For the weight to carry, get a plate carrier as the weight will be balanced and not all on one side

I’m painting my custodes with full highlights etc because of the low model count. Next army will have higher model count so will be battle ready + weathering

I aim for battle ready but because I don't paint very often it takes me so long 😂.
I am the same Liam, I haven't got to a fully painted army in the 10+ years I've been partaking in the hobby. I really want to get there but I lose interest so quickly in the models I'm currently painting. I've decided I want to aim smaller and aim for some 500 point boarding patrols to try and keep my interest in the project. 🤙

While I won't speak on behalf of others, for me personally, Battle-Ready is not enough. Batlle-Ready implies there's a battle to be ready for, and my armies at the moment spend their life on a shelf never touching the tabletop.
Granted if I did play the game I might have a different opinion......but that would require other people.....

My minimum preference is based colours and wash/shading, plus same for basing as well. But, if you're army is painted to that standard, and you've assembled something new, then it's okay to play it grey - and presumably it gets painted over time.
I think motivation for painting is sometimes about wanting to play the model in a game, and so being able to test how a model plays and see if its working for you is important. No one wants to bust their gut to paint something, and then realise they're not going to use it in a game, and wished they spent that time painting something else.

I think it depends on if people play or not.
I enjoy playing the game, so most i paint is battleready +.
People that dont play as much probably want their army to look amazing.
By the time i get models to a display level, rules change and points change. The usual goal is to get armies painted by the time the next update drops.

Do them all as Battle ready standard, then each week choose one unit and "Upgrade" them, battle ready for me, is the base of each paint thats gonna go on, even before shading, so its the base metals, the base green, the base blacks. Thats easy to accomplish

I always say battle ready first then add to units as i go but im a bit of an OCD and struggle not having to finish each model. I dont like playing a not fully painted armies.
