I'm trying to organize a concert/festival "BELTIN IT OUT FOR THE GREENBELT' to bring community together to preserve and protect the ecological and agricultural integrity of the Greenbelt (an area on the edge of the GTA that has some of the best agricultural areas in Canada. It is also the headwater area to major river systems that feed Lake Ontario and contains habitat for a wide diversity of species...but the current gov. in Ont would like to remove the environmental protection laws and open it to development!! We need a concert!! WE need to sing and bring voices together. Reply if you can help. And Murray's song here sort of defines the greedy 1% crux of the problem!! Great song!
HEY MURRY , i met you back stage at earth days in the early seventies , you remember earth days the concert protesting the pickering airport. you broke a string on your guitar , and some assholes in the front of the crowd were booing you cause you didn't want to use some other musicians guitar. you mentioned to me what pissed you off was you were playing for free as you volunteered for a worthy cause for the lady that was being forced off her families farm. i still remember how you walked to the edge of the stage and looked at the morons who were booing you , bowed taking your touque off and stared them down , then left the stage. i believe these fools were only there to listen to a foot in cold water , they seemed like they only came for rock and roll. you put on a great show up to the point of the string breaking on your guitar. but my friends are in the music business and i know how musicians get used to playing their own guitars , and don't like to use others. the way you handled the hecklers was so priceless. glad to see you are still playing , you are actually playing in nanaimo tonight at the port theatre , and i found out too late and missed your show. i'm always listening to your live album , ONLY THE SILENCE REMAINS , one of the best live albums from the 70s. another friend of mine mike mckenna played slide on your sweeping the spotlight away album , another good album. take care and have a good show in nanaimo , the roads are all under construction downtown , so it's a real mess , hope you don't have to drive in it , and enjoy the harbour.
Thanks Murray...I really appreciate all your singing and your contribution to the music culture here....

Great song! Well said and done.
Excellent song! I still will keep hoping to see perform live at some point after all these years of listening.
Going on Tuesday to see him
I saw him 2 nights at a small cafe in Montreal in the 80's; just him; a piano; an acoustic guitar and his harmonica; He was awesome!
