As a someone who watches way too many RUclips tech reviews, this came out so well ❤️ great details about the steam deck. I know you and I have talked about it on occasion but I love this insight. Not only do I wanna see more about your thoughts in the future about the steam deck. I'd love to see the different gear you come review too!
I just got my steam deck two days ago after putting it off for months, just decided to get it over with and get one. And it has been amazing being able to play my games anywhere I want. I only have a handful of games because I'm super broke but it's been a great experience.
Excellent choice my friend. I've also heard that more people prefer the SD over the Asus ROG Ally, regardless of the Ally being more powerful. I have played tons of Triple A games on the SD with no issues.
Absolutely. I got mine around october or september last year and have used it over my 2k PC. The PC ended up going down temporarily after my move (cpu pins got messed up) and i bought a dock for it and ended up falling in love with it all over again. Especially since i can use my racing wheel in racing games!!!
Valve giving a case with the product rather than a dock is genius. They know most of the player base is going to use it to play the library they have already cumulated over the years, just on the go this time. Having a dock as an optional purchase is perfect.
I accidentally purchased a Steam Deck while inebriated. I’m trying to justify my drunken purchase by watching videos on it. This is a great video man! Thanks for putting it out.
I'm a single player gamer so I don't care about anti-cheat. In my opinion the Steam Deck is incredible! I got mine 2 weeks ago and can't stop playing or thinking about it, by far the most fun I ever had in gaming! ❤️
I'm thinking of selling my Switch to put towards a Deck but kinda wanna keep the Switch for the Nintendo licensed games. I barely play Switch now though. Thoughts???
I know how you feel! I keep my Switch because I know I want to play some of the games, but man... I never play it. The Steam Deck on the other hand, I play several times a week. Almost every day at this point.
Just got the steam deck and I'm loving it so far. Now when I'm traveling for work instead of lugging a twenty pound bag with my laptop and accessories I just put this in my suitcase, and the relatively hard case it comes with puts my mind at ease. Not sure if I'll ever buy a dock for it, since I do already have a gaming laptop if I want to play something on a bigger screen, but it's cool to be able to if I need it.
I actually sold my gaming laptop after getting my deck. It sat there for many months just collecting dust so I sold it to a friend that needed to replace his aging chromebook.
Nice video and I completely agree with everything you said. I too bought a dock (3rd party) have I used it? Nope. I think the deck is a great piece of kit. I am really loving some of the great Indi games available and working my way through my back catalogue of Steam games that I have never played. Humble Bundle have had some great bundles. All in all loving it. Liked and subbed.
@@FunkyHQYT I mainly game on my pc but with my current job I’ve been putting alot of hours in at the desk, so being able to play my steam games while laying down in the evenings seemed just about perfect for me!
I've been playing a lot of Red Dead Redemption 2, both on the Deck and on my PC. I think my favorite way to play it though is streaming it from my PC to my Deck. It works better thank thought it would!
For me, I really want Linux to be taken seriously so I personally don't consider running Windows at this time. And everything that I realistically want to play is all playable on SteamOS.
@@FunkyHQYT I use linux for work so I really don't care about what I'm using for fun. SteamOS is basically a console experience without all the Windows BS and it handles perfectly with a controller. As a gaming OS it's just perfect. I've actually considered picking up a 6800h miniPC to use as a console in the living room with SteamOS installed. Only issue is I don't have an AMD GPU...so it would end up being pretty expensive if I wanted to upgrade. Tho I think for living room gaming I could get away with just the base system.
I actually just upgraded my platform in my main PC, so I have a 3700X and all the hardware left from my old system. It's mini ITX, and I'm looking to do what you're talking about, making a console out of it. I picked up a Radeon VII for $125 so I'm planning on using that. I just haven't decided if I want to use HoloISO or boot into Windows 11 and just have big picture mode launch automatically. That would help with some compatibility, but I'm also interested in going all Linux on that too! And I'm going to make a video about it!
@@FunkyHQYT I considered the big picture mode gimmick, but the reality is, it's not just the UI that works better. It's the unified updates, it's the sleep/wake function, it's the base tuning that is just fantastic. I can't wait for an official launch of SteamOS for desktop. Even if it only supports AMD still.
Hey I just wanted to add to the question asked about the offline capability of games on steam deck. There are single player games that require an internet connection, but usually those are games with 3rd party launchers like EA and Rockstar. In the case of RDR2 it requires an internet connection when starting the game then I could disconnect and remain offline while playing without issue. even suspend the game and put the deck to sleep and play it later.
I bought mine and after a couple days I had buyer’s remorse. But fast forward 6 months later it is my favorite gaming device. I’ve put in about 50+ hours in Hogwarts Legacy and just as many in GTA V. I’ve also been hitting Halo MCC. Great device and look forward to an upgraded Steam Deck sometime in the future.
I installed Windows on my SD card to play Genshin while keeping SteamOS on the SSD. No problem so far. It works well, even with periphericals and uses suprisingly low battery charge.
I bought mine yesterday, I'm a busy man and having this feels like the right device for Me plus I can sneak in an hour or two here and there
Yes! The Deck is perfect for that!
That's why mine is the best device ever. I have 2 kids...so the ability to sneak in an hour is great
@@RichardServello I got to just play for an hour or two at night because I have a lot of studies just got it today!

I've got some ideas brewing!! And it probably won't take me months to do 😅
Have ordered my steamdeck the 1 to 2 week delivery is the perfect time frame to binge absolutely every video on the steamdeck on RUclips :)
I have a couple of those 👀

My Deck is arriving tomorrow, so you uploaded this at the perfect time. Excellent video, easy sub
Thank you thank you!!

I've had mine since it came out and it's still perfect and I use it every single day. It's my main gaming device now.

Thank you!! I think you made a good choice if that helps! 😂
did the same exact thing. i do not regret it.
Whoopsies 🤣

Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks Tori!!

Thank you!! Humble Bundles are awesome!
The “what are you doing just buy one” is the only reason I’m finally getting one
I support your decision. What are you most excited to try on it when you get it?

It's VERY easy to dual boot. I had it set up...I ended up going back to 100% steamOS because it's just better.

So I'm guessing you kinda like it then? 😆
I’ve been debating taking the plunge, this might be the push I needed
Mines coming in mail today can't wait 🤗
Wooooooo!!!!
Don't forget about the PC to SD streaming experience using sunshine/moonlight :)
Omg! Maybe someday I'll remember all the talking points in a video 😅

I saw there was new Windows drivers available!
@@FunkyHQYT I didn't check recently. It worked already fine months ago.
I received it yesterday, and I love it 😀 so much, so I'm thinking about getting a tripod for my phone so I can make some steam deck videos
Haven't touched my Xbox since getting it . And I haven't had a PC in years or laptop so this is nice
I sold my laptop because it hasn't been used in months 🫢
Literally everything you played should run at high spec without an issue. Some will even do 4k. Did you play any complex games?
If by complex you mean graphically intensive, I'd have to say Hitman 3 is the most demanding game that I like to play on my Deck.
Ok I'll buy one
It only took months of telling you how cool it is and an 18 minute video, huh? EZ
You can boot windows off a flash drive on steam deck, although I’d recommend an external ssd
I've been on beta since it basically came out and have had no issues.
If your main use case is games that don't run...install windows on it. Solved.
Incredibly well done! Can’t wait to see how you’re feeling in another 6 months!!
There is dual booting on the Deck
They do make antiglare screen protectors.
Me and ya m0ms relationship just turned 1 year old too 😊😂
how's the gaming channel going bud
Gpd win 4 is the best
I'd love to get my hands on one...
This is your best and most informative video yet!! I too, am interested to see what you find after 12 months of use.
Anytime a youtuber asks you to subscribe im not gonna subscribe to that shit😂
So... you're saying I'm a RUclipsr??
