I had Romanian gypsies try it with me at Denham car boot sale. There was a family of 4/5 of them. I was sat in my car side on & one of them blocked off my view while another picked up a £2 pair of shoes & walked off hurriedly. I knew what was happening from the start & went after him & grabbed the shoes back. These people are pure scum who offer nothing to this country, they shouldn't be here.

I sell at one that do not allow traders to approach you before 9am when they open. If they catch anyone they are asked to leave the site. Have to say it's great not to be pestered whilst your setting up. Have been to other local areas that allow other traders to hound you😂you just got to say..come back later when I am set up On the buyer stealing the shoes. As a seller you pay £8_12 entry fee to gave anything go missing when you really need to make back your entry fee is 😢

I still ward off some of them though, the ones I don't trust. Thieves operate on opportunity so they watch for when you are distracted or if there is something valuable they want, they will set up a distraction. The chinese are the worst offenders in Australia. They are arrogant knowing there are no consequences. Cops don't care

The Pi price varies on which model it is. The original Pi are starting to go up in value again. Just the bare board, without power supply, cases, I/O devices and SD cards are aroind a tenner. The more recent ones can be well over £100 depending on which memory setup they have.
Can't stand the skinflints at car boots...someone came up to me once and offered me 5p for a 10p figure....just turned round and went " I would sooner throw it in the bin than sell it to you for 5p"

Was so wierd to hear that rollsy resells chap mention the Bridgemary bootsale in Gosport. I grew up in Gosport and my dad worked at that school for a spell and used to help out at the sunday booty. I had a stall there on quite a few occassions as a kid too. Used to buy time stamped vhs of new release films back in the day there too 😂. Would go there pretty much every sunday it was on. You dealt with the vultures well they were pretty relentless.
I had things stolen when setting up too. In future sales I decided to tell everybody to come back when i had finished setting up, so I could keep an eye on my stuff. This must happen quite alot.
My local carboot let you set up for first from 6.30 to 7.30. The buyers can then come. Sellers are not allowed to sell to anyone before 7.30 which I think is brilliant avoids all this crap.
I am new to reselling I am slowly beginning to learn about different things to resell. I am really interested in reselling shoes but there's a few things that I need to figure out before start dabbing with them. 1. Shoes you get in carbon. Most if not all are dirty looking , dusty ---> How do you decide if they are worth picking up and reselling. These shoes that you pick up how do you go about cleaning them. Do you just chuck them in the washing machine or do you have certain items that you use to clean these? I'm a shoe newbie so trying to figure this out 2. So once you bought these shoes and cleaned them off- Do you seal and poly wrap it after taking photos. which then goes into a storage until coming out when the sal goes through? 3. Shoes - When you buy shoes how do you do research on that . meaning which type of brand / sub brand of shoe it is? 4; How do you wrap and ship these shoes? Im just trying to increase my knowledge on this so I can start picking them up
Do your own research. You want to fast track it by having it handed to you on a platter? The internet is a wealth of information and years of experience and constantly keeping your finger on the pulse as the market changes. Enjoy the journey
Ive been doing carboots/fairs and markets in the UK on and off for 10 plus years. Your mistake was getting there late so you couldn't set up before public came in or you was unsure with it being a new selling ground or you are more a buyer than a seller. As a second hand buyer/ seller we normally say we pay for our education, i suppose that's what you did. Just get there before buyers if not be polite and control the crowd. Get yourself sorted before selling because items will go missing before you realise it.
Sad thing is so many boot fairs are letting in the buyers at the same time as sellers these days. Or worse certain "gatemen" at a few boot fairs near me let their "preferred" buyers in before others. Sometimes its a nightmare as you get in and its just chuff left over, normally over priced chuff.
every time i go to a carboot, i hear someone says my item is stolen. you have to have eyes like a hawk at all times(not me by the way), any small items you sell put them in a glass cabinet, people can still see but cannot get to it, maybe make it a perplex instead of glass and the hinges away from you. also the clasp towards you, tilt it too. just an idea. a few pance to build and make is better then losing a few £££s more.

It's an old shoplifting trick. You have one person causing a distraction - normally by being demanding, or knocking over displays - and while the staff are busy dealing with that, the other person ( or person's - depending on how many), will take what they need and GTFO. The worst part is, they probably took the shoes so they can sell them themselves.

That Allington Lane Carboot sale near Eastleigh is the WORST car boot sale I’ve been to for both buying & selling on the south coast. I’m from Southampton and I never ever go to that one again either on a Sunday nor a Wednesday…some of the people there are horrid too I’m sad to say. get a 'closed' and 'open' sign nail it to the front of your table, CLOSED until you're finished getting everything out then flip it to open easy
That's why you shouldn't sell nothing till you're set up so you can keep an eye on everyone

We sell maybe twice a year and we parked that way because it was busy coming in and we was rushed to park 👍🏻
