I play Shogun 2 and Rome 2 regularly. Total War games are the reason I got into PC gaming. FOTS is my personal favourite expansion. Thanks for posting!
All of the “earlier” (2000-2015) Total War games and their expansions are absolutely fantastic. Total War Rome II being my favourite. Always heavily overlooked, the mass appeal of the games where slightly plague by the fact of the change of palate of gamers in the early 2000s. Fps and mmos were emerging, and imo alot of strategy games can polarize a younger or more “temperamental” audience. Nonetheless I recommend any first time player to player the shogun and rome series.
I implore you to try Total War: Napoleon, despite in my opinion just being a remastered Total War: Empires just in another era of time, the combat is phenomenal. Seeing cavalry charge and break the flanks of some poor militia unit, looking over and seeing your line infantry volley fire into incoming lines of charging units and decimating entire lines, seeing your cannons shoot grapeshot and shred holes into the enemy is just an exhilarating feeling. Outside of combat the mechanics are also pretty good, though a bit dated it still holds up in some aspects.

I still play this from time to time. I needed to download some mods for it in order to make a full Pirate campaign though

@@Cyb3rSnail Its good stuff. The Mod gives a complete Pirate Army minus some cav options. It also loads up Blunderbuss Pirates and a few other goodies

My first pc game ever was Shogun (1) Total War, I spent hours mastering it on a ciber untill I could beat anyone on there (I was 13)
