UK - Black 5 44871 on The York Yuletide Express, 16th December 2023

Ex.LMS Black 5 4-6-0 number 44871 took charge of the annual York Yuletide Express, running from Norwich and Thetford to York and back.
We ventured to an isolated spot in the Isle of Axholme, to the east of Doncaster, where the Black 5 was expected to be moving at speed along a long straight stretch of track - and were not disappointed.
Light conditions could have been better for us, although had the Black 5 been moving in the opposite direction, they'd have been perfect (as demonstrated in the clip of diesel number 66730).
A closing sequence is provided by my friend, Tom Evans who was positioned to the north of Doncaster.
