      @billny33 4 месяца назад +19

      Football has always had that issue. Yeah you should always refer to that team by the year the regular season took place but if you are looking at a particular sports year, I think it's good to point out the calendar year.
      For example, in 1986 you had the Boston Red Sox in the World Series (yes, the Buckner ground ball) and the Boston Celtics winning the NBA Finals, but you also had the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl in Jan of 86. I think when you're trying to figure out a timeline of playoffs and Super Bowls and when they happen it can often be nice to see what actual year it occurred in.
      Another example. The Music City Miracle between the Titans and Bills was the first weekend of January 2000, maybe like Jan 5th or something. It was the '99 season but it's easy to forget that was really the first great/iconic sports moment of the new millennium.

      @billny33 3 месяца назад +9

      @@maulekuul what if they started doing for football what they do for other sports? The 1985-86 Bears? Maybe that's not so hot, we're used to the nice ring that "85 Bears" has. But, over the last 7-8 years, the regular season has extended into January for all teams, whereas that used to be only for playoff teams. Heck in the 90s, you could make the playoffs, lose a wild card game and still be done in December. But the way things are now, I think you could totally make a case for today's teams to be called like the 2024-25 Jaguars etc.

    Dang. So the NFC East makes up nearly a 1/5th (just under 19%) of all Super Bowls winners, appearing in over a third of all Super Bowls (just over nearly 38%). AFC West is next in wins with over a sixth at 10 wins while AFC East has the next most appearances, one less than the NFC East at 21 (over 36%) with 9 wins, followed by the AFC West at one less at also over a 1/3rd of all appearances. AFC East, followed by NFC West and AFC North are next by wins with over over 1/7th of all wins (over 15%) and 1/8th total wins each (at 13.79% each) respectively, with each division mainly that far because of one of the four most SB winning team’s success. But Brady has just under 1/8th of all Super Bowl wins himself at over 12%, more than any other single team, and started in over 1/6th of all Super Bowls (17.2%), with more appearances that any team but the Patriots by 1 game, and more appearances in the SB than both the AFC and NFC South whole division.
    Honorable mentions to Minnesota and Buffalo. Maybe this’ll be their one of their years. But 4 appearances and zero wins has got to be rough. Especially to Buffalo to have lost all four against the NFC East, I’m surprised there isn’t more bad blood there. Fortunately if they make it that far this year, they’d be unlikely to face a NFC East team this year by the outlook so far. Maybe we’ll even see Vikings vs Bills-the heartbreak game.

    Starting with Super Bowl 10, the period of time between Super Bowl 29 and Super Bowl 40 is the only time the Steelers didn't have the most Super Bowl Championships, either all alone or tied with another team.

    Can you do one based on Super Bowl appearances, win or lose. Just most to least SB appearances.

    The Patriots’ total could easily have been 3 or 9.

      # 12 was usually the difference between winning and losing. In the Super Bowls they lost, he either underperformed (Super Bowl 42 and 46) or had a turnover in the 4th quarter when it mattered most (Super Bowl 52).

    Re-do the list and include Tom Brady’s head. You’ll find he’s at the top of the list. That’s insane to me.

      I just have one note to add, the graphic is about teams, not quarterbacks. I doubt Tom Brady could have won even one without the rest of the team. The Patriots were helped by cheating in at least two Super Bowls, against the Raiders with Rich Gannon and the Eagles with Donavan McNabb

    The Steelers will never get that elusive 7th Lombardi as long as Tomlin is at the helm, new leadership is needed
