couldn't find like it

Fang Yuan is a psychopath through and through, mundane people cannot relate.
“I had once screamed, gradually, I lost my voice.

And Fang Yuan’s answer?
"He was still expressionless, he continued to move forward relentlessly.

I had once grieved, gradually, I became able to withstand everything.

I will say a more succinct explanation of gu would be:
"Gu are basically tiny fragments of the 'Dao' laws of the 'Gu world' represented in the form of magical insects, and are utilized in all paths of cultivation.
Gu are the essences of heaven and earth, and human are spirit of all things. There's no need for further explanation! 😁
Yeah I completely agree with u! Thanks for adding on to my gu explanation lol I was finding it hard to put it into a proper description

Just finished LOTM and heard people say that this can actually be good as it so i am gonna try start reading it!
The only story that can give Reverend insanity a run for it's money is lord of mysteries, other than that, nothing else comes close to Reverend insanity, fingers crossed it will still get an anime👀
i would be praying on my hands and needs foaming at the mouth begging for a reverend insanity anime but i highly doubt it will happen😭😭
(tho not as good as LOTM as it's a pretty high bar)
It's more of a story for folks who love slice-of-life with their action and plot.
TLDR:
I recommend:
1) [KR] Second Coming of Gluttony
2) [EN] The Wandering Inn
3) [EN] Mother of Learning
And of course, if you ask me to rank all of these stories into a list, LOTM would still be #1 imo
I would rank RI lower than all of these stories since it would never end 😢

One of the few youtubers who are making Reverend Insanity known to people. great job, need even more RI posts.....
Here are my thoughts on Reverend Insanity:
The thing about fang yuan(MC) is that he is not truely evil.
Fang yuans perseverence is unmatchable
I would recommend everyone to give it a try, u wont regret picking it up......
You're exactly the type of content I like. Subscribed.

Fun fact: Gu Yue Fang Yuan means "Gu goes beyond rules and regulations"
Source: reddit
PS: what chapter are you on when making this video, and now?
ya ur right about him not being a simple villain but we could realistically go on all day about how much character depth he has lol i mean he is a god tier character and has a goal that he wishes to pursue. but at the end of the day bro is an evil scheming villain. just because he sets rules for himself to follow and the fact that if he fails he knows that its due to his own incompetence does not change the law of morality for whats deemed good and bad by the general public.
我一个中国人看了你这个评论才发现主角的名字居然还可以这么解释
The funny thing about xianxias is that the ones where the protag is supposedly "evil" are the only ones where they have a moral compass. Fang Yuan is grey at best sure, but the heroic xianxia protagonists are pure black 100% of the time.

Yesterday I described Gu as "creatures you can form symbiotic relationships with to gain super powers."
I actually prefer the worldbuilding to the MC.
However, the audiobook reads at a rather steady pace, taking away that ah ha moment per say or at least lessening its effect on you and the story

a good way from a casual anime fan to a reverend insanity:
Re Zero----}Code Geass---}Solo Leveling (the anime and then the manhwa)---}The Beginning After The End---}I Am The Fated Villain----}Master of Gu---Reverend Insanity
Note: this is the short way from a casual anime fan since it starts with classic starts with a dark side to a manhwa path with slightly dark meanings and lastly dark manhwas to end it with a novel
Beginning with re zero is a complex start, I'd recommend code geass first,
Solo leveling will probably not be needed, I'm the fated villain along with the others you mentioned is enough to provide the needed stuffs for reverend insanity
@@Vetrix-Vatrixi just think that re zero would be too complex a start, unless you start with novel of it, you probably wouldn't be getting any background stuffs and will only focus on surface since anime just put ALOTT of stuffs and shortened them and only put the main stuffs on longer scale, it will be hard to understand stuffs going on, and subaru also is a shut in who watches animes and stuffs, so his beginning stuffs about how he thinks his isekai stuffs would go might be confusing for a new watcher,
I'd honestly recommend to see re zero near the end, it familiarizes with people like roswaal and echidna and overall cruel stuffs along with moral and themes that fang yuan uses from others for his own benefits, and also makes you prepared to read stuffs that have physically painful horrifying stuffs,
And there are many other things but specifically my main point is that i believe it'd be a very complex start,
I actually think code geass would be better, it gives off the world's history and stuffs early and there aren't AS many things to keep track off,
And its more consistent than re zero too, and re zero is a fully insanely creative world building anime, and while code geass has stuffs like geass and knightmares, its not that difficult to understand their stuffs, and other than that its mostly political battles and people are surprisingly not that distinct with politics, and even if there's the trope of mc being considerably evil, we as viewers mostly see the light side of his actions and the REAL reasons he's doing it, so it wouldn't be AS bad, other peoples deaths being normal might be a rough beginning but they can get used to it,
I personally just believe solo leveling would highly bore people who aren't into shonen stuffs or something, but i believe that other than these its a good way of watching
I have never read any novel never this was my first and the best 🙇🏻♂️🙇🏻♂️ believe me just read it even i have never read anything without pictures but this this is the goat fang Yuan

just to make sure you understand something(btw im not being mean I loved your video keep doing your thing).

@@maxwellrakgive us one about the power system
dawg RI is my first LN and its BANGING. Ning Bing just laughing as he slaughtered everyone with fang yuan was amazing
we have almost the exact same experience lol just wait till the big thing that happens around chapter 400 you're gonna be so hype about it
@@maxwellrak what chapter r u on rn? fs brother keep doing what ur doing
@@maxwellrak i also tried to put my friends on RI but the power system is so weird to explain. like how do i tell them its worms with different powers but not all of them are worms and u have to feed them but u also have to cultivate ur aperture 😭
@@patchlantern haha i mean i made a video on it lol- I'm not that far in I'm still under ch 1000
Hmm i have read it a long time ago since then my eye holds little value to other novels....But still some catched my emotions like lotm, omniscient readers point of view...
But i today i am gonna share one of my favoutite novel to you.
Name-"I hate system"
Pretty original.
1)Has unique power sysyems not one
2)Has multiple worlds..we got a unique worlds among them there are appoclytic world cultivation world magic world and other worlds...You will read and find out.
3)A scheaming Mc not exactly evil but will do anything for his daughte rs safety
4) an interesting history between systems and other genres..
Trust me this is a master peice that not many knows.
If you are bored out of system novels than i will recomment this.
Systems as the villain.
Sadly.and most probably the author died and its unfinished but its still worth to try it..
Try it man you have no life good luck.
Thanks for the recommendation I’ll give them a try sometime
I finished RI i can say it truly is peak fiction..tbh the ending does leave you really empty since it just abruptly stops although it feels fullfilling as:
Spoiler alert
He becomes a venerable which practically is the peak of power..
i for myself stopped reading when the fate war arc was over and decided thats a good point to end and not leave with an abrupt ending
Isn’t he similar to Aizen sosuke
I read Manhua 4 years ago, It was peak of villainy
Well revrend insanity was my first novel as well shadow slave amd i was pretty much hokked up and just recently completed RI
Tell me, what is Fang's goal in achieving eternal life?
to live forever because thats when things you do actually have meaning. He basically doesn't believe that the things we do matter because we'll only be here for roughly 100 years at most. but if he lives forever everything he does will have meaning or something like that
Bcz that is the only thing worth chasing
@@maxwellrak
Ok thanks

What is this nonsense you are spouting? Do you really think this is true?
@b-vjx4869 that's wrong he gose for enternal life because that's the hardest thing to achieve in the Gu world he dosent necessarily want immortal life his doing it because of the journey not destination achieving immortal life is the highest of the highest in the Gu world
Alkebulane is the best story ever written on WebNovel
His bottom line is to have no principle and his principle is to have no bottom line
where to read the story
Fang Yuan is not even evil.. he just wants to reach his goal and he will do ANYTHING to reach it. and if being a saint could help him, he would become a saint, if becoming a demon and slaughter billions helps him reach the goal he would do it without blinking. just blame his determination
I rank ri in the top of my list. I read several several books traditional novels, wn. (Spend around 7- 12 hrs daily on audiobooks.) Nothing even come close to RI.
Where did you read Reverend Insanity? I need some help.
volume 2 ending was actually peak
tell me about it... it was truly a work of art
Reverend Insanity is the best book I've ever read lol I constantly try to get my friends to read it, but when they find out it's a webnovel they laugh it off 😂 What a shame. Praise our Lord Great Love.
Yessir, thank you. I can't recommend RI enough

Spectral Soul Demon Venerable is more villainous than the Mc tbh. At least if you have some use for Fang Yuan, he won't kill you (at first).
You reading LOTM? If not then you should get on that for sure, the MC rivals Fang Yuan in writing, while the side characters in general tend to be better written than in RI & the world building alongside the power system stomps out RI
ya its definitely next up on my list! I keep hearing so much positive stuff about it
It is better than RI for sure. Fang Yuan is too evil for my liking. The story is still pretty good though.
@@อรุณสวัสดิ์ครับ-ฐ7ท Fang Yuan's not for everybody and that's understandable, he's still incredibly well written however
@@อรุณสวัสดิ์ครับ-ฐ7ท idk I quite like how ridiculously evil bro is lol
Iam the fated villain is one of my favorite manhwas
That's a great taste indeed
Lord Great Love Immortal Venerable is being called evil?! Pure blasphemy! Everything Lord Great Love has done was for the good of the people, he carries the blessings of Lord Paradise Earth! How could he ever be evil?!
greatest mistake in my life was reading RI as my first light novel. It was soo good that idk if i can find other novels who are slightly closer to its level

Wdym mean it doesn't get worse than him did you forget red sun and co ? Btw the legend's of ren zu are goated we need a physical copy to be sold as merch
This is the best thing I ever read will
They ever bring it back 😊
The answer is always yes
i am mad they stopped this manhua but other garbo CN novels get hundreds of chapters of manhua.... it was going so well but now theres only novel for this
ya the manhua really stopped right before things actually get super good
anywhere to read manhwa after chap 96?
the manhua sadly ends at chapter 96
@@maxwellrak sed🥲
I have to say I can't read the book I immerse my self too much into what I read and reverend insanity is world is too grusome to me.
Oh yeah? If he's so evil, why is he called Great Love Immortal Venerable?
Great vid brah
preciate it
*Little SPOILER*
Sadly, Fang Yuan's venerable name won't be Scheming Scoundrel Demon Venerable 😔.
This made me chuckle due to the truthfulness 😂
goateed opinion, musnt read this novel.
bro you are cool love the content
thank you!!
Can we try n get the main guy out of China n bring him here to the old grate us of a
what?
How is translation quality?
سيد الغو هيا اشهر رواية عند العرب
Really??? I am an Arab (morrocan who was raised in UK and so cant type in arabic) but damn I never knew that reverened insanity wad the most popular in the arab world! Please can you tell me which Arab country it is the most popular in?
@@bablabowbablabow3629hey bro ,I'm Moroccan and the most people that read novels amongst Arabs are Moroccans, Algerians and Egyptians, and the biggest arabic novels website is kolnovel.
Gu is the impodment of laws of heaven.
The best novel I have ever read-all others just seem like cheap garbage in comparison. I can still find good ones like LOTM, but even that doesn't come close to the masterpiece that is Reverend Insanity
Where to read light novel of reverend insanity?
webnovel app or search it up online
Webnovelpub or novelbin are good websites to read it.
After reading RI everything else look lackluster It is peak
2:51 yeah okay, but is it really that necessary?
yeah, though it is messed up to talk about, its probably one of the best examples of fang yuan having absolutely 0 boundaries when it comes to gaining strength. TW from here: he refines those kids into the bone flesh unity gu that allows you to take in another's primevail essence without having any leftover side effects. Completely highlighting Fang Yuans demonic nature.
Accusations. Fang Yuan is a good man and is not a villain.
What is your favorite arc in the novel
honestly i havent completed it yet so I'm not sure yet tbh but so far almost every arc has been better than the last. I really liked the three kings inheritance arc tho- the ending was beautiful. hbu
@@maxwellrak my favorite arc was around chapter 1950-2000
@@Reverend-Insanitysounds like fate war arc
Mine ranked is
1. A demon’s heart never regrets (first arc)
2. Three kings inheritance (I really liked when FY lost to BNB and showed us he can actually lose)
3. Fate war arc (I like the power growth, the introduction of venerables, the poems, everything)
@@clo_edits8837 yeah the second one
Reverend insanity is the human path true inheritance.
Facts
Great Love Immortal Venerable did nothing wrong bro
He wasn’t a normal human and got transported into the gu world or anything, he was a normal guy in the gu world, lived 300 years trying to live and 200 years wondering around the world and ended up making the spring autumn cicada
And the manhua got only to chapter 128 not 115, most of your informations aren’t accurate and your talk about the story won’t make anyone read it
“Fang Yuan was originally a Chinese scholar born on Earth, somehow his soul transmigrated into the world of Gu (Gu world).” Directly from the Reverend insanity wiki lil bro
@@maxwellrak if it wasn’t in the novel then we can blame the wikipedia page, but the story doesn’t talk about the time when i got reincarnated in the insects world
@@Gamedx01 😂😂ya the novel really like barely grazes over it. Like I can only think of one time it genuinely said that fang yuan had his memories from earth- if u want the reference it was from when he was talking ab how to make money w xin ci for her young master competition and he had done a like sports panel type thing in his past life bc of his memories on earth😭
@@maxwellrak the novel got alot of plot holes so that’s probably one of them
Trying not to spoil but one of the major plot point of the story is that he is a reincarnator or otherworldly demon, this is important from book 4 and onward.
I think warlock of the magus world tops it period
Bruh talk after finishing 151 chapter and also if you read three king inheritance your mouth will be open widelike goddamn what you just read .
So this is youjo senki but a manhua
It's a webnovel. The manhua is on hiatus. And it's nothing like Youjo senki in the slightest.
isn’t this the guy who js kills a bunch of people for shits and giggles because i’ve heard sm people talk about the “philosophical” aspects of ri but on a surface level it seems like just some kind of power fantasy torture porn for people who just enjoy violence and shi😕
It's all in one kindness hatred rage happiness all shown in this novel
Bro that novel got so boring after he got the op body. I thought everyone else felt the same about it, but reading the comments, clearly not
How do you guys even read 2000 chapters of the same exact formula of what is essentially a glorified success story and still enjoy it lmao
Even the fkn author got bored in the end
And in a world of endless possibilities, bro really picked strength path, enslavement path and time path, and time path wasnt event about time half the time it was some bullshit about zodiac animals at some point xddd
I was so fucking excited for blood path because half the novel, the author was hyping it up to be fy strongest path, but then hes like, um actually its a trap, so fy just never used it
Ok buddy guess he just has ultra instinct
