Would like to see some of that old work, left us hanging in this one!
we will be recording this episode soon.
"Wanna go for a walk?"
*Freaks out* Literally me.
Cali9000 lol
Cali9000 I Love Lucy
I just love these types of videos. It's great to have a look beyond the actual work that happens inside of and agency or studio.
These are a great mental reset during the day :). Keep em coming!
Micah C. Will do.
Im ready to experience this
Love these kind of videos :) Cant wait for Chris'!
Really liked this, would like to see more
Love it! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
I love watching these; it's so cool to actually see you guys out and about at Blind. Can't wait for "the day in the life of design guru: Chris Do"
The best channel I've ever had the good fortune of chancing on. TheFutur team, please don't stop doing what you're doing. You are legitimately changing people's lives.
won't stop. can't stop.
Thanks for the vid Greg!
I love this series! I would like to see a day in the life of Cris!! Amaginz!
I miss these vlogs. Do more like these. Please!!!
Great video Greg. Your dog is so cute. Good stuff.
Props for driving a manual, plus, a MINI
dogs, beautiful clips and editing, very nice story. 10 out of 10 sir
Nice...liked the dogs grin!
realy nice in future i also follow your life style
Amazing day.. :) great guys
Chill Guy
Love it
Thank you!
Hi Chris, thank you so much for this channel
is there an episode about how the meetings in blind are going on, or how do you share responsibilities between employees?
working on some.
Waaw that's an IDE hard drive. It's a very old one and my people over here still use it xD
This is really great stuff. I'm working on my own graphic design "life" (scared), but I've been going through all of these videos and it's really pumping me up and getting me to think things through before going out there in the design world. I don't know what the future holds (pun intended I guess lol ;)) but hopefully it's good. Thanks!
Hey Greg, you must do more videos man. You are great at this!
Thanks! I plan on it. Any suggestions for topics you'd like to see?
Greg Gunn I'd love to see the process of your work with the team but I suggest you to obtain your target audience first. Then you find out what they like to watch and create content acc.
Greg, be my mentor Greg. :)
thanks for taking the time to make and share these btw. Im looking forward to that animation (?) portfolio.
Happy to help if you have a specific question! I'm working on the My First Portfolio idea-stay tuned :)
Hey, how did I miss this one??? Thanks for sharing, Greg... well done. BTW, that grey chair in your office, what is it? I need to find a 'good' one that will support my back! See you --
Sweet video!
Thanks!
Even though I am more of a cat person, that dog was amazing!!!! :D Great video!
cats. dogs. i'm a people person.
Thanks, Carla! :D
This should be in VR! hahaha awesome video, Greg!
Jelvin Base That's a great idea! And thank you, glad you enjoyed it 😁
Love this idea!
Just for an FYI Greg. There are PATA to SATA devices out there that would allow you to transfer the data from the drives. If you have access to an older computer that has the PATA connector, you can throw in there. PATA is not that old and was only retired a few years ago officially.
thanks for the heads up.
Oh my god, you spend the whole day in meetings ! That sounds like a nightmare life to me !
Awesome video! Maybe we'll get Chris for the season finale 😂
Roy Thanks! I hope we get to see Chris’ video too.
sure. but there are still many in the office that need to make their video first.
I love you Greg
Ben I love you back
great video! i think everybodys wondering what a day of Chris would look like ;)
Great video Greg! Would love to see more videos from you!
Clayo Creative Thanks! I plan on making plenty more.
Awesome! I aspire to be a creative director some day. I went to school for graphic design and management and work hard everyday in order to teach myself about all aspects of the commercial arts industry. Do you have any advice of what steps could be beneficial to get to that position?
I second this, very good editing and well tied story.
Some Casey influences here and there
Yes. Firstly, don't chase a title. I cover this question in an FAQ on my site if you're interested www.ggunn.com/faq#anchor-Q1
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing Greg. I find it challenging to focus and get work done after attending 2-3 meetings in a day. I assume this is not what a typical day looks like for you but I am curious to know how you focus to get work done after 5 meetings (or even after 2.)
the higher you climb the less work you do. you are required to manage teams and clients.
Have to appreciate Greg rocking the Ray Bans and morning optimism.
Greg, I am curious is there a milestone or experience in your life/career that you attribute your current role with?
Appreciate the work you all do and the honesty shown in these subtle glimpses into the life at Blind.
Really makes for a great recruitment tool.
I am certain many others besides myself see these and look for similar work experiences for themselves.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the kind words, Brandon. I've been fortunate in a lot of ways to be where I am. If I look back on my path, the most consistent thing I see is failure. Or progress, as I like to call it.
I started a band, took it as far as I could, but didn't make it big (failure #1). As a result I went to school and then started an animation studio. We did well, but didn't survive the market crash (failure #2). As a result of that, I moved to Blind and continued my education-thanks to Chris.
Thank you for sharing, Greg.
I am thankful to see a likeminded perception of "failure".
It is a conscience effort on my part to find situations where I can fail. Failure is such a powerful sign that learning is still yet to be done.
Just remember never to fail in Destiny or Roth might have a few anecdotes in a futur(e) video.
lol. the Destiny reference.
LOL.... that reaction from the dog reminds me of my dog!!!
They're the best, aren't they :)
I don't know what I love most about the Snapshots. Is it the dope intro? The authenticity? The insight? It's just nice overall. By the way Chris, still hyped for the 2D Animation tutorials. ;)
2D animation tutorials is my jam-what are you interested in seeing?
Greg Gunn Thats music in my ears. I know some stuff in motion graphics, but i wonder how to animate a charater for example. Couldn't find any good tutorials on this either (Except for flash tutorials).
I'd love to see some character animation aswell :))
will we be able to see the portfolio(s) sometime? as an incoming freshman in college looking to be a designer it would be cool to see some of his college work :)
ryellek You better believe it. Working on that video next 😉
ryellek Yep. He confirmed that he was able to recover the files.
Greg Gunn awesome!
This was awesome plus nice to know there are Destiny fans like you out there! Woop woop!
you can find Greg online playing Destiny right now.
Cutest dog ever
my freaking dream man
6pm and its already dark here haha (from Mauritius)
I like this video Greg! I hope this doesn't offend you, but I'm kinda happy your life looks "normal". It looks like you actually "live" in your house and it's not a perfectly staged setup like I see in many vlogs out there. It comes off authentic.
trying to keep it real. life isn't always sexy the way we imagine it to be.
I need to wake up with my hair as perfect as Greg's.
Juan Ramírez lol it was a good hair day.
Juan Ramírez yeah. Me too.
@@thefutur 😂😂
First: Amazing job of all
Second: I really wish work with Greg
Third: That salad looks amazing.... Tell me the recipe please kkk
Can you do a Day in the Life of a Business Designer? or an interview with one?
who are you thinking of?
I really wish I was a designer
It's never too late to learn something new. :)
Is that the album cover for the Saosin Album "Voices", on the wall? 6:41
This guy went guns blazing(ba dum tss) Nice job!
Who owns the muscle car? 3:05
that would be mr. jon roth.
I wish i got paid to eat lunch, and open up hard drives. I'm a web designer and i work 8 hours almost straight every day with a few 10 minute breaks to keep myself sane.. I need to work in Los Angeles!
time to find another job i think.
The Futur I agree. Time to work on that portfolio!!
10am? Wow lucky.
Erik Peterson Very.
those are our hours.
Right?
Thought the same... 10am early? Like wtf man...
no. not early. designer hours. most people start at 8.
I'm going to make a day in the life of a design student XD
I'd watch that!
Greg Gunn haha I used to make vlogs, but stopped because school was getting so busy. Maaaybe I'll start again lol
Seazy YT I've been falling in love with the raw blue and white combo in design. Thanks for reminding me of it. :)
Yoshimar L Hey thanks haha XD my new logo is a bit different! I've been working on my redesign for a while, if you want to check it out go follow me on Instagram @seazydesignco
if you make the video and it's good, we will publish it on our channel.
So a Day in the life of a designer comprises of deconstructing old harddrives, going on meetings and no design work. Got it.
Every day is different. As a creative director, it's my responsibility (and biggest priority) to interface with the client, make sure we're aligned and that my team has clear direction. That day was back to back meetings.
This is my dream life aha
go create your dream life.
The Futur will try , these videos are helping me progress as a designer a lot and become more professional , thanks!
I'm you're 1000th like
You don't have glasses man! Amazing for you
matthew doesn't either.
Designer = glasses lol
Very interesting. Greg how did you reduce the noise level from the video when shooting outdoors. Was there any external microphone .
Good question. I had an external mic attached to the top of my iphone rig. I forget the name of it, but it helped tremendously. I'm far from an audio expert, but I also did a little noise reduction in post.
Greg Gunn - was that rode mic. Can u post the Pic of the kit how it is mounted with iPhone. What noise reduction application you use?
Here's the mic rig. it's pretty awesome for android and iPhone use:
amzn.to/2uW32gp
The Futur - thanks and absolutely awesome rig
Greg Gunn - hi purchased the rig and received today.i am getting some crackle sound while recording and also the mixer sometimes shows only one channel sound. Only when I press the mic harder am getting the two channels in the mixer. I am using iPhone 7plus. Can u advise me if am doing anything wrong.
spend some time with my wife and my dog.
I've expected to see at least one of his works here, WTF?!
All day long no work at all?!
that's life of a director.
Every day is a little different. That day was LOTS of meetings.
this is freakin great; its super interesting to see other designers day
one critique for the editor (sorry i like to pick on them) :
just overlay the text stuff for context / corrections over the vid, instead of on a black bg (like at 4:04)
its less jarring, keeps immersion, and you can do it in a creative / quirky way thats fun to watch that actually results in a net positive experience
Good suggestion. I'm not the best editor :/
these videos are meant to be shot and edited by the designer.
LOL! Your kitchen is dirty?
I spy an Alan Watts book - good choice sir 👌
yes.
Hiii You two actually look like the couple from "Gone Girl" movie.
Your walls are too white, I would go crazy there lol
to each his own.
What was that first reggae/ska song? I need to wake up to that.
Mr. Gunn?
10th Shazam attempt, I give up :/
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
What is the font used in the thumbnail
Futura.
fiya
he did nothing except for going to work , had meetings/coffees and back. :?
Love Lucy ❤️
no fork on a skillet man :P it'll scratch :D
I know… I try to be careful, but I'm playing with fire.
:D
How much does a creative director earn?
more than an art director.
I used to really admire Greg Gunn before I saw him use a fork in a teflon pan.
secret is out. he's a total hack.
What kind of dog is 'lucy' she is cute
MORDEKAIZ Thanks! She's a mix of blue heeler and dachshund.
Community!
You guys start work at 10...?
So the day in the life of a designer means no design work :)
in the life of a creative director, yes. sometimes it's just about project management and client meetings.
Pretty sure this video was meant to be titled: "24 hours of Nothing"
While I’m grateful for the video and the time and effort to make it, I kind of have to agree with you. I didn’t really get much as far as what designers at blind do other than commute, talk on the phone, have meetings, eat yummy looking food and then go home. I did still enjoy it but kinda left me wanting to learn more still.
Greg's wife is cute
:(
weird
so basically you do nothing much .lol
lol ok, so he didn't do any work at all...
Gray Smith Depends on how you define work. Does 4.5 hours of meetings count?
yes it does.
