Good and sad video. I wish all of those guys would of continued their careers, especially Reggie Lewis and Drazen Petrovic. The Celtics probably wouldn't had been so bad in the 90's and Petrovic would of had a legendary career.
Wow those percentages by Drazen Petrovic were spectacular! 51% from the field, 45% from 3, and 84% from the foul line. That'll get you 25-30 million dollars a year in todays NBA.
As I was scrolling on my phone I came across an article that read "Kobe Bryant was in an helicopter crash And he is dead" I was like This can't be Not Kobe... No he... Sad to be honest. I always felt that if Lewis and Bias didn't die, MJ wouldn't have won as many titles as he did. The Eastern Conference would have been that much harder to get through from 1990-1998. Celtics would have been stacked early on with Bird still playing until 92 and McHale until 90. In fact perhaps Bird wouldn't have been injured the same way if Bias was alive and on the team in 92 since the play calling would have been different.
It's pretty simple. Thousands die yearly in car crashes, and very few young people die of "natural" causes like heart attacks. If anything I find it very settling to know that car crashes are really all that's left as a major risk.
It isn't 'simple'. If we were take these tragic examples as a statistical demonstration then, based on this video, about 70% of all unnatural deaths would be caused by car accidents, 25% by collapse from heart failure & only about 5% from 'something else'. Cars are flat out not causing that big a slice of all unnatural fatalities so it is definitely strange that so many NBA players have died behind the wheel.
I remember Jason Collier! I remember playing with him a lot on video games boosting up his overrall stats. Didn’t know he was dead! You learn something new everyday
Avery Bradley’s Son He was already good on and off the court, I've watch reggie, when he started for the Celtics until he collapsed on the court and died. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 he always remember where he came from, and helped out the homeless a lot, one of the few players that didn't do it for fame. Reggie Lewis forever changed the NBA. even though I'm a spurs fan, I've watched all the legends in my time.
Terry Furlow is a Flint ICON. His mother and father were the best and from knowing her I knew where he got his determination to make it to the NBA. His funeral was sad, my mother comforted his mother on the drive to the funeral but the emotions overtook her when she was screaming "Terry! Terry!" hoping that he was asleep and awaken from his slumber. The screaming of her son replays in my head often.
Petrovic was a awesome player . Saw him live a few times attending Pistons v Nets games . The guy was coming into a point of his career when everything was firing perfectly together . It's sad we never got to see how great he could have been . I'm pretty sure if he had not died we would be talking about him as the Greatest European Player in NBA history .
Conrad McRae... as a child i remember him playing in my team, Fortitudo Bologna. I'll always remeber his trademark dunk. He was playing there the season before dying.
Andy Hoops I would appreciate if you could do a video on Arvydas Sabonis i feel like he's one of the most underrated players of all time, even Shaq said that it was very hard to play against him.I would love to hear your opinion on him.
I lived in Greensboro NC around the time Bobby Phils died. He didn't die in a mere car accident. He died while racing his teammate David Wesley either after a game or practice. Senseless death. Dude was one of my favorite players because of how he scraped his way to the top.
I was a Hornets season ticket holder when Bobby Phills died. David Wesley, a Hornets point guard, was involved in the accident -- they were racing to the arena. Wesley was deeply affected psychologically and really never got over the incident.
Giil Dajionn he carried a croatian team to the world championship finals and battled vs the dream team and almost won and thats all u need to know about a player to call him great

lol he is even better today. it's about opportunity in the NBA and chemistry and coaching all those factors play a part. he never got consistent minutes at the role he excels at and always had a ball hog chucker on his team and a toxic coach. Dantoni and Atkinson actually believe in him and once he comes back from injury he will be productive again.
I was watching a Red Sox game when the play-by-play man Sean McDonough announced that Reggie Lewis had passed away. I and I'm sure the rest of New England was stunned.
All of these are tragic of course, but Malik Sealy especially. Killed by a drink driver going the wrong way. Just awful. Garnett said in an interview that it left a hole in his heart. RIP Malik.
I remember Reggie Lewis. Wasn't even a celtics fan but he hyped up every game. Upper Deck and Skybox cards. I remember wearing jersey not just for the name, but mostly for the name.
Phills was racing on the freeway with a teammate (David Wesley) when he lost control of his vehicle, by the way. Reckless driving. Derrick Coleman was in a similar reckless driving situation where he crashed with his teammate Eldridge Recasner as a passenger. Recasner narrowly escaped death, had to be hospitalized. One just recently was Rasual Butler and wife. They wiped out and died, both had drugs in their systems, iirc. He was retired, but just adding him in as an extra.
Ricky Berry should be on this list. Look him up. 1988 first round pick of The Sacramento Kings. Had a nice rookie year & then blew his own head off during the off-season.
Plus they play a lot more basketball than the average person so they push themselves more. I've never understood why they haven't put the cause of injuries on the fact that the aau generation play so much more than they have in the past. Think about it they play 10 to 20 games a yr in elementary school not counting the aau teams, then the same in high school, then 40 to 50 a yr in college plus the off season games, last but not least 82 regular season games and 4 to 28 games in the playoffs plus the preseason and summer league games per yr. That is a lot of basketball.
Black Salami hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Basically the muscles of their hearts become enlarged and as a result don’t pump effectively. It can lead to arrhythmias.
It's not very common in the NBA now due to better more effective ways to check heart productivity. Unfortunately Chris Bosh had to retire because of an enlarged heart, basically if you're heart is oversized and becomes overworked it can cause arrhythmia problems (inconsistencies and harder heartbeats) which isn't usually major but if it's due to an oversized and overworked heart it can cause dizziness, fainting and in serious cases...cardiac arrest.
